The Repo discord is now banned from FEU

tl;dr: Effective immediately, the asset repository discord server is not welcome on FEU, and links to it will be removed from both the website and the FEU discord when found.

This is a matter of sitewide policy regarding an external community that we explicitly condemn and disavow any affiliation with, and is not up for discussion or public comment. Signal-boosting your community by maintaining a link to it on FEU is a privilege, not a right.

Questions about the policy itself can be directed to staff DMs.

Why?

We (the owners and operators of Fire Emblem Universe) have decided that we are no longer comfortable with the tacit endorsement of the repository server by allowing it to be advertised on our site. The server is a breeding ground for conspiracy theories, general community rabble-rousing and overt racism (see this post for receipts) and we will no longer stand for it.

It is an open secret that the asset repository server doubles as a de facto community server for Klokinator and his friends. For those unaware, Klokinator was banned for being a habitual community shit-stirrer. I know that he would likely disagree with this characterization of events, and you’re welcome to ask him for his side if you want to hear it.

What does this mean for the repository itself?

For the time being, as far as FEU is concerned, nothing has changed with regards to the actual asset repository, only its attached discord server. We may revisit this stance in the future.

Is it against the rules to be a member of the repository server?

No. If, after reading this thread, you decide that remaining in that community is something that you want, that’s your decision.

Many of these images are large compilations; if you’re having trouble reading them, please right click → open image in new tab and you’ll be able to see them at full resolution.

Exhibit A: Dinar

This user was banned from FEU for the obvious reasons. The fact that this user is allowed to behave like this with seemingly no repercussions (keep this username in mind when looking through the rest of this post) would already be enough for me.

Exhibit B: The Donlot episode

This one requires a little more context. Roughly one week prior to the time of this post going live, the user donlot was banned from FEU after we were made aware of the following display, which got them banned from the Anna’s Secret Shop server:

The display

Of course, these screenshots are several years old, and the user in question has been quite well-behaved on FEU, so we gave them a good-faith chance to explain themselves. Before I get into that, however, let’s see how repocord feels about this:

It is worth noting that the first few images of this compilation were from before the ban was decided on. The reaction to discovering that we contacted someone asking them to defend themselves over some racist memes they posted was to immediately jump to attacking us over it.

Normally, we try to keep the details of private conversations we have with users between us and those users. In this case, though, there is a screenshot of the staff DM with Donlot already present, so this conversation seems to already be out there. Here’s the conversation in full:

Donlot ban convo

We gave Donlot three separate chances to apologize and disavow what was posted, and I would have let it go if he had. Instead, it becomes a reverse accusation that this is part of some anti-Mangs purge and, quote, “I don’t really see how jokes made 3 years ago in some discord server are gonna be harmful to anyone but maybe the person who saw them and disliked them in that very moment.”

The fact that this courtesy was given at all was because I do agree that everyone says stupid shit when they’re young and that people deserve to not have that held against them when it inevitably resurfaces far later. However, part of that redemption entails accepting that you did, in fact, do something wrong in the first place, something that I am very pointedly not seeing here.

Since it’s come up in a few different places: Yes, we are aware that the repo itself links to the discord. Yes, we will be keeping an eye on the repo itself, as it is not under our control or affiliated with us.
