[FE7] Fire Emblem - Sword of Heaven and Earth [Translation Complete v1.2]

I found this in a wiki:

Spoiler

Being that Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade was never localized, the ability to transfer save data from that game into Fire Emblem was removed. The bonuses given by the data transfer were changed as a result:

  • Transferring data from The Binding Blade allows the player to skip Lyn’s tale on their first playthrough of the game and start from Eliwood’s tale instead. This feature was cut entirely in localization.
  • Two extended epilogue scenes were originally unlocked by either linking with The Binding Blade, or by clearing Fire Emblem a certain number of times.
    • A cleared Binding Blade save file which achieved the bad ending (where the game ended at Chapter 22) unlocks the first scene with Eliwood, Hector, Roy, and Lilina. This ending can alternatively be obtained by clearing the game nine times.
    • A cleared Binding Blade save file which achieved either of the good endings (where the game ended at the Final Chapter) unlocks the second scene, where Zephiel is confronted by Jahn about awakening the demon dragon. This ending can alternatively be obtained by clearing the game eleven times.

Both scenes are in the epilogue by default in the US version and do not require unlocking

Interesting.

Hey people, I hope you are feeling great! I’m here to leave you the v1.2 patch which you could say is the semi-definitive one until something unforeseen comes up.

I’ll leave below the small changes I made and one of them I’m sure you’ll love!

Version 1.2
  • Translated saya’s death text (the text was not in the FEbuilder death section so I had to look for it separately).

  • Translated the missing text when leveling up after completing a fight with the animation activated when using a staff user (who knows why they would use 2 separate panels instead of 1 universal one).

  • Minor missing text, translated.

New added!

After searching around I found a patch for the Japanese game, so now you can see the total range of the enemy!

Use Select and them A to toggle between attack range and staff range.

Range

The only bad thing is that from what I’ve been testing it doesn’t work in the savegames you are currently playing, since it only shows you the level map but not the enemy’s range (I have no idea how to fix it).

Apparently it only works with new games starting from scratch, but you can try it and see if it works for you!

Bugs

Because the game has a patch for the characters to blink in the parameters section, there is a portrait of a certain character that bugs a little after a few seconds (you will realize who it is) I see no way to fix it, I discovered that it has something to do with the patch that I applied and if I remove it, it just turns everything upside down, so I better leave it like that. It is noticeable yes, but it is not as if the portrait ceases to exist.

Having said all this I hope you enjoy the patch and I expect no more surprises out there, I assume or I believe that people have not had any problems since no one has reported anything unusual apart from what I said, which I am very happy about.

Anything else please report it here!

Happy day or night!

It seems viewing the R button description of the Joro Katti makes the game crash :frowning:

Can you send me the save file by personal message?

I remember having a similar type of problem, and I thought I solved it. :upside_down_face:

How does Saya promote?

Automatically after you beat chapter 19.

Thank you, and is Tsas recruitable?

Leave her alive every chapter she appears in, she has no talk convos.

(Whoops, sorry, got the wrong chapter number, it’s fixed now.)

When she actually joins

She’ll join at the end of Chapter 24, but she’ll probably be at the bottom of your prep screen so you’ll need to find her.

Just thought I’d share this thing I just did, because I am extremely proud that I managed it. Excuse the emulator filter, I’m one of those sinners who likes sprucing up the graphics on these old games.

I had no idea those two had a battle convo. That’s such an awesome easter egg.

Anyway, while I’m here, I’d just like to thank you for this awesome translation, Nasaelo! For somebody whose main language is not English, you did a fantastic job. The wording is a bit wonky at times, but regardless, the dialogue is perfectly understandable 99.99% of the time. Good work!

Just one tidbit: The class descriptions for the curate and halberdier classes are untranslated.

Nothing more for now. Thanks once again for taking the effort to translate this wonderful hack!

aww I didn’t get the first reply, sad.
Ahem… anyways congratulations for your release of the translation! Very epic that you not only change the dialogue but also add the little details like the title screen, UI, and other images that might prove hard for a translator like me, haha. Although sadly I can play no more but still, congrats on the release!

I’m glad you liked it! I’m curious, what version are you playing?

Spoiler?

Normally he should leave at the beginning of turn 10 (that was the bug that was supposedly fixed in version 1.1).

Another funny thing is that his retreat dialog after you defeated him didn’t appear either… the game events and other texts are scattered all over the place haha :upside_down_face:

Oh, and thanks for letting me know about that, normally the Febuilder translates those by default, but apparently it skipped some, I’ll have to fix that.

I’m planning on giving it a revision in the future to correct what you mentioned as much as possible, although I’ll have to improve my reading comprehension even more.

