yeah, sorry.
no, sorry. that’s an interesting idea though.

I’m done Dark lord and the Maiden of Light. That was one of the best rom hack I’ve ever played sadly most of my supports did not make it in the ending but thats still good. Best game i’ve ever played!!!
Same I was quite sad after finished that most of my same sex support didn’t get to have a paired ending. The hack story and everything else are extremely good tho.
finally played the hack again lol (after a year)
finished ch16 to end within 24 hours lol
this time with much less suffering, since I know the boss’s spd and atk, planned out and managed to kill him in one turn without crits
seems like supports dialogues and postgame stories had been updated
I finished this hack a few months back and I honestly have no idea who you’re talking about.
since when was this an issue tho
Eli is obviously Noire.
Oh yeah, him. I never even made the connection. That FE13 thing sounds like a “you” problem. This hack is pretty great, so I hope you finish it. If you drop it for something as silly as that you’d miss out on a lot of great moments.
Getting further, and the idea that was just a coincidence is fraying.
Why is Yet using Leo from FE14’s catchphrase?
it was a coincidence. and so is that because i’m honestly not knowledgeable about fates characters all that much.
In Blair/Ardoome C I think you forgot to swap the speech bubble at some point:

“Merlinus” seems to have been find-and-replaced, which does this when the convoy is mentioned at the start of a sentence.

On chapter 21A, the knight/general reinforcements from the west belong to the “Monster” faction.
Places I was expecting to see battle quotes but didn’t get any, feels like some opportunities were missed:
Does Clovis just not see the disconnect between Sanchez having skeletons under his command and reporting “Hey Clovis it was totally the guy with two swords who performed the lost art of necromancy on your citizens I swear”?

The Profane Blade can be discarded. This probably isn’t something that should be allowed to happen. This happens because it doesn’t have the “unsellable” bit.

The commentary for chapter 17 bleeds off the screen.

A vanilla Intelligent Systems moment: “Water” tiles have an increased move cost for fliers in rain, even though they are exclusively used for indoor water, with outdoor water being Sea/Lake. (Pirates/Berserkers are fine.)

