Friends, people who think about the Holy Roman Empire a lot, serving countrymen, lend me your ears.
It’s time for a New Year’s resolution contest!
The rules are simple: Sometime during the month of January (before UTC-12 final time zone blah blah blah), you must post somewhere on this thread with a hack-based resolution that you intend to fulfill this year. This should be something you intend to finish this year. It can be something you’re already working on. Then, during any of the other months of the year, when you complete your resolution, report back on the thread, and that hack or fangame or what have you will become your contest entry. I will play a maximum of five chapters per entry, but anything can be considered an entry.
Each person can only make one resolution, but a person can appear on the team of multiple resolutions (but only the resolver will be scored). You can make resolutions towards projects that you are not the main developer in; in this event, the project will be scored relative to your contributions instead of the whole project. Projects completed during January are ineligible. Team projects where you completed your share but the project itself is not complete are ineligible. Resolutions made after January are ineligible. Resolutions in excess of the first resolution made in a post are ineligible. Finally, there will be a static rubric as with Super Hit Post, but it will only be posted after January.
Of course, I resolve to finish recording Super Hit Post submissions before this contest elapses…
I resolve to perhaps learn how to splice portraits and make palettes better because I mostly rely on other people to do it for me, and I would like to get better at it myself.
I will make three consecutive playable chapters for my side project NijiENblem. (I would like to do a five chapter demo like I promised on Twitter, but with my main project taking my focus, I’m trying to be realistic with my resolution here)
hmmm i don’t know if i would have something to playtest (I could take an IOU or something :P) but I resolve to finish the first draft of my characters portraits and the first draft of my script done by the end of the year
you could call it undershooting but I have no idea what I’m doing and I could burn out of either at any point so I think it’s pretty fair
now that my adhd is medicated i’m gonna shoot for completing the first 3 months/dungeons in my secret persona inspired lt game rn i have most of the eventing for the game’s custom systems done and i’m like 25% through the first dungeon so i should be able to crank out a public demo by the end of the year and a barebones playtesting demo even sooner.
This year I resolve to finish the first five chapters of my hack: The Sword and the Stone. That’s half of Act 1, which should put me on track to have the rest of the first act done and released around summer of the following year. Hopefully that’s a low ball and I get more done than I expected, but I guess we’ll see
This year I will work on making new music, hopefully learning along the way how to transition from the songs I normally make to more traditional FE songs.
A close second would be to convince people who have not added supports to their project yet to ditch the vanilla support implementation entirely and repurpose every unit’s support slots as counters to track specific things instead
