
Hello, I am pleased to announce that development on FE Oathbreaker has made significant progress. Though, it has been slower than I’d like. Having major brain surgery at the beginning of 2024 tends to throw a wrench into things. Yes, there is a brain in there, apparently.

TL:DR/Update
15 out of 36 chapters are done. With the rest being rather simple to complete, it’s just a matter of actually sitting down and, y’know, doing it.
Script is complete, most supports are complete.
Animations are mostly finished and implemented. Music is done. Most portraits are done. (Thanks Monk-han) My personal goal is to finish and release the game by the end of 2024.
(Also as of now, the demo is not available. I had planned to maybe release another demo up to chapter 11 if there’s enough interest. But let’s be real, not many people want to play an unfinished hack.)
So what’s left?
Well, here’s the part where I’m stuck.

It would seem I am in need of a wizard’s aid.
There are a few specific things I’d like to implement into the game, and I am now at the point that I’m reaching out to others for help.
#1: I need a wizard that has experience doing custom skill builds for FE8 skill systems. Specifically editing skills/creating new skills. One major thing I’d like to implement is a rebuild of proc skills (Astra, Luna, etc.) I’d rather have some of these skills rebuilt into player phase “combat arts” that are selected when attacking, which I believe is within the realm of possibility using a skill like Gamble as a framework. Others, like Luna for example, I’d like to implement like the Engage Lunar Brace. I do believe things like this are possible, and maybe even easy to create. I just have no experience with actual coding. After messing with it, trying to edit stuff myself, and bricking the rom several times, at this point I’d rather collaborate with others than devote myself to things that are above my head/focus on finishing the rest of the game’s chapters. (One other big thing that grinds my gears is the Canto+ wait after every move bug from installing skill systems from FEBuilder. Idk if there’s a way to get rid of this, or if I’m just cooked from installing skill systems “wrong.”)
#2: I need a wizard that has experience with creating world map events. FE7 style. Will not be implementing a world map that you move on, as the game will be linear.
I’ve messed with it, read tutorials on how to do it, such as this one.
Tried implementing it, and bricked the rom several times, I’m ready to throw in the towel and ask for help.
Yes yes, I’ve heard time and again “Do you really need map events? Why not just use a text box, etc.” And while I appreciate that sentiment, to me map events are important for the presentation of the game and it’s story. I’m sure most people that have or are working on a hack can appreciate the sentiment that at this point, I need to have this specific thing for the vision of the game.
#3: Less important but still wanted, I need a generalist wizard for advice on eventing. I, like most people using FEBuilder, am learning as I go what events are needed per chapter. Some particularly tricky events that I’m not sure on how to implement are things like how to transfer a units stats and experience to another, party swaps/rejoins, auto-leveling player units, branching events, etc.
If you’re a wizard that happens to be adept at 2 or all 3 of these things, great.
I am open to any amount of advice on implementing any of these things.
If interested, I’d be willing to pay commissions for people that want to actually take the time to do the work itself and send it to me to import, instead of just giving advice.
I am out of work at the moment what with the whole post brain surgery business and all, but I am willing to use money from my savings if that’s what it takes to finish this game. Payment will likely be a one time fee per job.
(I’ll pay you a flat rate for creating a custom skill build, or for creating a template for inserting map events that just needs text/portraits loaded on my end, for example.)

Payment would be USD via Paypal. I’m open to other forms of compensation like trading work if it’s something you need. Whether that’s proofreading/rewriting scripts, map creation, fine-tuning chapter balance, scripting animations, splicing/touching up portraits, feet pics, or something else.
Once we begin, it would be preferable if you are able to discuss things in a discord voice call to talk through implementing things, but I understand if that’s not possible. English is my only language. I am on eastern time zone (EST, New York), though I can be quite the night owl when working on the rom.
