Just as important, what would such an item be called?
Armour polish?
Improvised plating? (Effect going away over time would symbolize armor plates shoddily added falling off)
I think a cool barrier staff equivalent name could be like “bolster” or “aegis.”

Although I still don’t fully understand asm, I still recommend you to watch Tequila’s ASM Guide, It’s always a good start for beginners.
You can also take a look at Vesly’s C Setup Guide, there is often not only one way to learn this power.
