Hello everyone, i am here to announce the Demo release of a Romhack my friends and I have been working on for the past year! The game currently goes up to Chapter 5, after which nothing has been modified as of yet. The base game is Fe8, and we have created custom portraits for most of the playable cast(made from bases of original portraits), with only the final character in the demo still needing a portrait. All of the main characters have custom animations and classes as well.
The end goal of this hack is to create a fun, engaging game with a unique story, and cast of characters.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback or changes you guys think is needed. Specifically around map design( which i am not good at) and unit balancing.
I’ve played this to the end of chapter 2 so far. The grammar needs a second look over, missing letters or incorrectly written words are really frequent in the first two chapters, less so in ch2 but they still appear.
I’m not sure why ch2 is a survive map when there isn’t really any pressure on you to survive and you could end the chapter by killing the boss on turn 2 if you wanted? I camped Owen near the boss and simply waited for my other units to grind on weak enemy units before killing the boss to end the chapter. I also think chapters 1 and 2 really need more enemy variety. Aside for the bosses, and a single archer in ch2, it is all bandit axe users who easily die to the lord or myrm and aren’t much of a threat to fight. Some archers, soldiers, etc. couldn’t go amiss.
I’ll play to chapter 5 though and see how the other chapters pan out as well.
Thanks for that! I haven’t gone back and fixed grammar yet because we were focused on finishing a base game, but I guess I shoulda done that before releasing a demo huh? I do also see what you mean with enemy variety. I’ll work on that for the next version
It’s a solid start to a hack but nothing to write home about when compared to other demos. The in-battle character sprites are the highlight with Zeke and the Eli being the two standouts. The maps need a lot of work through. They felt very generic like if you went into FE builder and slapped a stage together as quick as possible without giving too much thought to troop placement or terrain layout. I would highly suggest doing a lot of research into making better maps and use resources like this board and Youtube guides on FE maps both from the official games and other hacks to level up your map making. The story reads like something from a memehack, whether or not that was your intention I couldn’t say. The dialogue needs a pass through from a proofreader since there were tons of spelling and grammar mistakes. Also, one of your abilities, Heavy Blade, gives +4 atk and -2 atk spd if they have more Con then the opponent. Not sure if the -2 was intentional because if it is that is way too much of a drawback for +4. atk

For the writing style, yea its kinda meant to be a memehack, but with some actual story elements.
all the typos are my fault and i have been going over them to fix as many as possible before i release the next patch. For the maps and units; Yea, im a novice at it. I plan on going back through chapters 1-3 and revamping the maps and changing unit placement before the next patch
In regards to heavy blade, i doubt that was intentional. most likely gonna get removed
