What are his maximum growths before you get best boy? I’m slightly curious about the level of masochism needed.

Best Boy is gained upon reaching 300 increased Growths.
Depending on the units you surround him with, you can reach the cap in just under 40 turns.

The main story is complete, but they’re still adding supports and post game

That’s exactly it, at the moment there’s still 2 post game chapters to implement, and 100-200 support conversations to add.

In that case calling it still beta makes sense since while its able to play from start to end its not fully done yet. That sound like lot of dialoge is to be added .

It’s been a hot minute, but welcome to a new first of the month complete with a new release for Fate of the Fallen!
It might surprise you to learn that my absence was caused by development for another game, Power of Personality, which I recently released the Proof of Concept demo for on my Patreon. It’s a partially Roguelite game inspired by the gameplay of Persona, DnD, and Final Fantasy Tactics, among other games. However, this post isn’t about PoP, it’s about FotF!
Last release brought us the long awaited Chapter 15 Hub area with new skirmishes to help with the end game chapters. This release brings us back to the Epilogues with Ollie’s Epilogue being released publically, and Xaliander’s Epilogue being released on the Patreon.
Ollie’s chapter is very fun and a good deal more complex than any epilogue has the right to be, but no regrets lol. While Xaliander’s might be a little different from the norm, in that it’s a Stealth Chapter! I know of a few people who have played with the idea of making a stealth map in LT, well, I went and joined that bandwagon, and I’m pretty happy with how it came out too.

How many chapters total and game can be played til the end?
So there are 21 chapters in the main game and all can be played from beginning to end.
There are also 13 Epilogue Chapters, which are smaller scale chapters with lower party count and other gimmicks. 12 of these Epilogue chapters are finished.

I think I know what’s causing it. Which might be an annoying LT bug, but if I can fix it myself it’ll be fixed ASAP. Thanks for reporting <3
Turns out it was a quick fix.
The new patch is being uploaded currently. All you’ll need to do is reload the chapter and it should work without issue

Hello. I wanted to ask how do I unlock the gender swap ability ?
I started in the modified difficulty but no option prompted me to change anything.

Something certainly could’ve broken in an update so I’ll go check right now to see if I can replicate this. Thanks for asking <3 I’ll have a more defined answer shortly.
I don’t know when or how, but at some point the modifier table got deleted or removed accidentally.
I’m going to have to find an old backup that has it to rip the table from.
I’ll have a fixed version out shortly. Thanks for the report.

hey, sorry if this has been answered elsewhere in the thread (or if it is a question with an obvious answer im missing), im nervous about stumbling across spoilers so i hesitate to look
how do you obtain an updated version of the game? i downloaded a couple weeks ago, apparently just prior to the patch you announced fixing the bug with unit selection in chapter 7 Fringus reported above. i tried following the google drive link in the link to play dropdown, same as when i first got the game, then copied the contents of the saves folder into the fresh download, but i am meeting the same issue. is there some other link i’m missing? is it an issue with copying the saves folder over?
fotf is an astoundingly good project, thank you for the time you’ve put into it!

Make sure that you are restarting the chapter from the beginning, not a save from prep. If that’s still not working, then you might not be using the right version, maybe accidentally mixing it up with an old download.
If you’re still having issues, worst case scenario you can join the Discord Server and I can walk you through turning on debug mode. Hilariously we should be able to solve the issue with a single line of code.

Not sure if its been asked before, and I didn’t see anything in a brief search, but…
Is it recommended to promote earlier, or later in this game?
I’m on chapter 6 and having a great time!
The one thing I’m struggling with…
Summary
When the heck do I get a healer?! Come on, I’m rationing my vulneraries here! If I don’t get a healer soon I might end up getting softlocked!

So I always put off promotions until the very last minute, so that’s kinda what I tested around. Though I have had other playtesters who immediately promote and they haven’t had issues. So I’d mostly say it’s up to you, but I’d maybe try to get to level 15 maybe?

Hilariously, Chapter 6 is when you get your healer haha.
But if you really want a healer a little early, you can use a Class Mirror, which you can find as the secret item for both chapter 0 and chapter 2, and change Rosa’s class in Chapter 4 to a Healer.
You also unlock Skirmishes in the free roam area after Chapter 4 which you can use to do some light grinding to help you buy more vulneraries in town before moving on to chapter 5 or 6.
