Fire Emblem: Dark Lord and The Maiden of Light

So does this mean I can change the color of Hair, Outfit, Weapon and Skin Colors?

other romhacks have already done so.

I’m currently in chapter 10 and as far as i can say i really like this hack, it isn’t like super difficult but it’s fun, i like the characters, they all have an actual personality, like Eli going nuts when he’s stressed though i’d love if he can be a little bit more useful, his bases aren’t that great and his growths are not bad but it doesn’t compensate too much bc he’s no going to gain that much lvl ups for only being able to shot a enemy per turn, the others archer outclassed him too much sherie is a higher lvl and with higher we bow rank, Wren had better stats even if you train him and she can do 1 range combat, and luca is a nomad with better bases, i would like to see him receiving a buff , like higher bases or a mechanic related with his stress problems? even a prf idk. other character that i really like is Francine she’s just so damn good, all enemies do like 0-5 dmg to her with shaky hit rates, she’s ā€œbalancedā€ by the fact of her base speed being so low and her growth being so high, so she’s kinda of a training project? idk, but i really like that like she is bad doubling at base but if you use her she’ll gain speed to double,so far my favorite unit in the game and also still being my best unit right now.

I kinda feel like the 15x requirement could have been better telegraphed. Like, theres a similar requirement to recruit someone in 6x that’s very well telegraphed with Orion specifically saying he wants to talk to that person.

The tactician saying they want to handle the boss personally would have been enough imo.

Fun story but I read the instruction and assumed the tactician had to talk to him during Chapter 15A.

When the boss comes in with his wife in super sayan mode and kill anyone at range with bolting. I still managed to make fight with the tactician using the priest and a pure water to tank 4 bolting and let the tactician tank the last one. Was silly and useless but pretty fun and badass.

Just finished this and I gotta say, it was great. I appreciate that it doesn’t have a bunch of skills and whatnot, it’s just a (relatively) simple straightforward game with great maps. I’m not good at writing reviews so I’ll just talk about some things that stick out in my brain now.

I’m not sure if you’re the first person to make light magic specifically effective against monsters, rather than just having bishops always have it, but it was a brilliant idea. I love that mid tier light spells don’t work well on promoted monsters. This is the first game where I’ve actually been sad my sages didn’t get light magic on promo. I wish more games did this, I was watching a video about the history of light magic in the series and how it didn’t have a concrete identity and I think this is what it should be.

I love the way you used monster units, you introduced the draco zombies perfectly, and they were literally always a threat requiring respect.

The real bosses always seemed a touch too tough when I was playing, but maybe I just got very unlucky? Killing the wielder of the patastra was kind of a crapshoot (even with the poleaxe), and against the 23-3 boss almost no one could both survive a hit AND deal good damage to him with the legendary weapons. I actually only won because I had a speedwings in the convoy I could feed to my tactician so they could stop getting doubled and chip away with Dunblaaze (badass name by the way).

It was a similar story with the actual last boss as well. Only the tactician, the gotoh, and the Est had a combination of damage+survivability against him. Looking at all these other people’s late game parties I’m wondering if I was supposed to train units to 20/20 or something.

I’m not complaining they’re too hard or anything, I’m just bemoaning my own bad luck/leveling choices.

I love Eli, you made a Bow version of Rutger and that’s the coolest thing I’ve seen in awhile.

I liked the way you handled player owned siege tomes, getting the extra copy of bolting and purge was difficult but very rewarding. Same with the berserk staff.

I do wish Chandra had joined with her boss inventory, I actually thought her eclipse tome was meant to be a form of time pressure, I thought if you beat her fast enough you’d get the used tome when she joined. Not complaining ofc, it would be too early to get a Nosferatu tome, but it does feel like a missed opportunity to me.

I saw further up you might do a sequel one day, and I gotta say I’m excited. I really hope it gets made, the epilogue sets up many plot threads I’d love to follow, though I am also worried about the characters I love getting brutally murdered in the sequel.

Either way though, great game! Thank you for making it!

