[BETA][COMPLETE][Lex Talionis] Fate of the Fallen - 21/21 Chapters & 13/13 Epilogue Chapters

Oh God this is where the “never talking to towns people” karma finally catches up to me HAHA God knows how many items I missed back in the Pokemon games bc of that lol, okay thank you! I mean I am at chapter 21 now so I’m afraid that ship has sailed hahaha but I like the game a lot so I’ll probably just play it again <3 And thank you for checking into it, but please only do it if it’s not a bother! I think I can make it for a while without blonde men in my life hahaha /jk But if you end up needing the save data, let me know!

OH AND HELL YES I was wondering if there was more to the series bc I so want to know whether the gang makes it back to the mortal realm lmao bc I need to kick Rodius jr.'s sorry behind!!! Looking forward to it & wishing you the best of luck!!!

Hey, Chapter 21 has the last skirmish, so you’ve still got a chance haha
I’ve also checked into Chapter 20’s recruitment mechanics, and it works as intended, but it just might not be super clear. So I’ve gone ahead and added more specifics about how it works into the credits doc and I’ll be sure to add it to the link with the next release in October. If you’d like to know the specifics ASAP, you can send me a direct message here and I’ll let you know haha. Just like avoiding as many spoilers as possible on the main thread.
Thanks to this I’ve also seen another issue that was reported, so thanks for that. Love good accidental fix finds haha
And yes, this is actually going to be the first of a trilogy. FotF2 is prolly going to be a lot different mechanically though, simply because I’ve learned so much making this and my other short games.
First thing is first though, gotta get those supports finished haha
Speaking of, if you’re carrying your saves from version to version, you should be able to unlock the Deerborn x Reese B supports by rewatching all their Cs again. If that doesn’t work let me know and I’ll figure out what else is causing havoc lol

Gonna post a little update here to announce a big bug fixing patch for some of the things reported here and other things reported in Discord.
Please if you do run into any bugs or odd behavior, give me a heads up <3 I may be busy, but I always love talking about this game and how broken it is so I can fix it up haha

Hi. Your hack is really fantastic, the gameplay is funny, difficult but not impossible and the story is very original. I just want to ask why som enemies have items that you cannot steal and they will not give once defeated. Are some captrure mecanics somehow?

Hey, thanks so much for enjoying my game <3
This question has been asked enough that I’m thinking I should add an FAQ section to the Opening Post haha.

So the secret item you can find in the prologue and chapter 2 is capable of changing a unit’s class. And one of the units you gain in Chapter 2 is capable of changing into a thief, thus giving you a thief earlier than technically planned, and allowing those items to be stolen. Those extra items on the enemies in those early chapters are just little extra rewards given to people who make use of this item in this way. None of them should be game breakers, but I know how the completionish bug can gnaw at a player :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thank you so much for asking and I hope you keep enjoying Fate of the Fallen.

Boo! It’s October 1st, and that means it’s time to grab our costumes and play our spookiest game, Fate of the Fallen!
I mean… when you think about it, there are some spooky things going on in here, so maybe it’s valid?
Even if it isn’t you should play anyway, because I come bearing new cool stuff!
For this month, Patron’s gain access to Varton’s epilogue, with gambling shenanigans galore. And Doe’s epilogue is being released publicly!
With my move taking up all my free time, including finding a new job in my new state surprisingly quickly, I’ve unfortunately not had all that much time to work on Supports, but with things quieting down finally, I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to get back to work on them sooner rather than later.
As always, please let me know any bugs or errors that pop up while you’re playing if you can. Anything as small as a missing error is nice to know about so I can jump in and fix it lol.
But also, don’t be afraid to just drop by and tell me about your favorite moments or characters. Nothing I enjoy more than nerding out over games haha!
With that, I’ll let you go and get to the game we’re all here for. Thank you for playing, I hope you enjoy Fate of the Fallen!

It’s a new month! plus some change Welcome to November, and the new public release of Fate of the Fallen.
This month we bring to you Varton’s epilogue in all it’s gambling glory! and Patreon’s get the biggest Epilogue chapter yet for Ollie!
I also got a little bit of good work done with the supports, but who woulda guessed it, finding time/motivation to write is difficult! They’re getting done, just not as fast as I would like.
Anyway, Varton’s epilogue is an interesting one as it contains an optional mechanic that some people who have played my other game, Myriad Fortunes, might find familiar.
So hilariously, if you’ve recently fallen for Fortuna, this might be a great time to test your Fate in Purgatory too!
As always, if you find any bugs, have any feedback, or just want to hang out with a bunch of nice people who also like my games, then come on and join the discord. Or if you hate discord (which I totally get) you could also just leave a post here.
And if you have the money and would like to support me making more cool stuff in the future, you can visit my Patreon linked in the OP, where you can get new FotF chapters a month early, or you can help me feed my cat on Ko-Fi. He’s adorable, but so hungry.
Alright, with that I’ll let you go and experience some new Fate of the Fallen content! The link is in the OP as usual. From the bottom of my heart, I hope you enjoy <3.

