It was a said a bit above here; the split promotion trees are gone; but the classes are in still in the game; so you can add them back in via FEBuilder.
Hi! There’s a few things that differ from vanilla FE6:
- Stats are coloured on the stat screen (aesthetic)
- Staves give more than 1 WEXP
- The weapon triangle modifies hit by 15, not by 10 as in FE6
- Enemies in chapters 1 through 5 are missing their doubled hard mode bonuses (this was originally a bug, and adding it back gives Rutger more stats, but it’s an enormous part of how the early game plays)
These are simple fixes though, and I’ll be making them in a hack based on this. Thank you for providing it!
There’s also missing supports in this port.
Roy in this version.
Roy in the vanilla game.
Lilina in this version.
Lilina in the vanilla game.
Maybe this patch can help to reach the limit of 10 supporting characters.
Otherwise, it would have to be said that Roy/Marcus, Roy/Alen, Roy/Lance, Lilina/Garret, Lilina/Marcus and Lilina/Ogier no longer exist.
are we allowed to play gaiden chapter without requirements
This is a known issue, and not something I’m sure if there are any plans to do anything about.
Maybe it’s posible with the patch I have mentioned before.
You also have this thread that may help : More than 7 support partners in FE8? - #5 by Sme
I should probably clarify that I’m not involved with the technical production of the Binding Blade port or the upcoming Binding Blade Re-Remake. I’m just a member of the discord for the Binding Blade Remake, and this has been a topic on there before.
So Coool! i knew it , i mean its been years, like saying oh i knew that tree would grow, but i was just looking at fe6 was like, ok they did fe9/10 in fe8 and a lot more, i’ll bet … Thank You So Much! feel like a kid again - and im porting em all to my Nintendo 3DS - FE9/10 and binding blade on my handheld is wild to me, like all the magic gone in the world? NAY! its right here!
The issue of missing support partners is unfortunately a limitation of the FE8 ROM itself, which only allows up to 7 support partners per character, and the aforementioned patch only increases the number of supports conversations you can have for a character (which is 5). There is a patch that I consider better than this, which instead of just 5 conversations per character, gives you 5 characters to support each character.
And well, the conditions are still the same as vanilla for getting the Gaiden chapters and the true ending, so yeah, you still need the requirements
FE6’s early “doubled HM bonuses” quirk doesn’t exactly have the caveats that you describe.
It only applies to units that are present at the start of the chapter. Reinforcements - such as Rutger - have “normal” HM bonuses. This can be seen by comparing the cavaliers at the start of FE6 chapter 4 to the ones that reinforce from behind on turn 11. The starting cavs are mostly level 2-3, but the reinforcing ones are level 4, and are weaker than the starting cavs despite the higher level:
On top of that, it seems the doubled HM bonuses quirk just doesn’t apply to recruitable units no matter what. I edited FE6 chapter 4 to have Rutger’s reinforcement squad appear at the start, and while this caused the generics in his squad to gain the doubled HM bonuses that they normally miss out on from being reinforcements, Rutger still only had his “normal” HM bonuses. Which are clearly “normal” HM bonuses, because he only gets about +3-4 hp and +1-2 to his offenses compared to his NM bases, whereas the generics who are present from the start have about +7-10 hp and +3-4 to their offenses.
(NM left, HM right)
If he got doubled bonuses, you’d know, because he’d look like this and be even more centralising:
(mockup made by actually doubling the amount of HM levels the chapter has)
Got it about the patch. But what about the topic I mentioned before, the one that explained how it might be possible, in theory, to change how FE8 works with supports?
I’m also working on FE6, and I was wondering if it would make sense to then port my hack to FE8.
Since I have several characters with more than 7 supports in my FE6 romhack, this is one of the little things I wonder if it’s feasible or not.
There are several things that are really not obvious to do with FE6 and additions that will only come later, in FE7, with pairing endings or text boxes with black backgrounds and white text for the spirits of the legends (Roland and Durban in FE7). With the display of the general range of all enemies on a single button as QoL (does not exist in FE6 patches but is valid in FE8). These are the kinds of modern micro additions tools that I can’t use in FE6 but would have liked to include if I had had the opportunity.
Have a look here.
It would be much better for a player who has played FE7 to find the same text box for Durban, wouldn’t it?
The full version is here (subtitles available in english, sure there’s mistakes because it’s not my mother langage).
The topic you linked says that you would have to find more RAM space to have more than 8, even still. I don’t understand why you thought it would work for getting up to 10 different support partners.
Sorry, I should use use “may” or "might” more often. In my mother langage, there’s only one word for might/may/can. Perhaps by reading this old thread, someone might have enough clues to achieve this result.
Personally, I am not able to accomplish such a feat; I only provided what might have been helpful.
At one time, there was no support reader in FE6. Now there is. We never know when progress will be made, and some things that seemed impossible eventually came to be. ![]()
Hey, is Perceval supposed to be Level 13 when you recruit him here?
I see, I was just about to create a new topic asking about it.
If the maximum number of supports is hardcoded (or something) between the GBAFEs, then I can simply work around it in my private project, improvise adapt and overcome.
Also OP/ZeN2002 played the 1:1 port a bit, had fun so far, really great to be able to play FE6 as a pure port as was possible on FE8, great work!
this is really awesome, are there any plans to port the rest of the FE6 ui to this hack? stats screen looks excellent
