I would Never willingly field 20% or less of my army as mages. 40% minimum, more likely 60% or even 100% if I’m really excited for magic that day. If only 20% of my army is mages, I have not been given enough mages, and am mad about it.
Mages should be more common, and that’s really all there is to say on the matter.
That was the plan for ‘The Visage’ faction, being one of the main big bad cult people, as one may be able to tell from their class tree
It is intentional, its the same class, just used twice
I will consider these, the hope was to figure out a name more interesting then just “X Mage”
I shall fix…
current plan is how 80% of the cast is going to begin as 4 mov trainees, then T1 goes to 5 Mov, then T2 goes to 6 Mov, so to start out maps will be a bit on the small side, but as everyone promotes and you get more units the maps will grow bigger and more complicated, But I could make some classes have more mov then usual at the cost of something else to balance it out
And I see I missed an entire argument about the anima split… I did plan for the magic types to cover different stuff/have their unique attributes, following the examples i saw in “berwick saga”
Fire - High might, but not much else
Wind - Almost always brave, hitting 2x, 3x, sometimes 4x
Thunder - Higher range and crit compared to the others
I really love that work. The amount of factions, branching paths, and unique classes packed in here is insane, I could genuinely sink hours into just mapping out every promotion line before even touching the gameplay. The fact that even enemy-only factions like Wildlife and The Visage get full class trees instead of just being reskins is such a nice touch.
A couple thoughts though:
Please tell me mounted classes are on the roadmap at some point or perhaps in another project? Right now it feels like a noticeable gap in an otherwise stacked chart.
Not gonna lie, “Bladesman” feels like a bit of a downgrade from “Mercenary” as a class name lol. Mercenary just has more weight to it. Skirmisher is fine, though
Also Devil Lancer might be my favorite class name/design on this whole chart. It looks edgy but not in a corny way, super into it.
Anyway, seriously impressive work, can’t wait to see where this goes.
yeah, originally i called it ‘bladesman’ because they got access to the ‘blade’ weapon type, which is distinct from swords akin to how berwick saga does it, but it would force me to make an alt class for the female version with ‘bladelass’, so ive decided to revert back to just mercenary
and yeah, current wall im facing is I need to make a bunch of portraits before continuing to work on gameplay, but my motivation is lacking
and some of the enemy classes will be accessable playerside, some but not all of them
oh, as for mounted units, I dont intend to include any playerside, as I find mounted/flying units annoying to balance, there will be lore reasons for a distinct lack of horses/pegasai/wyverns, that and… this chart is already huge enough, adding mounted trees will just double it
Sounds good! I thought at first that blades were the same as swords, just like Vanilla. Pretty cool to do this, in order to make mercenaries more than just “Myrms with more def/con but less speed”! It gives her distinct personnality, I like it.
Fair for the mounted classes! tbh, with how huge the chart is, I wouldn’t mind even more clatter lol
Anyway, can’t wait to play it! Good luck on the portraits, hope you’ll keep going!
mabye if FE:FR ever gets finished, I can expand the class chart even more for the next title/itteration so its comparable to the hell that is dies emblem
