The Shrunken Stones, a miniature version of FE8

Watching the video series on Emerald Mini inspired me to make something similar with FE8, where I shrunk every map in the main campaign, Tower of Valni, and Lagdou Ruins (I am excluding Melkaen Coast, at least for now) to the smallest possible size, which is 15x10. That’s it, that’s the hack. I did buff the difficulty by increasing hard mode bonuses and making easy/normal mode penalties bonuses again, but it’s also made unintentionally harder with less EXP opportunities.

Literally the inverse of FE4 lol.

Imagine if someone does that for Fire Emblem 4 that would shorten the game up a lot

All the maps would be like, 4 to 8 castles very close to each other lmao

This is like “the FEH map challenge” in concept and, as a map maker, I dig that as a premise. (Though, from the screens, I dunno how I feel about a ton of 1-tile pathways/chokepoints on principle, haha…)

I regret to inform you that this game is currently broken. The seize point for chapter 20 (Darkling Woods) is incorrectly set out of bounds.

Thanks for catching that. That problem existed in Eirika’s version, and it must have slipped from my head somehow. Either way, I fixed the issue.

Okay, finished the hack (I just fixed the bug in builder lol)

I have to say. Pretty neat execution of a fun and interesting concept. Literally the best FE8 redux ever. I do think chapter 21 is absolute misery if you don’t have trained Myrrh or a warper, and suggest … changing it. Those overlapping 40 atk shadowshot gorgons are evil, man

Made yet another minor bugfix where that village in chapter 6 no one visits actually works now.

Thank you for playing, and I’m happy you enjoyed it. I do plan on polishing up some unit placements, but that’s for another day.

So uh I played the game, got Gilliam killed in chapter 2 but he returned in chapter 3. Is that normal?

Oh, yeah, the same happened to Moulder. Died in C2, came back for C3, was gone again by C4 preps. lol all day I’ve been remembering I saw a bug but forgetting what it was…

You should also reduce Movement to its Engage Values, for further psychological warfare:

T1 infantry, Generals: 4
T2 Infantry, T1 mounted, Great Knights: 5
T2 mounted: 6

And why not? Trainees: 3

And make Boots +1 instead of +2

For my part, I really like that - aside from some slight enemy buffs - things are basically unchanged. Yeah, obviously it creates an imbalanced experience, but balance doesn’t really seem to be the point. Traversing half the map in a single cavalry move rules.

I’m telling you; his lingering will manifested as a spirit for a single chapter before moving on to the afterlife

I started and who knew sacred stone but smaller could be fun.
One thing though i think it be funny if the chapter with o neil was skipped in the fashion of it being a miniature Fe8 xD
