[FE6] [COMPLETE] Fire Emblem: Lyn's Bizarre Adventure PME v1.0

How big are promo gains?
I’m asking cause of how viable early promo is. Fe6 is the one game that I early promo in.

Dunno if its the same here as it was in TBS

@Dex I’m planning to have it the same way as my FE7 PME; every class gains a total of 18 boost to stats as promo gains, not counting Mov.

Lyn will be the only one to have an even higher boost at 20. You can take a look at her promo gains too, to have a basic idea.

@AnneEgge Yep correct!

My least favorite Bane to see is con and Hp. Con is not that problematic on base but -3 is brutal. Hp is even worse especially for early game units. -5 is just a death sentence. Early game is starved for proper bulk. I will Ironman this and I have some proper carries in mind. Zuiho will be very important.

Edit: Also units that a very high growth in 1 stat or neglected hp growth on a tank. Having a growth over 70% is honestly wasted cause after that stat is caped then the growth is wasted. Capping stats is nice but not required. Having a low growth total means that growths should be distributed more equally with a light focus on certain stats. Rant over.

Time to make a -HP Cleric

We have a stalwart that replaces Shanna with a Hp Bane. That life is going to be snuffed out quickly. I think I’m going sacae just because Hector is the closest thing to a tank we get early on.

I don’t plan to play a pme often and I’m very familiar with Fe6 and pmes involving it. I’m very confident that I can beat it and it’s the only way I can enjoy Fe6.

I made nix to be a mounted forblaze user or a early promo mage knight. Gaining staff rank is easy in this game and she can use heavier tomes due to her con Boon. She is mainly intended to help out as a mounted warp user. She also has the most supports in the game tied with Lyn so she can also be a mobile support bot with the Anima Affinity. I put way to much thought in stuff like this.

Promotion gains in fe6 are the base stats of your new class minus the base stats of your old class.

If you’re optimizing for power, CON is actually one of the better banes.

At a minimum, you can negate it with a SPD boon, giving you up to +3 AS with lighter weapon types at the cost of only an effective -3 to your SPD cap with heavier weapon types (and not picking another boon/bane pairing).

If you’re a dancer, bard, manakete, knight, etc., or are replacing a high personal con unit (such as Dieck), the con bane is basically irrelevant to you because you still won’t be weighed down by any of the (good) weapons you can use.

Technically, if you’re optimizing for power, it’s actually usually optimal to dump HP and put any growths you would have put into HP into def and res instead. Unless you’re being ohko’d, that investment will give you equal bulk vs. 2hkos and greater bulk vs. >=3hkos. Def and res technically have lower caps than HP does, but by the time you hit them, you’ll have access to either a promotion or the ch. 16 angelic robe shop anyway.

Ok quick question is Lyn (lord one can promote with promo item os he Has the to wait like Roy?

@Ignis Lyn will promote automatically like vanilla, but she’ll promote much earlier!

I’ll post the next dev log later on today explaining about it as well as other things regarding gameplay, and I’ll also finally post some screenshots showcasing how the game is looking so far! :star:

—DEV LOG #02—
This will be a more simple one, but with some important information about gameplay.

First things first, as I posted about it before, Lyn Will Promote Earlier!

From what I saw of some FE6 rebalances, the general consensus is to make the lord promote before the Sacae/Ilia route split, so in this hack Lyn will automatically promote at the end of Chapter 16!

Not only is it a big boon for her before the route split, but also before the 16x Gaiden Chapter too!
(She’ll still only recieve the ‘Binding Blade’ at the end of Chapter 21, same as vanilla)

One more thing. In vanilla, Guinivere gifts Roy the Fire Emblem in Chapter 16 but as dialogue only, so I’ll also do something similar in the hack and more; the Fire Emblem will also make an appearance when Lyn is promoting! It will be a cutscene only item however, but with it’s own icon by Batima.

And so, here’s an animated gif showcasing the promotion!

50b3ca540c

The dialogue is a bit of a little joke lol. It will be changed in the final release of the hack.

And as you can see, the promo gains are also working correctly!
(Oh and not to worry; it does still says Str, but it will be properly renamed to Pow)

Now here’s the first of many information about gameplay; I’ll make adjustments on all chapters, but mostly small, light ones, not do complete 100% overhauls of all chapters or enemies or the like.

One of the first of small changes is the bonuses that enemies gain in Hard Mode:

fe6lba-screenshot05

The ‘Hard-Mode Bonuses’ from the image above is the main mechanic that buff enemies in Hard difficulty. As you can see it works as a specific number of points per chapter, with later ones being even higher and higher. So what I’ll do for the HMB specifically is simply reduce all of the chapter HMBs by 1 point from vanilla. While for the first five chapters specifically, I’ll reduce it by 2 points instead from vanilla (the above image is from chapter 1, which is 4 HMB in vanilla, so naturally it will be 2 HMB in this hack).

This very small nerf is to make enemies in Hard Mode just a tad, little bit more manageable. Perhaps the 1 less point of buff will make a certain enemy actually able to be doubled otherwise, or reduce it’s power to make a player unit actually survive an attack otherwise, etc. With the bigger nerf in the first chapters making the early game hell more manageable.

But not only that, and as I said before I’ll also do some small changes in the maps, like units positions, spawn points etc, but this will be mostly on the early chapters, while in later chapters it will be more to give enemies some of the new classes only, like Pilgrims and Deserters etc.

Lemme show some map screenshots to demonstrate!
(And also, as you can see, I’ll import map palettes from FE8! Hope it looks great!)

fe6lba-screenshot02
fe6lba-screenshot01

The very first Chapter 01, with a slightly different map design and already introducing new enemy classes for you to fight like the Vandals and the Hunters.

fe6lba-screenshot03

Chapter 02, and as you can see the Daneese Squad is a little closer to the right so you can move both of the armor gals to the forts, in the same turn!

fe6lba-screenshot04

Chapter 05 showcasing a new formation of the enemies close to the seize objective, with female Deserters serving as bodyguards next to the boss.

And that’s that for now! I’ll explain more in the next days to come, as I still need to make sure everything is balanced and working correctly as I have so much to think and rationalize about lol.

Cheers. :star:

Note that, if you fix the bug that accidentally doubles the HMBs of mapstart ch. 1-5 enemies, that will on its own make the early game much more manageable. I’m not sure that reducing HMBs again on top of that halving will be necessary/good for the difficulty curve.

I believe that this bug can be fixed by removing the calls to ASM function 0x806BAF1 in the start events of ch. 1-5, although you may wish to test that to confirm.