I accidentally deleted my saves while changing versions, Is the hub+grinding area in Ch 16 available? All your updates talk about epilogues so I’m worried you forgot about that.

I’m sorry to hear about that, I wish there was a secret solution I could use to restore your saves, but if they’re gone they’re gone unfortunately.
And I haven’t forgotten about it, it just hasn’t been high on my priority list, but I can do my best to try and get it ready for the release next month. :+1:

I lost the saves because I run on autopilot, tis my fault friend.
The hub worries me because 19x is there and to reach it you need to either cheat or make sure Kree kills every promoted enemy up till there.

I still feel for ya, I’ve lost enough saves to know the pain lol.
I’ve had a player get to the required level just by having Kree kill all the enemies in 19 itself lol. I don’t recommend it, but that’s lowkey why I set the goal where it’s at.
As long as you use Kree a bit in the preceding maps it should be possible to get him to the 9.
But if you are having serious issues, that’s a good thing for me to know so I can make adjustments.
Personally, I think the skirmishes are more there for players who want to grind, if that’s what they consider a good time, but I don’t want grinding to ever actually be the solution to any balance issues.

I consider skirmishes an indication for the level my main party needs to have for the next chapter and grind a bit to keep the other members leveled, so enemies at lvl 9 tell me that’s about the level I’m expected to have the next chapter. Grinding is not necessary if you play it the old way (never change party) but if you are interested in supports and like to change your formations frequently then it’s imperative to grind, therefore feeding Kree all the promoted kills to Ch 19 or having him kill all enemies in said chapter makes the game boring. I’d like at to be able to promote all my units at the previous hub and at the very least be able to go promoted Lvl 5 at CH 16 hub.

A new dawn is approaching for all those who long to play LT games on smaller screens!

I encourage everyone who has ever asked if there was a way to play any of my games on mobile to check out this ingenious tutorial by @Eretein when you get the chance.
I don’t have an android device myself, but they put a tremendous amount of impressive work into finding a solution for those who do.

Happy holidays! I hope everyone in North America was able to have a decent thanksgiving, and I hope everyone elsewhere was able to deal with all the Americans taking the spotlight for a minute.

This month brings us a new release, and because it has been asked for and wanted, I shifted focus from the Epilogues and made a different chapter. Now, between Chapter 15 and 16, a new free roam segment has been introduced that allows the player to skirmish and grind and access the base.

So players can now make sure they’re nice and ready before sailing into the end game. Even making sure they have as many supports as they’d like to with most of the player characters.

This does mean the Ollie Epilogue won’t be released for another month, but I felt the free roam chapter was more important to get to the public version ASAP.

As always, the link in the OP has been updated with the newest patch, and if there’s any new bugs introduced in this new version with this additional skirmish, please do let me know either here or on the Unimportant Purgatory Discord Server.
More holidays are coming up, so I wish you all a season’s greetings while you’re playing Fate of the Fallen!

How does good boy works exactly? The description is a bit short and those supposed growths don’t change when close to another unit, unless you are telling me that his maximum growths change for every turn he ends up with another unit, that would explain the 56 in one of the growths.
Edit. I investigated a bit and it seems that way, it’s a disappointing and time-waster skill, I’d rather have a plain increase in his growths.

I’m not sure what the alternative would’ve been, but I’m glad you figured it out.

The alternative could have been anything? Going by the name something like when close to Reese +5 to all stats. The skill right now exist to make you waste 50 turns in a skirmish to get his growths to 100 (dunno if there ways to alter the growths from STR MAG DEF and to a lesser extent SPD) or you can just simply cheat growth items.

Kindred is a completely optional character unlocked with the Skirmishes, so him having a skill that certain players can crack a little if they want to spend the time in skirmishes to do so makes a little sense lol.
I considered at one point making it not work during skirmishes, but I didn’t want to police people’s fun, and some people really like min-maxing haha
The stat which is increased is based on the units he is adjacent to, and it checks both enemies and allies.
Of course there is a limit to his growth increases, which is when Good Boy becomes Best Boy.
The description is a little vague, but I don’t really think it’s confusing since you guessed what it was pretty quickly, it just wasn’t what you wanted it to be.

In a way you are right, I tend to maximize games you know the collector’s rush and all that, so things like that crush my motivation to play by the rules. I question your definition of fun = interminable skirmish grind with multiple characters though…

It’s not my definition, I just know a few players who’ve made some real interesting Kindreds lol.
But, like I said, he’s optional, missable, and if you don’t want to use him in that minmaxy way, you don’t have to.
I usually just use him in normal chapters and let his growths go where they may haha
