Opening Crawl

War! The Clone Wars rage through the Galaxy. The Outer Rim Sieges burn across countless worlds as the Republic and Separatists clash in a final struggle for dominance.

On the battle-scarred planet Rattatak, warlords rise from the ashes of endless clan wars, seizing power by force and fear. One such warlord, Vek Ka’dal, has allied with Sett Miven of the Trade Federation and the Separatist Alliance to strengthen his rule.

Determined to restore order and secure vital supply routes, Jedi Knight Eidon Marr and the loyal clone troopers of the 127th Battalion move to bring Ka’dal to justice. Unbeknownst to them, the shadow of betrayal looms ever closer…

Features

  • Two maps:
    • Part 1: Battle on Rattatak
    • Part 2: The Jedi Purge
  • Replayablity: No need to reset when a unit dies! It only takes one to two hours to complete. The ending changes on who dies (and when they die!). Only Jedi Knight Eidon Marr’s death causes a ‘Game Over.’
  • Secrets!
    • Hint: What would a True Jedi do when a distressed wild animal attacks them out of instinct?
    • Hint: What would a Jedi do when they know they will be betrayed?
  • Thracia’s Max 99% hit and Min 1% hit.
  • A very minimal use of skills. Only when it really fits. No Fates Lunatic.
  • Mostly unbreakable weapons: only special weapons break.
  • No canon-breaking events. I made sure to not contradict anything from Star Wars canon.
  • Star Wars SFX such as the DC-15A Blaster sound, or a Star Destroyer coming out of hyperspace.
  • Star Wars Music! (Might make a ““Copyright Free”” version if people get on trouble with Disney on Youtube or Twitch)
  • And much, much more.

No tuskan raiders?

More Star Wars!

My sprites from my SIGURD entry were, uh, a little crusty, but I am happy you found use for them!

I’ll be sure to play this and give feedback as soon as I can!

Hey I played the SIGURD star wars chapter, how familiar is this gonna be

I have played the hack.

Impressions

I love it! The production value is incredible and crazy (all the way down to the Palpatine voice clip during Order 66), everything looks clean, there are just a few grammar errors here and there (Separatists are called “Seperatists” occasionally, and the final cutscene with Marr in the cave has “time has past” instead of “time has passed”). All the portraits look great. The plot fits into the final moments of the Clone Wars and I greatly enjoyed all the map conversations between the units, delving deeper into the Clones’ thoughts on the war especially.

The gameplay is competent, but could use more variety, and the reinforcements could be scaled down a little or adjusted. Still, I enjoyed my time with it.

More in detail on gameplay

I found that the clones were not distinct enough from one another, while most of the enemies and especially the reinforcements being essentially the same enemy type (weak blaster users) detracts from the gameplay somewhat. Of course, it is the Clone Wars, it’s blaster vs blaster, but I found that the most reliable strategy is to use the Heavy Trooper, equipped with the shield, and walk forward soaking aggro from all the enemy soldiers and then picking them off. The Heavy Trooper was, in general, incredibly strong and maybe a little busted. He is tanky, the shield makes him invulnerable to 90% of all enemy units (since they’re all ranged and not particularly powerful), and the strong support bonuses meant that once I camped him in front of the boss at 2 range surrounded by the other troopers, he received 0 damage and dished out enough to punch through the enemy’s shield.

I played on Normal, so perhaps on Hard he is not as invulnerable, but that was my impression.

The enemy reinforcements felt never-ending. The corridor leading to the main entrance was chock full of enemy troopers. However, they all were the exact same unit, and none were particularly challenging, especially since you grind up your troopers quite a bit as you approach the fortress. This meant that the midpoint felt quite sloggy.

I think a smaller number of reinforcements with more varied units would work better. Some melee reinforcements, perhaps, which can threaten your troopers at a range they don’t usually operate in. There are some melee units, but only a few and they aren’t particularly threatening - which means that your Jedi is also not particularly useful, especially in the later portion of the hack, when you are powering through the ranged horde and his inability to enemy phase them becomes a liability. I kept him in the back until the very end, when he dealt the finishing blow to the boss.

Having Mercy on him was quite useful at the start of the game to set up kills, though, plus it makes sense lore-wise for a Jedi to have. The three lightsaber styles was also a really cool idea and now I am sad I didn’t come up with it for my SIGURD entry.

The gladiator seemed really strong, but I sent her to block the near-infinite droid reinforcements from the tower, which she easily handled without suffering any damage. She essentially soloed the Jedi Purge chapter afterwards.

The droid is a nice third character to have for the Purge chapter, though he can be sniped on turn 1 if you are not careful. On the main chapter, he essentially just plays as another clone.

Endings

The only clone who survived the purge, since he was out of the way. The others died.

She then later shows up in the background of a scene in Andor.

He then definitely dies in Andor.

He died in the Purge the first time so I played the chapter again, since he deserved to live.

She then later becomes a protagonist of an episode of Rebels and tells Ezra about a Jedi she once met right before the Purge.

He then becomes a boss for a chapter of The Force Unleashed.
