I hope to have a demo out soon for the first five levels this week.
Oh boy. From having to deal with Zephiel’s crap:
OAM issues with battle animations (Solved)
to my most controversial question that had me restart the project for good measure:
A question about project originality
To this palette problem that is still unsolved (PLEASE, I BEG YOU):
Graphics Frustrations
I finally have a project announcement, a preview of my project, Fort Pinewood.
Fort Pinewood is a game of twelve levels on one map, following the chronicles of Nurm and his small group of friends work to defend their new home from many dangers. It takes place in different screens of one map:
Trapped here, facing strange enemies with no preparation screens? What could possibly go wrong?
Features
Units
There are seven units, including:
- Nurm (Vagabond, AKA Villager)
- Fritz (Pupil)
- Kate (Trainee)
- Clive (Journeyman)
- Hadrian (Archer)
- Kala (Pegasus Knight)
- Jekyll (Paladin)
All seven of them will gain more skills at level 7, 14, and 20 with the exception of Jekyll who gets skills at level 10 and 20. Class skills will also be distributed to our cast to make them even stronger. All seven of them can reach A-support with each other, giving well-wanted rewards for doing so.
Difficulty
There are three difficulties:
*Normal
A laid-back difficulty where you can just clobber your enemies if you build your units right.
*Difficult
More enemies spawn, with some minibosses in certain levels. Not to be taken lightly.
*Lunatic
Nurm’s in way over his head. Prepare to face FE9 Maniac Mode levels of enemies (Somewhat gentle in early maps.)
Extra
*Super Campaign
Once you beat the game, you get the world map with the Lagdou Ruins repurposed as the Super Campaign, a much harder version of the game with cruel and unusual twists. All supports are removed so you can obtain rewards you didn’t get before. Once you get enough, something special waits at the end if you’re playing Lunatic…
*Endings
This game has six different endings to the story, three of which are only obtainable in Lunatic. Not all endings will be a cakewalk and will need good planning to get!
*Secrets
To those who got a first look at this project, I’m going to share some secrets!
*If you stall the first level for 15 turns, you’ll get Metis’s Tome.
*In the fourth level, going adjacent to the waterfall tile gives a buffed Axereaver.
*In the ninth level, the pond will freeze over. There are secret treasures on it!
*All levels have secrets of their own, including in the Super Campaign. Can you find them all?
Status update: Figured it would happen eventually. Making seemingly innocent changes, and then the ROM explodes. Tile changes randomly multiplied by 12 on chapter 2 while wrapping up on Chapter 3. Yeah, even if this is just an easy access editor, game design can still throw a good hour into the trash at random, much like life. Time to get the ol’ backup…
