Where is the place to discuss collaboration?

Where is the place to discuss collaboration? I would enjoy working on an in-progress project, but I’ve also got some original ideas of my own. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to use FEbuilder.

I’m a writer, and I’m especially interested in worldbuilding, lore, item and ability descriptions, and systems design.

Most devs with experience working on a project probably won’t be looking for “team members” in general, let alone someone inexperienced in Builder with nothing to show as a portfolio romhack wise.
You’re better off actually putting in the effort of trying to learn FEbuilder if you want to work on a hack. You won’t make something good immediately, but that’s how it is with any art form.

Sorry if this isn’t the answer you’re looking for.
If you do want to hunker down and learn how to interface with builder the process I’ve seen that works well is to learn through playing around with an FE8 rom and asking in the Discord or here on the forums when you hit a wall you can’t find a way to get around.

It’s a lot of work, as is any creative endeavor. But it is rewarding.

febuilder is easy-ish to learn, it’s like RPG maker if you dont want to do complicated stuff. You can start your own team and ask people for help on discord

FEBuilder really isn’t super well situated for group projects.
A buildfiles project file would work much better to that end, but users who use buildfiles tend to already have the level of experience to where they want to make most of the game themselves.

I have heard of group projects every now and then, but mostly seems to be groups of friends and they’re not super active on the forum afaik

You’d be better off showing a portfolio. If you don’t have one, you’re a rando with no clout, and people are unlikely to seek you out – sorry if that’s brutally honest, but that’s the way it is, both in official video games and fangroups now.

You may be able to do what I did: insert yourself into a discord server, dump a ton of grammar/spelling/historical accuracy notes in one go and hope that gets you on the team/hired as an editor (to be honest, I’ve done that for both ROMhacks and actual original games). But I got lucky several times. It’s not always that easy.

Alternatively, FEBuilder is not hard to learn, has several tutorials around the internet, and even the most basic hack could show prospective others both your willingness to commit to a task and serve as a good vehicle for your ideas.
