Yes. You can choose between the 4 main characters

I’m cautiously optimistic, but a little underwhelmed by what I see. Like Celestia said, it just looks like more of the same. Don’t get me wrong, Three Houses was a good game, but it was also a very flawed game with significantly less focus on engaging gameplay and much more on social sim / out-of-combat elements. That is not, and will never be, my cup of tea – if I wanted that, I would just go play Persona.

I won’t get to play it, but it looks quite neat. Still no clue if it’s a prequel or sequel though, it’s strange how they keep withholding that.

I’ll mention that the eshop page mentions that “These four heroes are key to this time-traveling saga of strength and steel”.

I’m really pumped to play it! The designs look awesome. I’m really intrigued by the world and lore, especially adult Sothis. It looks like there’s some overworld exploration too with Leda popping open a chest so I’m excited to see how that’s implemented. I really enjoyed 3H and it’s art style so FW look like it’s right up my alley. Also no avatar yet which would be great, but I’m not holding my breath yet.

Disappointed by the return of class change, it’s so unnecessary.

Also, a tad concerned by these “powers” the four main characters get. From what they showed in the trailer it kind of looked similar to the effects of Emblem Rings. Hopefully it’s more akin to weapon arts but considering the impact, I’m still a bit worried.

Im guessing the two white characters in the middle of the box art are avatars

As for who I’ll tag along with first, probably undecided until I see all the faction characters like in 3 Houses. I was a Golden Deer first run for Marianne :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder what aesthetics they are going in Dagda

Also anyone wondering how would Fortune’s Weave character pairings/ships are like if they are Fire Emblem kingdoms/empires/republics?

Call me FE6 hit rates because I missed that. XD

Also, it’s nice to meet a fellow GD enjoyer.

So true Garytop

If I ever bring myself to play FW I’d go for whichever path has Ninae (Green haired girl in mainpost)

if this game has anything nearly as interesting as Engage Attacks in it, then it will be a massively more enjoyable sandbox than 3H.

Overall looks like this improves on a lot of what was clunky and obnoxious about 3H. Replacing the monastery with the SoV style open world map has a lot more potential for interesting content between maps, and it looks like they might be trying to do something a little less straight-forward with the avatar character this time, given that it currently looks like you may not even have them in the party during the early game.

I’m also optimistic, with how long this game’s been in the tank, that there won’t so many obvious rush-jobs the way 3H had. Praying that there’s no common route at the start of the game and that it diverges immediately, but I expect to be disappointed on that front.

Strange as it may sound, I think trying to take pages from SoV’s book is a good idea here. Map design is clearly not the Koei Tecmo team’s strong suit, but focusing in on making the gameplay sandbox engaging to use can make up for some pretty so-so maps. The, I forget what it’s called, curse meter? looks like it could be interesting, and I hope the curse arts that non-lords get are high impact and varied. If they end up largely being Tempest Lance++, I’ll be pretty sad.

Biggest disappointment is that it’s a route split game instead of a Radiant Dawn style multi-army story, but whatever.

Lastly, I’m enjoying the character designs a lot so far. A lot of diversity on display, which is rare for FE.

I think it’s very obviously a sequel, between the calendar date, the Aubin crest, and Sothis being older.

I like Theodora’s design. I’ll probably pick her path first.

I wonder if they’ll overtly connect Fortune’s Weave to 3H. There seem to be shared elements. Sothis seems to be here, although she dies in 3H, so I assume this will be a prequel then.

Strange to see the chatheads move so much at times. The bone(spine?)-animation looks very off-putting.

I’m very excited. The previous FE games have been bangers, so I know what to expect.

It probably is, but until we get any sort of confirmation they could always pull a fast one on us, I guess. The calendar especially, since this isn’t set in Fodlan.

If it’s a sequel then I wonder how they’ll handle Fodlan, since though all paths end in Fodlan being united the nature of that unification is very different from path to path, and it wouldn’t really make sense for a game that tries to build off 3H’s popularity to ignore 3H’s setting. They could always be very vague about it (“united Fodlan…”) but that’s lame, smh.

One thing that’s curious to me is that the box art almost seems like it tries to depict two opposing sides. Cai and Leda on one side and Dietrich and Theodora on the other. The avatars stand in the middle between those two sides. (also, the hair colors for the two “opposing sides” match) Wonder if I’m reading too much into it or if there’s something there.

I’m not a 3h fan so take this with a grain of salt but uhhhhhhh

It’s lookin’ bleak, chief. Sadly, Engage is probably just a one off banger at this point.

The fact, that ONLY the four main lords can use blaze meter is so lame

So the continent is Dagdar from Thracia, huh.

I haven’t really seen much gameplay, so it’s really hard to judge how this game is gonna turn out. If it’s just 3H gameplay all over again, I’m probably gonna end up dropping this game just like I did FE16. It’s my least favorite game in the series, and it’s the only game I have yet to complete.

It sucks that this is a sequel to FE16 because I’m gonna have to play that before I even consider getting Fortune’s Weave (not even considering the $500+ I’m gonna have to pay to buy a switch 2). It seems to be set hundreds of years after, though, so maybe I could play this game just fine without knowing the story of 3H.

I just wish I could play 3H like a normal FE game. I despised the recruitment system in particular.

None of the character designs stood out that much to me tbh. Maybe I just don’t like the Fodlan art style.

Still disappointed to return to fodlan after how refreshing Engage was but I’m cautiously optimistic. Looks like they are trying all the 3H stuff again so hopefully the devs apply what they learned in the years since then. Engage does have a lot for 3H to learn from, both in gameplay and story.
