Posted! And seriously, do play the game if you have time. It’s well worth the experience.
Honestly? Playing this game actually made me appreciate the playable characters of FE6 a whole lot more than I did previously.
Summary
Because this is the first fan project that answered the question, ‘how will you feel after killing 75% of the main cast off?’
All of those characters that you get to nurture, train, and get to know in vanilla FE6… well, here’s what happens when you put them in front of insurmountable odds. It’s not a situation you’d ever see in vanilla, and how the characters react to their own impending deaths was something I found enlightening. It sure wasn’t fun, but it was very well-done in terms of writing.
You’d have to emulate then, getting them physically and patching a real copy with the fanslations would probably be unfeasible. Still, TRS is basically just more FE, which is never a bad thing, and Berwick Saga… well, it’s one of those games that you either love or hate, but those of us that love it, we really love it. There’s also two Vestaria Sagas on Steam.
I’d definitely recommend giving them a shot if you are able. They’re all good games, with their ups and downs, but that’s everything in life.
Sadly, Perez in a nutshell. It’s tough being Perez. For what it’s worth, he’s meant to get a lot more magic than Idunn, but… well, your Idunn had 28 magic so. Oof. His support list is also worse… Perhaps I should’ve made him support Idunn lol. Give him an incentive to coexist with her, if nothing else.
But yeah, in the end, he’s basically just that one guy you use on your second or third run to mix things up. Or if you really, really hate main characters - which, honestly, I might’ve been that guy if it wasn’t for the whole, y’know, maker of the hack thing.
WOOOOOOOOOOOO
As cool a Tick as the other Ticks I’ve seen. Tick Gaming
I just want to say I appreciate how you included the name of the chapter after I talked about having trouble with chapter numbers. That’s a pretty kind gesture lol (at least I’m assuming that’s why you did it)
That certainly was one of my goals with the hack. Shame I couldn’t fit every member of Binding Blade’s roster in there, but I’m happy enough with the way it turned out.
I know the question wasn’t directed at me, but here’s my thoughts.
Summary
I see Cath joining the insurrection forces to take down Zephiel. Not so sure what she’d do during the events of the game though.
Also, can we infer that characters who didn’t appear in-game survived the events (and possibly joined the insurrection post-game?)
I think the surviving cast (or least those who didn’t appear), beyond Cath, were Fir (mentioned by Bartre that she’s still alive), Saul, Dorothy, Astolfo, and Ogier.
I think it’s fairly logical to assume that whichever country wasn’t invaded (Sacae or Ilia) joins the insurrection as a major player in it. In my case, that’d be Zelot and Juno joining up with Sigune as major leaders of the insurrection.
Probably would’ve just been a minor miniboss. I don’t think the units who aren’t already bosses (or killed off) in the hack could’ve had a significant role, past the earlygame there wasn’t room for randos in the story. I did consider Astolfo for chapter 2, but it felt weird for a spy to lead an army sitting tight and defending a location. And I didn’t want to risk weirdness with thief AI moving the boss off the throne.
Perhaps she would’ve appeared in some map or other, try to take the treasure and then get killed horribly to stop her because, well, she sure wouldn’t be recruitable so there’d be no reason to give her the leeway one gives her in vanilla lol
I can’t imagine Bern would leave a major threat like Sacae/Ilia unchecked. Furthermore, they’d be completely isolated at the end of the war. They likely got cleaned up between the ending and the last scene with Zephiel and Idunn.
As for the characters who don’t appear, though? Yeah, they probably lived. They’re not important people, so Bern has no more reason to go after them than any other random person. Playable characters for the sequel? There’s certainly food for thought in how they’d handle living in a post-FE6 reality where every other good guy is dead.
Just one thing
Raigh also lives. Kabul states “two kids” were with the priest at the orphanage. They were, of course, Lugh and Chad. Raigh had already left the orphanage beforehand like in vanilla. I just never had room to use him anywhere else.
In chapter 16 Melady lets her guard down to try and convince the man she loves to join her. Galle responds by taking advantage of her vulnerability and attacking her. Then she watches as he mortally wounds the man who jumped between them to save her from him, and then runs off to raise the alarm.
By chapter 21 she has nothing but contempt for him. She was never going to pull a Shiharam.
Quick question for the Secae Illia route units. I thought it was Peggy/Sigune for Illia and Kabul/Monke for Secae? Someone in my comments is asking about it and I wasn’t sure
Fixed Juno’s AI never attacking unless she’s surrounded.
Her AI was not properly set all this time. Somehow this was never reported. Everyone who ever played Ilia killed Juno before she could move next to a unit and proceed to do absolutely nothing.
Didn’t exactly have a lot of options haha. The only other Sacaen I could’ve used there is Fir, and she would’ve made very little sense on top of being a swordmaster boss. Nobody likes swordmaster bosses on seize points.
Found a bug: In the trade menu of battle prep, if you select a character and enter the menu (I would upload an image but my account is new so it’s restricted; it’s the left menu with ‘Trade’, ‘Discard’, etc) then press R to display help, and scroll down to ‘Item List’, the game will crash. If you can’t reproduce it I can send a save state.
Really enjoying the hack so far, cheers!
