Best PMEs to play?

The question is simple. It’s on the topic name, but I DO want to say beforehand that I’m looking for PMEs of the base games, not existing ROMs. I bring this question up because of my involvement in the recent FE8 PME. Curious to see the results.

Back when I was more active here, I used to participate on a few pick my edits, this is the only one I know to have a released playable version as of now, unsure if it was completed though:

Dunno if it can be considered one of the best to play, but unfortunately I don’t know any other very well.

Since so many people suggest ideas for them, they end up very unbalaced, with stuff like extremely weak or strong units and with frustating challenges.

A part of the rom hacking community also isn’t a big fan of them, so there isn’t a lot of people who took their time to play through them.

Also, I found these two that are apparently complete, so might be worth checking them out:

As the creator of that Re:Write PME, I want to add that while yes, it is mostly playable, it’s missing a few characters on the playable roster and pretty much all the bosses except for the first because Taylor actually finished that on my behalf and yet a bunch of stuff flew over (pretty typical to be honest :sweat:). Sadly, I’m probably not going to do much with it nowadays because I’m swamped with other hacking commitments at the moment, and I’d much rather remake that from the ground up again than have to dig through the swaths of errors present. But suppose you want a complete PME experience from me. In that case, I’d much rather suggest my recent collab PME with Taylor dubbed “FE6 Cherry Chainsaw Edition,” which I’ll link here: Athena and Taylor's Binding Blade PME aka "The Cherry Chainsaw Edition" (Patch Out) It’s not perfect, and it might not even be a good PME to play, but this one is complete, which is what matters :two_hearts: I’m also working on a remake of my very first one as we speak (should have “Revived” in the parentheses); it’s only got Chapter 1 released so far (and not even all the content I had planned for it), but I am chipping away at Chapter 2 slowly but surely, so if you’d like, be sure to check that out for future updates :sparkling_heart:

In terms of others I’d recommend, SilverRoy’s first PME, “FE7 The Blazing Silver” is also a very polished and fun experience worth checking out: [FE7] [COMPLETE] Fire Emblem: The Blazing Silver PME v1.0b I haven’t gotten around to this one yet, but it has plenty to offer with lots of class variety, interesting spins on the formula, a rewritten story, and yours truly has a playable character who’s top-tier, or at least some say, so what’s not to love? :sunglasses: Plus, it even has an expansion/overhaul titled “Elysium Ablaze” which is also very much worth diving into: [FE7] [Complete] Elysium Ablaze - A FE7 PME expanded upon [16 Chapters] It’s a more condensed but engaging version of the campaign with another rewritten story and even more new characters to mess around with :heart_decoration:

Hope these help with your quest, and have a good rest of your night

It happens, haha. As someone who played around with Febuilder a few times, I can say making hacks is hard and sometimes you just lose interest in a specific project, it’s normal.

Hope you other hacking stuff goes well.
