Hello! I wanted to ask about where to find a valid FE8 ROM and playing a randomized version of it. I was inspired to want to play it by Youtubers such as Mangs. However, I’m new to downloading ROMs and emulators on PC. All I need is a step in the right direction so that I don’t break my computer in the process.

Asking about randomizers is perfectly acceptable.
For FE8 specifically there is Yune, an external program to modify ROMs including FE8.
There is also a Self Randomizer which hacks the ROM to randomize itself, and offers many different features, though it is still under development and may experience bugs.
I’d recommend Yune for stability and clearly communicated randomization options, and the Self-Randomizer for the amount of content and features it has and continues to receive via updates, at the cost of occasional bugs (there are debugging/cheating options available) and confusing and overwhelming options. Though the developer is active and able to answer questions you may have in his Discord.