Have a nice day and thanks for playing!

I’m on 1.2. The “see enemy range” feature is available, so it has to be 1.2. Something must’ve gone wrong with the fix. I still have a save state in chapter 17, if you need one.

I’ll look forward to that! No rush, though, take your time.

EDIT: I’d also like to report that I’ve experienced the glitch where the game freezes when checking unit descriptions. It wasn’t just at the start of the chapter, either - I’m halfway through chapter 20 and it just happened. Thankfully, to avoid a softlock is as easy as rewinding a bit.

EDIT 2: I believe I may’ve found a consistent cause for the freezes. It’s Saya’s character description past chapter 19. Everything else works fine, but the moment I try to open that, the game flips out. If I open Saya’s statsheet, then press up or down to move to another character and open their description, it freezes too. Perhaps it’s supposed to change after she promotes, but the event is glitched?

EDIT 3: Apologies for the many edits, haha. Eventually the glitch sorted itself out, and I was able to look at Saya’s description without issue. The next chapter, I was unable to reproduce the bug. I’ll be sure to let you know if I run into it again, but for now, it seems like it’s over.

Hello again and sorry for the late reply!

Event bug

Maybe it is very likely that the structure of the event is poorly done because even in the original it does not even appear, although I do not know much about events I would have to check thoroughly to see what is what xD

Honestly I do not understand what happens, the event when I tested it worked fine (well what I did was to delete and paste the same structure and was fixed or so I thought…)

Freeze bug

About the freezing, another person who commented above had the same problem although we talked about it by personal message. In the end I found out that it’s probably the item they give you after the promotion that corrupts some parts of the rom, but where it’s most noticeable is in the preparation screen, if you try to see the description of some specific people, it also freezes.

If you start the battle, and it freezes after you read a description, what you should do is restart the game and then hit continue (not restart the chapter) and that supposedly fixes it.

Already with you are 2 people and this confirms that it seems to be something of the rom and not an isolated case as I expected it to be, I do not know if something like that has a solution since I have no idea what causes it as such.

Luckily it is not a bug that is critical, but it can be tedious.

Edit: Maybe what I need is confirmation if the freeze can happen after chapter 20, this kind of bug you never know when they can attack

Greetings and I hope you have no more problems ahead, let me know if anything else happens! :+1:

Any chance for Recruitment, Gaiden and Growth stats info for this hack?

I am curious about the info for Sword of Heaven and Earth. Don’t want to go into it full blind mode.

@JrpgAddict @Silver-Star

Take a look at this. It’s a Japanese blog that contains a few handy guides for this game. Google Translate is what it is, but I feel like it should be fairly easy to understand.

The “strategy” section contains recruitments and other events per chapter. “Secret store” contains the locations of secret stores. The rest are character guides. “Column Can you use the senior characters of Heaven and Earth Sword?” is pretty funny, the blogger discusses the viability of the game’s prepromotes following some very 2000s logic, and then he just gives up all pretense and flexes his OP Lydia.

The only thing left would be gaiden requirements, but… honestly, I’m not sure if there are any. I have gotten all the gaidens in all of my runs, even in my first blind run of the original Japanese version, years ago. I think they’re just unlocked automatically.

(Incidentally, I managed to recruit everyone in my first run, and again, I was going in blind and without being able to understand the dialogue. Don’t fret too much, this game’s recruitments are fairly simple.)

@Nasaelo

I’ve made it to chapter 23. Haven’t seen the glitch again since chapter 20. However, I have something different to report: In chapter 22, when an enemy makes it to the bottom of the map, Arel and Saya have some dialogue. When a second enemy reaches that point, they have some more dialogue, and then it’s game over time. Both of these scenes are untranslated.

These are snippets from both, to make it easier for you to find them.

That is all for now. Hopefully, I will have nothing more to report before I get to the end.

Gaidens are automatic in my experience.

Recruitment and growths:

Edit: Comment above is good too

Is there any way to train up Arel? He doesn’t get any level ups like what happens with your transport in FE 7, and I don’t think I’ve seen him getting exp after getting hit by a bow user once.

Also, I didn’t think Rabi had that high growths. I must’ve gotten very rng screwed with him in my runs.

Edit: Also, are those growths from Faina really accurate? It felt like she had as much str growth as Vince.

@SaintRubenio

Thanks for the report and I’m glad you didn’t get the bug anymore! By any chance do you still have the save file of that chapter? you can send it to me by personal message. :+1:

Gaiden chapters are activated automatically.

All the Growths in that document are correct. (And thank you for making the document! @MageHero21)

@marks3684

Arel starts gaining experience starting from chapter 16 if I’m not mistaken. He will let you know about it.
