It is by an official artist (Cipher and Heroes) who drew it for fun

So…

Now Garon can’t mock Xander and his FEH alts anymore

I’m not sure in wich direction they wanted to actually go with these 2 artworks…seems like halfway between cringe and creepy.
Or maybe it’s just because it’s Nohr. Ahahah…ahah…aaah…

Zola’s blep looks so silly in Kozaki’s art (maybe I’m thinking this because of a fuckaas AU my friends have going on where among other things, Garon and Sumeragi explored each other’s bodies and Garon was half of the golden retriever of a man known as Sumeragi’s impulse control)

I’ll see if I remember to keep Garon in mind around Christmas season. It might be a fun alt, and I think I could fit the colour palette easily for it. I’ve been a bit preoccupied lately with Nightreign again, as well as some Mario Kart, Marvel Rivals and League on the side. League of Legends is starting to head into World’s Season soon so the itch is there amongst my friend group.

We’re down to the final 3 portraits, but at this stage I’m planning to do 2 break portraits after the next one before the final two.

I’ve updated the Fates post with the below entry under F2E - Fire Emblem (FE Fates - FE 14 Fates - Anthony)

FE 14 Fates - Anthony

The random NPC mole for Anankos in Revelations. Not much to say about generic young looking villager. Interesting head angle pose, but not much else really. I think if I were to revisit, I’d play with the colours more. I think his hair turned out maybe a tad bit darker than intended, but aside from that there is not much else really.

Man i keep forgetting this character exists. Mainly just because of how boring he looks.

Well Anthony was boring and pretty straightforward and the next character was also a quick sprite. However much more enjoyable to draw as the design was more fun and memorable. Hans’ head shape reminds me of Shurabe from B.C.V (the Game Grumps playthrough is gold). With this done the next two portraits aren’t going to be either Anankos or Sumeragi, but once they’re done they’re next. The end is in sight.

FE 14 Fates - Hans

Alright the last of Garon’s key subordinates and the last Berserker/Fighter from Fates Hans. I’m not going to lie, not having to draw hair does make the process of drawing a sprite usually a lot faster. Hans’ has a pretty odd shaped head for a bald character compared to the other bald characters in Fire Emblem, and his pose is also pretty unique amongst Fates and Awakening, only sort of done also by Vaike and Omozu. Still He was pretty fun to draw and the only thing I’d maybe change is see if I could play around with the colours (in particular his earring) to see if I could get a 3rd tone (brighter one) for the trimming on his armour.

So I got carried away on working on these two break portraits and got them done. They were quite fun to do after some of the more bland and straightforward portraits done previously. I also never said they weren’t Fates related this time either. So, onwards to the final 2. Any guesses who will be first of the final two?

I’ve updated the Fates post with the below entry under F2E - Fire Emblem (FE Fates - FE 14 Fates - Garon and Takumi Empty Vessel Versions)

FE 14 Fates - Garon Empty Vessel

So here is one of the alts I was thinking of doing. ‘Gooron’ or Empty Vessel Garon as seen when he sat upon the throne in Conquest. This one was an interesting challenge and required me to draw his bits in reverse (usually I do body, hair, then layers of clothing) to work it out where I did his cloak first, then his chest, then his crown and skull basis and finally the goo. I decided to also try something different for his frames, so he blinks with his chest light (which is the head of his dusk dragon form) instead and his eyes glow with speaking frames. Also since his hand was added there is an alt available without his hand too. I was also proud of how his cloak turned out so here is a shot of the bits not visible underneath the goo too.

FE 14 Fates - Takumi Empty Vessel

Here is another ‘fallen’ alt. This time the final Conquest boss, Takumi the Empty Vessel. I did consider doing his head lean back look, but that it was kind of weird thinking on how to pose it, while facing to on a turn like most GBA portraits. So I went with using another reference instead (except the reference hides his eyes, but I decided to keep one). This one was fun, I did consider doing the dusty sparkly effect as well instead of the glow but couldn’t get it to look ok, so settled for the flaming glow instead. There is a non flame glow option available as well.

Damn, these ones look pretty cool (and terrifying) ngl. Ever since you posted Takumi’s portrait, I was also thinking how a fallen alt would work since he doesn’t actually change his skin or clothing palette, so it was nice to see how you made it. And the Garon one also went out pretty well.

As for the next one, maybe Anankos would be next if you do his human portrait since his is actually really simple (and something tells me it’s pretty a very edited version of Robin’s hooded alt) but I’m gonna flip a coin (again) and bet the next one is Sumeragi.

Your initial gut feeling of putting off the hardest one for last was unfortunately the correct one. However Anankos is not a edit of any of my hooded Robins. However a hooded cloaked character like Anankos is way easier than something complex like Sumeragi. I don’t usually tend to copy and paste pieces like a splice or even use them as a basis unless there is a reasonable reason to (ie fallen Takumi’s clothes don’t change, so thats just recoloured and slightly changed or obviously the Robin’s don’t change clothes except for body types), so most of the time you see anything I’ve drawn, they’ve been drawn again from scratch even if they end up looking similar to something else I’ve drawn.

Onwards to the final one. Sumeragi. I may also contemplate doing the Nohrian and Hoshidan Villager NPCs girls before moving onto the Corrins too. Still thinking about that.