Edit: I just remembered the boulder tossing cyclopes. Pure genius. Genuinely incredible idea, I wish more people used it.

I am playing the sister hack, Order of the Crimson Arm, and the prep menu is fire!
Can someone make a patch with it for DLatMoL?
That would be so cool.
Wanna play them both with that prep menu theme.

I’m on chapter 7 right now and wondering whether this hack gets harder. So far I’m charging through every map with my units going at almost max movement every turn and not having much trouble. Blair hasn’t seen a lot of action (despite his tankiness) since he literally can’t catch up with the rest of the squad.

it get harder, at which point it does depends of your skills but the lategame is quite a challenge

Its been ages so I can’t say for sure, but…
Yeah, the game gets headache-inducingly hard.

Pray for speed levels for your tactician, and spend your gold carefully. Also manage those lockpicks carefully- I think it was adjusted after I finished, but you really do need to use them sparingly.

Door and Chest keys should always be used first.

Game has gotten hard since like chapter 10.
Very fun.
Freesia is broken af. Almost certain she will cap speed before level 10.

Here, have a guide to this hack. If you happen to have read the Sword of Heaven and Earth one I did a while back, it’s formatted in almost the same way. If you also happen to have read hushed whispers about the lategame or the availability of lockpicks earlier in this very thread, this will cover those issues and a few others in a way that ought to save you a headache later.

I have to admit it’s not completely finished—a few of the later chapters don’t have fully-annotated maps or reinforcement lists—but for most people’s purposes it should hopefully prove helpful, and I’ve procrastinated long enough on it as it is. it’s basically done now

Oh! I just got here in FEU recently, and this is one of the hacks that I mentioned playing before in my introduction post lol. At the time I loved the fact that you could create a MC tactician that was an actual part of the story, but I never managed to complete it back then.

Now that I know more of FE I’ll try to give it another shot, with the help of RocketSurgery’s guide (thanks a lot btw!), but regardless thanks a lot for the work TytheBub.

Hey, it’s been a while since I last commented on the idea of a sequel. But since someone asked again.

Post from above about two years ago

I’ve done quite a bit more since then. I couldn’t even tell you how much. I still don’t want to promise anything because that’s just how I am. I won’t feel confident about actually finishing what I’m doing until I’m like 80% done. …And by that point, I’d become really silent about things anyway because like DLATMOL 1, I’d rather it be a surprise when I deliver. But I can confirm what I am working is currently around a little below the half-way point of being completed. It’s subject to change but I’m currently gunning for around 29-30 chapters for this next project. And I am just now getting on chapter 14. There is of course a couple of other things I need to do not tied to the chapters. But overall progress has become pretty smooth. I had a really tough time adjusting from 7 and 8. But this year in particular, the gears finally started to really click for me.

So long story short, there is no part 2 or sequel. As of now. But there is one being worked on. But again, I don’t really want to promise anything yet. Even though signs are finally pointing to possibility it’ll get done instead of not.

Finally finished this!
I really enjoyed this hack, it was engaging with wonderful characters and a solid story. The difficulty was just enough for someone like me who doesn’t like hacks that are overly difficult. The supports were awesome and the narrative was intense. My qualm really comes towards the end. It just felt like the gift I wanted to stop giving after awhile. Everytime I’m like okay this is the end it’s more to come. Then the finale itself just had ticks i personally don’t care for. Overpowered bosses through out plus gimmicks for each one. I would rather have a solid OP final boss but not every boss leading up to it OP then add the gimmicks on top of that, plus ambush spawns, PLUS endless reinforcements and it goes from fun and engaging to just long and tedious. By the end I felt more like I was just trying to see it through just to have it be over instead of feeling bittersweet that it was over. Lastly, idk if I missed it or it wasn’t there but a more clear ā€œthis is your last time to shopā€ would be appreciated even though it’s not like we get much gold to use anyway but I ended up going into the finale severely ill prepared and literally fighting with iron weapons, an assassin with no lockpicks, the enemies drop nothing and no menu armory.

All and all solid hack that I would recommend 7/10.
