(so it’s like, training this unit is, like, the last refuge, or something, you know?) hey how about it, that’s the premise of the SIGURD chapter I made. train the unit or you can’t win against jarnef. for real this time. it’s not a seize either. also the other deal is that this is presumably the last chapter of a longer game that doesn’t exist. I had a lot of fun making units for this and imagining where they started out, and maybe you can too. Since you have 11 other units who don’t show up in the main story, instead of doing talk conversations to flesh out their characters more, I went for the approach of some sparse battle quotes with a select few bosses + a final chapter quote because, like, it’s the final chapter, dude, lmao

Just finished this - it was fun!

Feedback

I love training ests and this was pretty much the purest est-training experience there is, complete with soloing the rest of the game once you gain enough levels. Managed to get Johanna to 20/13 by the end.


Gotta love gaining no stats in the later levels since everything’s capped already

The rest of the cast had pretty fun tools too, I especially enjoyed Ted and Victor. You also really nailed down that final chapter feel, with the dreadlords & a bunch of legendary weapons. I appreciate how most player units had non-whole weapon ranks to imply that this was just someone’s final chapter save, although everyone having 0 exp & full weapon uses kind of broke that immersion. The story also felt very Archanea-y, with minimal personality/dialogue for the secondary characters, and the ending had a funny moment.

The map did feel a bit awkward to me with the alternating opening of rooms - it felt like you were meant to split up, but I wanted to give Johanna all the kills, so it ended up being this awkward back-and-forth of constantly sending everyone to the other side of the map in a blob. I’m pretty sure I also played much more slowly than the map expected, and the final doors opened up while I was still at the initial area, so I ended up fighting the final boss near the middle of the map. Still, this is probably on me for trying too hard to get Johanna to 20/20.

Overall, this was still a very fun map & training arc! Growth units are so much fun.

Interesting that you mentioned this. My intent was just that they were, like, normal units in an average FE, and their arcs are already completed and such

Yeah I definitely intended splitting. It turns out that Johanna grows quickly enough she only needs like half the kills anyway. I just think in general with many units like this, splitting is pretty fun
