What Hack Characters Are Your Favorites and Why?

Do5 Garath. Though Warpath and Pandan have already covered everything there is to say about him.

RtR Ava. Unique jeigan concept, and while she initially sits on the sidelines being all “training training training”, once her backstory comes out she has a much bigger stake in the story than Vance does, and actually becomes a really good unit once she’s forced out of her shell. She deserved to be the main lord for the entire rest of the game after Vance’s absent spell tbh.

VQ Titus. Sadly I can’t really say much about him without spoiling beyond the end of the current demo. Just play VQ when it releases :stuck_out_tongue:

Setanta from Last Heavenly Throne, and Vergil from Lonely Mirror. They’re both incredibly strong axe cavaliers (one of my favorite classes) who feel really good to use, but they’re not really that overpowered. Using Setanta or Vergil to their full potential actually does require quite a lot of strategy, but it feels super good when it does. (The flyers in Staff of Ages are also a lot like this for me. Using them legitimately feels like just flying above the battlefield and swooping down in the perfect locations.)

From a more well-rounded perspective, Arckady and Esfir from Vision Quest. They’re strong units (I’m pretty sure everyone who’s played VQ agrees that Esfir is at least high-tier), fun characters (read Esfir’s boss conversation with the 1-F boss. Just do it.) that also have a surprising amount of depth, and good portraits.

Neptune from Hiraeth. I mean, just look at her perfect mug. She’s also your only way to winning the first chapter lol

Nazar is pretty cool too, if anyone remembers the VQ Iron Runa he was our saviour

I don’t know, I need to play more hacks

caiaphas hiraeth but the world isn’t allowed to know why yet.

To actually contribute, Corben TLP is a super epic unit that’s just plain strong, and Sriwehn LHT looking cute.

Neptune is one of my favourite (best portrait ever)
(Expecting to see some Kelik below)
Tambo from FEPoop

Lawrence from dragon herald (based on how he could two shot every enemy and 3 shot the final boss) (the above calculations doesn’t work if he activate crit or pierce, which results in instant death)

real favourite: tactician from the dark lord and xxxxxxxxx hack , a real smart one, but not spamming tomes and swords one (although favors kiwi too, but not as much) (ok fbi is knocking on my door)

Sigurd from Fire Emblem IV: Inheritors of the Crusade.

…You never said vanilla FE characters in hacks don’t count.

Titus. He’s a super entertaining character with believable motivations. His arc is one of the best parts of Vision Quest! The game wouldn’t be the same without him.

All of them ^^

I liked Faratras and her different take on FE8’s Demon King. I enjoyed the twists and turns of her story, and she’s a pretty decent unit herself being a rather tanky dark magic user. She may now no longer count as a hack character, but I’m still looking forward to how her story continues elsewhere.

Shinshou from TLP, for being literally the only Canadian in both Fire Emblem and romhacking history. Also, he has B axes and more strength than the boss of chapter 19, at chapter 6. But mostly because he’s the funny Canada man.

Sebastian and Kate from Staff of Ages and Neptune from Hiraeth come to mind as well. I’m quite fond of how Sebastian was written, and his dynamic with Seneca. As for the other two… uh, bangs over eyes.

Sylvester from Terror of The Forest.
Seriously he makes this hack.
Also Akivar from Hiraeth: Legacies.
I’m going to blame Busk for making her so likeable. (Also armor geek)
(Not sure if she counts but Serra in most of the ragefest submissions. Albeit not being an oc, I really like how she is often used in them even though I’m not a fan of hers in FE7)

omg yes I can’t believ-

Okay real talk shoutout to the No Anime Penguin who speaks exclusively in Bosnian from CE. True character design at it’s finest.

I’m probably mega bias to the characters I sprite, but Mako and Akivar from Hiraeth are epic. Setanta and Sadhbh from LHT are also epic. Does Faratras count anymore since not technically a hack anymore? Oh well, she’s up there too. I don’t play a lot of hacks, so my view is pretty limited.

Not sadism
It’s a attempt murder on Matthew’s mental health

Larisa from VQ! (me making her mug has nothing to do with her being my favorite)
female armorknights aren’t that many (Meg is a joke, Gwendolyn/Wendy is… meh, Kjelle is not canon anyway), so seeing a good, functional female armor knight is nice!
and she can be useful in her joining chapter, overall a good unit

and I deffo agree with this

YAS THIS TOO LERA HATERS GET OUT

i can actually relate to Jenna in THWD, so she’s kinda my fav unit in THWD

and the last one
von Aegir
do i need to explain

It feels weird saying how much you like a THWD character because they’re based on real people.

Eric is def my fave THWD character next to vulnerary salesperson Doug…

THWD characters? Why would you buy vulneraries or pineapple pizza when you could purchase a lightly-used, certified pre-owned vehicle, Dan?

Alicia from Requiem seems to be like a big bad bitch at first considering she comes off as some knockoff Ursula. However, Requiem decided to make her a main character. Her begrudging cooperation with Ash to eventually becoming friends with him and her dialogue being crass makes the story a lot less melodramatic. She’s changed the most throughout the whole story and her realizing obtaining power through dark magic kinda sucks and reconcile with the other playable characters in a satisfying end makes her a surprisingly good character. Alicia is not a bad unit by any means either.

Alicia’s a lot more fun to watch than someone like Anakin or Kelik or Shon by a long stretch in a " this character is somewhat interesting and cool unironically" sort of way.

I haven’t played many other completed hacks besides TLP so take my opinions with a grain of salt.