I’ve updated the Fates post with the below entry under F2E - Fire Emblem (FE Fates - FE 14 Fates - Anankos)

FE 14 Fates - Anankos

So here is Anankos’ humanoid form. His original sprite in Fates is really plain, so I decided to use his Cipher design as the main inspiration for his outfit. His Heroes look is a bit better than his Fates design, but his Cipher outfit better befits his status as an origin dragon for Fates. Basically I didn’t want to do a plain person in a hood, so I went with this more extravagantly designed cloak. I didn’t quite go as extreme as the cipher art because I couldn’t translate such detail to a small degree with the palette I was working with, but I think this turned out pretty well. I’m not sure I’d do his dragon form, so here are fallen alt versions, similar to the risen and Takumi Empty Vessel forms.

EDIT: Cipher Art reference for the outfit below;

Welp, at least I tried. Still, nice portraits.

Oh and also, since Lilith was a servant of the evil part of Anankos, and she got a fallen alt in Heroes, you could do an evil alt of Lilith (I don’t remember if her portrait did look a bit different in the Fates prequel dlc featuring Owain, Severa and Inigo).

Well I did it, I completed Sumeragi. He turned out not too bad considering how much I was dreading to draw his design. I think once I finished his hair and head piece lining it wasn’t so intimidating anymore (although to be fair those are the hardest designed parts of him). I think I will as a palette cleanser draw the two villager girls (Hoshidan and Nohrian) before starting the Corrins. When I complete those two I’ll complete the compilation image and upload the completed Fates set as well. Corrin like Robin will get their own image and set.

I’ve updated the Fates post with the below entry under F2E - Fire Emblem (FE Fates - FE 14 Fates - Sumeragi)

FE 14 Fates - Sumeragi

You know after all the dreading of trying to do another crazy Ryoma fit. Sumeragi wasn’t too bad in the end to do. Overall his mane of Hoshidan hair isn’t as thick as Ryoma’s but I think its kept the overall essence and spirit of it. I did have to sacrifice some smaller details on his headgear, but I think its Sumeragi enough. He almost in base fits entirely into the hackbox, but his far shoulder plate is slightly too long, but I think it looks alright cut off as it is. I have made a hackbox extension alt that expands his closest horn a little bit and the far shoulder plate a little bit if you want to use the extension patch and go down that route. Overall really happy with how it turned out, and it looks pretty nice when running in game too.

I bet his face would go well with Obi-Wan’s torso.

Alright I was kind of excited to finish the compilation image so I crunched out these last two portraits bringing the total portraits in the sample image 103. The zip itself contains 131 portraits (this includes alts and variants etc.)
This is far more portraits than I did for Awakening and I don’t think I have it in me any time soon to tackle any other titles (especially any with a large cast like Awakening and Fates (although… Heroes’ OC cast isn’t too big.. yet))

I’ve updated the Fates post with the below entry under F2E - Fire Emblem (FE Fates - FE 14 Fates - Hoshidan and Nohrian Villager Girl NPCs) and the following post under Sillies - FE Fates Saga Set

FE 14 Fates - Hoshidan and Nohrian Villager Girl NPCs

So as a palette cleanser after drawing a bunch of dudes in a row, I decided before moving onto the Corrins to also draw these two NPC girls, because I thought they had some nice character designs and I recall pre release in the west, there were a lot of fans of the Nohrian villager girl too. Overall I think they both ended up pretty clean. I’m particular happy with how the Nohrian villager turned out. WIth the Hoshidan one, I wasn’t as confident with the checker pattern she has on her outer coat, but I didn’t feel like trying to fidget with the colouring further.

FE Fates Saga Set

So like the Awakening set, this was made as a throwback to sprite rips you from back in the day, this is just a neat display of most of the Fates portraits I did.
Here is a Dropbox link of all the portraits as well;

There’s over 100 portraits in that example pic and over 130 portraits in that zip file.

Am I not alone in thinking this girl looks like Nanami from Valkyrie Profile? (And that’s not a bad thing btw)

Alright we got our first Corrin set and like I thought, 12 haircuts is exhausting. The Robins only had 6 each, but Corrin is double that… I won’t lie I had thoughts at haircuts 3/4 and 7 and 9 about whether or not I could be bothered…
On that note, to help with my process I actually made a bald Corrin base, would people be interested if I released that as well. That way people could give Corrin their own haircuts (or spliced others if they fit).

I’ve updated the Fates post with the below entry under F2E - Fire Emblem (FE Fates - FE 14 Fates - Corrin M1)

FE 14 Fates - Corrin M1

Alright the first set of Corrins, the base male body type and his twelve haircuts. I’ve managed to keep his hair to 3 unique tones and his darkest skin tone so, it should be plausible to re colour with a little bit more effort if required. I avoided using another skin tone in the hair like the Kanas because Corrin’s overall palette already uses more colours for their clothing as well leaving less spare. Honestly going over some of these haircuts, I wonder what Kozaki and IS were thinking, I’d doubt some of these haircuts would of been popular picks, however I did notice some haircuts that were used for other characters (Corrin has a Xander (ish), Jakob, Hinata, Hisame and Shigure haircuts as well as ones that look similar to Ignatz and Caspar). I won’t lie this was exhausting doing 12 haircuts.

Yeah, some of those haircuts are a bit weird indeed. The third one reminds me a bit of Ignatz from Three Houses, funny enough, while the seventh one reminds me of Patroklos from Soul Calibur 5 (ugh). A bald variant wouldn’t be bad for anyone that wants to give him some other haircuts. At least with this one you didn’t have to do different poses (I only remember Fem Corrin having these, so maybe I’m missing something).

Other than that, only Fem Corrin portraits left, 4 August days remain, lets gooooo!!!
