Hi everyone i’m Soy! I’ve been workkng and brainstorming on making a Fire Emblem based rom for awhile now but I kinda am at a wall and want to know of good resources or advice on things? I am using FE Builder and im new to it. Biggest block im running into is where to make maps and chapters. Anything is appreciated!!

-Outline your story
-Set a schedule for yourself to work on different things each session. In experience, this helps prevent burnout.
It doesnt matter what you do, as long as you make progress then you’re good to go.
-Dont be afraid to ask for help on FEUcord
-Ultra’s FEB Helps FAQ Is extremely useful. Highly recommend going through this as well

Where to make maps and chapters? Maps are made in Map Editor. You’d ideally want to “overwrite” an existing map; I usually start by selecting a tile of grass or floor and then covering the whole map with it for a fresh start. As you build the map, take time playing with every tile, see what connects to where, what can be used as a shadow, etc.
Chapters are called by events. For example, in the End Event of a given chapter, which you can quickly access on the right-hand side of Simple Menu, you need to add the “Go to next chapter…” command as your second-to-last line in the end event, with Return (Enda) being the last, in order to move forward to the next chapter.

make multiple tabs with different elements to work on and keep track of.
There is a thread about the use of design bibles (spreadsheets) on this forum so I suggest seeking that out.

Always get play-testers nothing is every done correctly first try so when it is done give it to a few folks you trust to test it and give you their honest answers

Play as many rom hacks as you can. Play good hacks, bad hacks and the wacky ones. Study them, and learn all you can. It’ll make development easier in the long run.

Thank you for this!! Sorry for the radio silence but this source helped me immensely! The video explaining how to build a chapter help me climb iver some of the walls I was stuck at! As soon as I make decent enough progress on the ROM expect to see a post about it
