Fire Emblem: Dark Lord and The Maiden of Light

Does the manakete still gain exp at a slow rate?

she gains the same exp as a promoted unit

makes sense. I always wondered why she got so little exp compared to other units.

Hi there! I’ve been enjoying this hack immensely but I’ve run into a really wierd bug that is preventing my progress and I was wondering if you knew how to fix it. I’ve been looking through this thread and I didn’t see anybody else mention it or even anything similar. In the intro of chapter 19 when the scene returns to Orion and Freesia after the tactician has gone and helped Arjun and it starts going through all of the characters’ reactions somehow the dialogue gets stuck in a loop? When it gets to Fiana, Niya and Vito it then goes back to Fiana and continues to loop. I’ve replayed chapter 18 and ran into the same problem again! I’ve tried skipping the scene but then it just stops at Orion and Freesia again.
Should I try and bypass the glitch by taking Fiana, Niya and Vito to chapter 18 and letting them die? or is there another way to fix it?

try pressing start (tho that might skip a lot of story)
or its just an emulator problem (I think the maker didnt make many changes to it?) so maybe use other emulators I’m using myBoy on android and I never run into this issue
good luck at playing this game

yeah just press start to skip the cutscene, sorry. i know what’s going on, i’ll fix it when i can.

Aight I just finished the first nine chapters and wanted to write my earlygame impression.

The hack reminds me a lot of vanilla FE7 in both good and bad ways. The simple compact maps, the emphasis on enemy phase, unbalanced unit dynamics (OP fliers, bad fighter and armor knight, etc.)…. but you know what, as a whole I enjoyed it. Not gonna lie, as much as I like all the QoLs from modern FE8 hacks, it’s a nice change of pace to return to good ol’ FE7 hack with a mechanic that I’m already familiar with.

It’s perhaps a bit too easy (for longtime FE players and especially players of hacks), but then I assume the first nine chapters comprise the Lyn’s Mode of this hack, and that the difficulty will ramp up eventually with more super effective weapons. Again, strong FE7 nostalgia with the way I can casually breeze through the early maps and feed the exp to any unit I like without worrying too much about long-term viability and whatnot. I do think the early maps could’ve used a bit spicing up, maybe by adding side objective or extra challenge.

The narrative and character interaction are aces, I particularly love how… unusual and crazy-looking some of my playable dudes are, lol. It’s easy to read too, dialogues are short and snappy while still conveying the sense of urgency and letting the characters’ personality shine. While I would’ve loved a permanent move from the archaic method of Support activation, it at least doesn’t seem to require as many turns as the original GBAFE’s, and I enjoyed the ones I’ve seen. Berserk Archer, Ratface Rogue, IShitonYourCereal Peg Knight, and AngryRockStar Knight are my favorites so far.

I’ve tried skipping the cutscene with start but that just leads to the game getting stuck at the end of that same scene again for some reason. I’m using the VisualBoyAdvance emulator so maybe that has something to do with it? Is there any other way to forceably skip that cutscene and get to chapter 19?

Don’t worry, this one was on me. An oversight on my part had Fiana’s check and Vito’s check sharing an ID number and that caused Vito’s thing to go back to Fiana’s. Sorry for the inconvenience but I fixed it, update 1.3.1 is up in the first post now and that fixes that little error. Curious you should bring up how pushing start doesn’t work, I need to look into that since I’m seeing that too and it should be skippable. I’ll have to do some experiments. Anyway, thanks for informing me, that was a pretty big error.

Yeah I can agree to that. They were the first maps I did so I tried to be pretty basic with them. Some of them I would like to change a little bit but I’m not gonna be doing that for a while.

I don’t really have a discord link. But I am glad you liked it a great deal, thank you.

Yeah, before upgrading to the latest version, I can’t skip that loop in Chapter 19 too, pressing B just froze the game while Start led to black screen.

Midgame has gotten noticeably more challenging, I’m enjoying it. The narrative dovetails really nicely with the gameplay, especially in Chapter 14 (Stratagem), where I had the exact same reaction as Ronaldo following the conclusion lol. That chapter has been my favorite, and the following three-parted chapter was also quite good.

There are times when I feel like enemy density should be a bit higher in bigger maps in particular, and things like invisible traps in Chapter 16 and partial snowstorm FoW are unnecessary annoyances IMO. Promotion items are noticeably sparse too, which I’m okay with for the sake of difficulty control, but I did end up with a couple of units at 20 because I don’t have their specific promotion items yet. Functionally speaking, it’s hard to argue against just having universal promotion item from the start in lieu of the old class-specific items.

Also, I wish I can read (and reread) the Support convo that I don’t have time to get, any plan to publish them someday (in form of external document maybe)?

This has actually been on my mind lately. I know no one is going to bother replaying the game enough times to unlock every support. There is a thing in FEbuilder that unlocks the support viewer with all the dialogue already unlocked for viewing pleasure but i dunno if I wanna do that. Some of the enemy units also have supports at the bottom of the list and since they don’t have any dialogue, it makes the list look kind of messy. Maybe I should have them readable outside the game instead.

Perhaps having a word document with all of the written supports in it included in the download would help.

Hello, I just recently play this hack and it was lit, but there’s some issues i wanna report.

  • When i’m picking my units in chap 13 Blair and Emma suddenly disappeared in my roster (Permanently disappeared)
  • Chap 26 i met the requirements to advance for the next stage but i stuck on that chapter so i wipe all the enemy but guess what i’m still stuck and roaming around like an idiot

Dale the avenger of crops is the best

Short question: Is poor Whitney’s luck growth also 0?

And her supports with Rudi aka my tactician lady showed the male portrait.

Aaaaand once more I must say: Thank you for this awesome hack. I’m sure no other hack can hold a candle to you in terms of character design. So many chars were interesting even before you added the supports and now it’s even better. Too bad supports in GBA FEs are so annoying to get. Played through Sacred Stones a million times and still don’t know most of the supports
Your commentary in the prep screen (don’t know when this got added) is interesting as well.

Yeah, Whitney’s luck growth is 0. Someone in the higher domains of reality hates her or finds her suffering amusing. Thanks for informing me about that error too. I’ve been finding plenty of things like that still. Also glad to know you like it. The commentary thing was actually added this last update. I don’t know how to get rid of the fortune telling, so I decided I might as well try to convert it into something else.

I don’t know what to say about the first one. No one else has reported anything like that. I’m stumped on the second one too. I can only recommend you replay the level again and see if it happens again. I’ll try to replicate these errors myself in the meantime. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I’ll probably do this. Gives me an excuse to find more errors in the text anyway.

What a cruel being that one must be^^ But not only he finds it amusing :>

wait are there supports in this game?

Yep, added with one of the updates.

Oh hell yes. I didn’t honestly know the big support update came in at last…
One question though- does the new version break saves from like 1.1…?
