Alright, so my previous account and Discord were sort of “compromised” Please bear with me.
It’s been a looooooong time since I’ve posted anything regarding my horrible tirade about Fates ages ago. With a new lease on life, a new computer and 3DS, and a renewed passion for the game I am officially continuing my previously sort of dead (let’s be honest it was dead) project: Fire Emblem Fates: Final Mix.
“What’s the point of this patch?!” Good question. It’s a little love letter towards Fire Emblem. From the first release down to Three Houses (Haven’t played Engage yet.) This patch not only increases the difficulty, it provides new content, re-tuned classes, changes to weapons, shifted growths for certain characters, and much much more.
“What separates this patch from various other patches?” I honestly just want to give the 3DS era of Fire Emblem sans Echoes (for now) my final goodbye since the 3DS store and online services have been shut down. Not only do I want to do this, I want to open this patch up for community feed back and make it a lovely collage/mural for all of us to appreciate and make the game our own special work of art. I know I ragged on the game back in my original pitch for the patch. That all changed the moment I went through each story and appreciated every little bit of it. The flaws and the perfections.
For the moment:
- I have already re-tuned a few classes.
- The Nohrian Bounty Hunter (Formerly Outlaw) : This class has transitioned from thief with res and staff utility to a bow wielding, mage-hunting unit. Once they hit level 10, they can class change into…
- The Nohrian Witch Hunter (Formerly Adventurer) : This class cranks their mage-mashing prowess up tenfold. Rivaling the Hoshidan Shinobi. They make use of Bows and Swords.
- The Hoshidan Mortal Savant (Formerly Master of Arms) : This class trade their spread mastery of all melee weapons into a sword wielding caster. A lovely little tribute to Three Houses. The name is subject to change to fit Hoshido more.
There have also been a few minor changes to classes such as:
- Certain healer classes gaining use of a means to defend themselves. Hoshidan Shrine Maidens and Monks will be able to make use of bows and spears from the get-go (Yay, Sakura can make use of her wild Str growth when she isn’t healing the squad!) while Nohrian Troubadors will be able to cast spells a la Gaiden/Echoes!
- Hoshidan Pegasus Knights will be able to rival the Nohrian Cavalier. Wielding Swords alongside their Spears.
- Certain classes have/may lose an additional weapon mastery but will gain additional stats, growths, or re-tuned skills to compensate.
- Certain bows/yumi are now 2-3 range while the Thunder tome (and it’s Hoshidan counterpart) are 1-3 with lowered might.
- And many more that are hidden/to be determined!!!
“Can we expect more than just class and item changes?” If I can get help on that front, I’d also like to tackle a few story inconsistencies between the JA and Global releases, possibly restore lost content, and work with other popular patches such as Gay Fates, Garon Quest, etc. To make this a memorable project. I also want to try to add:
A few more Awakening Characters such as Lucina
Try to add a way for certain characters to avoid certain ill fates in the story
A few more custom classes for Hoshido, Nohr, and even Valla
If not, then it’ll solely be gameplay based for now. Last thing I need is to turn FE Fates into my own little weird fanfiction.
So please, make your way to the Discord. Grab a copy of the patch. And join me for one last ride through Hoshido, Nohr, and Valla!
And, thank you to everyone who has stuck around and helped with the patch so far. Happy Friday!!!
