Fire Emblem Sacred Stones Macro Edition (tentative name) - 1 Chapter

Summary

This romhack aims to merge multiple maps into one (currently only the first is done, which merges the first 3 chapters of FE8), along with other changes.
You control 15 generic units and try to help the green units defeat all red and purple units, the chapter ends if all red units are defeated, there is no game over condition.

Mechanics details

-The skill system. Every infantry has some kind of repositioning skill, cavalry and promoted fliers have Canto+ (with Canto+ AI), unpromoted flyers have Canto. Non-generics have an additional skill.
-The fourth allegiance patch, making it so Grado and the Bandits also fight each other.
-All damage is halved after calculations, making it so all units take longer to kill. Mines and poison become more valuable than vanilla. Effectiveness has been doubled to offset the halving.
-Units are unable to pass through each other, making positioning and movement order matter more than in vanilla.
-Trading is disabled (on the map, couldn’t disable it in preparations so I just leave the recommendation to not do it there).
-Non-generics can gain exp regardless of allegiance.
-Visiting villages earns the unit 2 levels and a 15-turn small boost to their evade.
-Any unit can get droppable items regardless of allegiance. Weapon locks were removed.
-Weapons/magic and Recover have infinite uses. Mend is changed to Festal and can heal at 1-2 range, with 5 uses like Restore and Physic.
-Due to halved damage, Vulneraries only have 1 use.
-Slim weapons are brave.

Why I cooked

I wanted to try out all of those things so I implemented all of them in the same romhack. I’m aware the mechanics may not be for everyone, but I wanted to experiment with them anyway and they had the effect I wanted.

Will I make more chapters?

Not impossible, but very unlikely. The inspiration happened for the first 3 chapters as I thought they’d merge nicely, not so much the others, plus the fact that I’d soon run into map size limits. I’d rather make a fully original map if I wanted to continue with this concept.

I hope that you enjoy it, or at least understand what I was going for with the mechanics even if you dislike them, which is perfectly understandable. Feedback is welcome.

I’m kinda wondering if you could at least do the merged Renvall map, since chapter 5x and chapter 8’s map are only slightly different.

Currently playing the game and so far I’ve been enjoying it. My goat is currently the javelin soldier.

I did have the map made for a while now, but it was that shrunken version that got me re-motivated to finish mine.