In chapter 22, Durga will move off the gate if someone’s in her movement range. Which, uh, caught me a bit off guard playing fast. Aside from the annoyance factor, this has the side effect that she then proceeds to complain about how boring it is that she’s stuck guarding the gate when she isn’t guarding it, and then retreats all the way back to the gate so that she can stop guarding it.
In chapter 25, the status screen says to defend Zahhak for 20 turns, while the objective window lists the more accurate 10 turns. On top of that, when the objective changes, the time limit is not mentioned on the status screen, only the objective window (people do play without the objective window though I’m not sure why)
In chapter 25, the Thomas/Suzhen battle quote seems to make the assumption that you talked Clovis down back in chapter 13.
In Finale-3, Maximillian and Fuwades have an A support with each other. And it’s entirely functional. This really feels like you’re trying to have your cake and eat it too, because it makes no sense that this would be the case when you reach the ending and find out that the Fuwades in this chapter was a body double. (BY THE WAY, getting real sick of that trend. This story has roughly 20 other instances of antagonists refusing to die, either by retreating when beaten, having body doubles, or appearing to die and then later turning out to have faked their death. Really hoping this gets toned down in the sequel.) Not having the support there at all (or having it only be on Max and tied to a version of Fuwades that isn’t present so it does nothing) would be a win-win, it foreshadows that something’s not right and makes the fight less BS.
hey thanks for the extensive feedback.
I would have done this but I don’t know how to do that since it is different from assigning boss dialogue. Maybe I could have done it if i used the peg sisters character slots for the armors but I didn’t think that far ahead while assigning character slots. And I sure as shit am not swapping slots around for that now.
It was. The reasoning is pretty mundane. Ruhtra’s portrait was Arthur’s initial portrait. So when I had it replaced, I had an extra face I could use.
I thought of this myself but this is a case of the game’s limitations. the final uses a lot of event IDs and I literally ran out IDs for boss dialogue. I really wanted to add more but I couldn’t.
sanchez never said orion did necromancy. he just said he killed innocent people. that aside sanchez is still very suspicious so if that isn’t good enough for you, then just consider lord clovis a dumbo.
this really can’t be helped because of how 7’s AI works. if someone is set to be not move at all and then has their AI changed to rush, it makes them rush but not attack.
yeah a lot of people have mentioned they don’t like how the the bad guys don’t die for one reason or the other. i’ll keep that noted. the A support stays though.
as for all the errors you found, thanks for pointing them out.
Right, easy to forget how limited FE7 is
I know triangle dialogue in FE8 is done through the battle quote list and didn’t think to check FE7. Nice Arthur lore. My bad on Sanchez.
So, I’ve been replaying this wonderful game for the third or fourth time, and as I was playing I got curious about something that hadn’t yet occurred to me. You mentioned in the OP being buddies with TactHack, the guy responsible for creating the other awesome hack/fangame Order of the Crimson Arm and that he helped keep you motivated.
One of the things I love most about this game and Crimson Arm is the amazing writing they both have, but one of the details that made me smile most in Crimson Arm was that there were differences in dialogue and scenes based on what support levels the main characters had with other units. Like depending on his support level, Algimas could get special scene with certain support partners.
With that in mind, I got curious if this game had any scene differences like that regarding the main characters. That is, if certain support levels could affect the dialogue. And I did discover something! So, putting this in spoilers just in case…
Turns out, it’s true! During CH25: Within the Dark, when Orion and M!Tact arguing with Freesia about joining forces with Zahhak, by default she gets incredibly angry at both before agreeing to the alliance. HOWEVER, if she’s got an A-Support with M!Tact prior to CH25, she’ll actually not explode and instead ask M!Tact if he really doesn’t trust her even after she gave him her mother’s dragonstone in their A support! Amazing! Once again, big kudos for putting this much effort into the game’s story! I love little easter eggs and details like this and it endears me to the characters even more than before.
I also think there may have been a scene difference earlier during the Ahribaal route with an A-Support Orion/Chandra, but I forgot to save and couldn’t backtrack to confirm. The M!Tact/Freesia scene is the only one I know for sure is different.
As of this time, this is the furthest I’ve gotten and I’ve only discovered the one difference. My gut tells me there might be more, so I was wondering if there are any other dialogue/scene differences in the game that are affected by support levels? You don’t have to describe them in detail or anything, but I would like to know which support pairs yield different scenes and in which chapters if it’s possible, since hunting them down would take quite a bit…
…Once again, this is an amazing hack you put out. Seriously, I tip my hat to you. DLATMOL should be the example used as a reference for how to make hacks the right way, it’s so awesome
@TytheBub Thank You for this hack, it was amazing. I really liked the story and gameplay for most of the game.
Only gripe i had was the last final maps spawning almost infinite draco zombies wich was insane, maybe u should rename the difficulty from normal to hard/lunatic.
hey glad you like it, thanks. as for support thing.
it’s just freesia. and there are two dialogue changes, the one you pointed out and another after the final chapter. honestly i wish i did more of that but i had trouble coming up with some of the dialogue. i did have more planned for both male and female tacticians during the last gaiden chapter but… for whatever reason they made the game flip out, so i just decided to can that.
hey glad you liked it too. and hey look on the bright side, that’s after a nerf i did haha.
Liking the hack more as it goes on.
You think you should’ve given a more detailed description for Wyrmslayers and such than “Dragonslayer”? What was wrong with the old “Effective vs. Dragons”?
EDIT: Oh, and the Star Sword doesn’t actually show up in FEBuilder. Dunno how to fix that.
it was a coincidence. and so is that because i’m honestly not knowledgeable about fates characters all that much.
i think it’s because “effective vs. wyverns/dragons” didn’t fit in the description box.
since 90% of this hack was done before febuilder was even out, a couple of things about it confuses it, the item list being one of them. if you increase the count to around 180 or so in the item editor menu, you should be able to view the rest of the items.
Fantastic hack.
I have had a heck of a lot of fun with this thing up to the final chapter 3. I have spent quite of bit of time on this map, and could not beat it after a few hours even with save states which were unnecessary earlier (i typically always complete maps on my first or second try). I did attempt to box bossman in, but I only had 4 units with +23 speed that didn’t get one shot by the Boss, one did 4 damage with like 40% hit and the other was Gotoh. Perhaps I was speed screwed? Anyways, it’s not obvious to me how I beat him at this point in less than 7 turns with my current resources and units, so I am just going to assume he made the empire great again.
Perhaps I’ll just restart and grind supports on Horton or something. I didnt use supports and previously burnt through all my resources earlier so… resource management is quite a bit important. I’m typically very liberal with it since I typically can be in mainline FE games.
That being said, i loved the rest of the game. The portraits were a bit odd at first but I fell in love with most of them… like I love Hyle and Dale and Shanks and Ronaldo. Good on you for these designs.
I also loved how you made the game more player phased focused, including making 1-2 physicals more rare. You also elicited actual fear and excitement with your map design from me… like chapter 19. Intense. And you had ton of cool effects.
Thank you for making this hack!
