Fire Emblem 8: Self Randomizer (Reverse Recruitment Edition)

When a bunch of stats have a buff/debuff like that for no reason, the culprit is generally the emulator. What emulator are you using?

He has a stat-boosting skill and tome equipped. There’s nothing wrong there.

Ah gotcha, my mistake.

Well hello there! Is there any way for me to run this patch through some sort of randomized recruitment, or is it too modified to randomize the joining order? I have seen the original self-randomizer being run through this option somehow, but I have no idea how to accomplish this.

As for feedback, I have a lot of fun with it, I like how it punishes the player less for randomizing into previously instant bench classes, and gives monster classes in general something to work with, like a dedicated monster weapon shop, which is neat. Including armory in dreaded 5x is a big mercy, as this chapter killed plenty of fun runs, but I wish you could just buy vulneralies in there as well, I had no choice but to rig the rng till I dropped an elixir from the chest, as I had no forms of healing whatsoever.

It’s too modified to run it through something to randomize the recruitment, sadly. That’s partially because of how I made it reverse recruitment.

But I’m glad that you like this so far!

I’ll also edit vulneraries into the shops.

Grand! Do you per chance know of any way to apply randomized recruitment to the base self-randomizer rom? Ghast have a let’s play of this going on his channel and I’m trying to figure out how exactly did he manage to do that. He never gave any details.

Vulneralies is 5x would prevent a fail state, for sure. There is however another instance in chapter 9, that might spell a dead run, where I encountered my first enemy manateke on the bridge. If he is also random and I just got unlucky then it’s fine, as a restart would then change the class of this enemy.

This one have a much lower chance of stopping the run as your pool of options is much bigger at this point in the game, so you are more likely than not to have a solution for this, like for me it was a shaman Caellach with a luna tome, I still had to rig the rng to not get critted, but it was workable. Grisly Wounds and the like would also work, but conventional methods fail, no one else in my team could damage him, and only 4 people could survive retaliation. Luckly the bridge was not too wide so I was able to wall him off with units that could take a round of combat.

However if the player have no means of piercing his resistances, then it’s gg, as the goal of the chapter is defeat enemy, not seize or kill the boss.

Alright, I posted an update that lets you get Vulneraries in Chapter 5x!

So, I decided to try this hack and I think it’s a lot of fun!

Just a question though:
During battles, the map music continues to play, and it changes only against bosses

Is this intentional? Maybe you said it somewhere and I didn’t read it, but I thought I’ll ask anyway

Yea, it is. I remember he mulled over it for a while but decided it’d be a neat inclusion.

Exactly! Y’know, it’s like Three Houses!

There’s one instance where the music does NOT change for bosses, I think.

Thank you for your answer.

I do have another question though, I hope I’m not disturbing you too much

I’m on chapter 10, and cormag’s replacement doesn’t spawn. Is it intentional/known?

He’s the soldier in the hole in the wall. I put him (Ephraim) there so that he could spawn as an infantry class while also being easier to recruit.

Oh i totally missed that, thank you!

Hello again, I have managed to progress further, and I got some interesting bugs regarding the summoner class.

I promoted Shaman Caellach into summoner during chapter 10, for some reason the summon latched itself to Patriarch Fado - he gets XP, not the summoner. Not only that, but the xp gain is HUGE, around half a lvl for any kill, and in case of a lvl up, it shows a wrong lvl, different from Fado or Caellach’s actual lvl. Bizzare, but honestly welcomed glitch : P

You must also already know that, but if someone gets berserked and then attack the summon, the game crashes immediately.

Sweet merciful god! Fado? You okay buddy?

Well, if you can’t beat the Demon King, become the Demon King.

Yeah, Demon King be playable. Because hey, why not?

Also, I’m gonna release that Hard Mode version I eluded to before! I’m also going to list some other things to watch out for, so…

Alright, check out the base message of the thread! Hard mode is out~!

Also, new update out for Hard Mode! A minor one: mainly graphical changes for the Mercenary and Hero classes.

So, can the bug where enemies don’t drop items on enemy phase just not be fixed?
