Is there any way to let enemy HP bars get above 100 in FE8 without making it disappear from the screen? I’m making a hack where enemy Manaketes feature prominently in the later sections, and I want them to have a lot of health on hard mode. I’m using FEBuilder, and there doesn’t seem to be a patch available for this.
I’m not sure if Zane’s Gorgon EGG offers this feature, GORGON-EGG
But if not, this is what I would do, it involves custom code and a fair bit of trial and error. You’ll need to make the mimug box longer as well (which I haven’t figured out how to do using the decomp method below).
First you’ll want to read through Vesly’s C setup for dummies C Setup for Dummies
-
UnitMapUiUpdate
This handles the display of the HP in the minimug box -
DrawUnitMapUi
Handles (among other things) the placement of various Minimug Box things such as the HP values, the slash, the minimug, unit name etc. -
DisplayLeftPanel
Handles everything related to the left side of the unit’s stat screen (where their portrait sits) including the HP display.
In addition you’ll probably want to take a look at these:
-
DrawBattleForecastContentsStandard
This handles the HP display in the normal forecast menu -
DrawBattleForecastContentsExtended
This handles the HP display in the extended forecast menu
Thank you very much for the swift reply, but that’s all way beyond my technical skill level at the moment. I’ve decided to just make them more durable by giving them higher def/res. I was simply wondering if there was a quick fix out there I could use first.
