FE8 Self Randomizer [Complete v2.00] *Pick Your Edits* <Boss Recruitment> [100% Growths] |Dancers Only| <Reverse Recruitment> [0% Growths] {Oops All Lyon} <Character Crossover> [QoL Enhancements] 700+ characters - “Vanilla” Gameplay

I believe I fixed this issue last week. It was happening in long convos past 0x555 bytes in. Thanks for mentioning it, though. I appreciate bug reports.

Also, if you want stats adjusted accordingly when changing classes, you could use the debugger to get the heart seal item 0xB7, although I don’t think anything is set for boats to reclass into, so you’d need to turn them into archers first with the debugger.

To get the new update, do I re-download and re-patch?

Correct. Your current save file still works, but savestates made in different versions could break.

You’re awesome!

Edit: I just updated and swapped out and used “Resume Battle” with no issue! In fact, I immediately noticed a new feature! Enemies shade red and shake slightly when they’re within range of an attack! Very cool.

My plan is to finish out my playthrough from here and provide you with my detailed notes on my experience once I’m done, if you’re interested.

Thank you for re-awakening FE-GBA for me

First off, well done, this is incredibly fun and well made. I’m having an issue where the game goes completely black and stops running as soon as I beat chapter 5, is this a knowm issue?

  1. Reset emulator.
  2. resume chapter
  3. crash occurs?

Could you send me a .sav file? Either via my discord or as a drive/dropbox link

I am definitely interested. Feel free to share parts of your playthrough here or in #playthrough-blog on my discord server and any feedback here or in #feedback-and-bugs.

Really cool romhack! The breadth of customization options available is truly impressive.

Not sure if you are still making updates, but a couple of things for the suggestion box:

  • It would be nice to be able to do default portrait colors with “Janky” battle sprite colors. I like keeping the characters the same but randomly reclassing them and seeing how their battle sprites turn out.
  • (It would also be really cool if the characters from other games also had their own unit palettes for battle sprites, or somehow take them from the portrait colors, but I’m sure that’s a massive unrealistic effort)
  • It seems like the support hearts feature can’t be turned off, or at least I couldn’t find an option to do so.

Um i guess this would be a weird question to ask but why is older Karel (fe6) in an unpromoted class when I’m scrolling through the character selection screen I guess you would call it isn’t he supposed to be in a promoted class? Is He adjusted so that when he gets back to his normal level in a promoted class he would be the same as he would be in Fire Emblem 6 just wondering?(if so then leave it)

Funny you ask that cuz someone else that was streaming in the game mention that with the heart support anyways it’s there so that the supports can be grabbed faster instead of you having to wait like eternity for and basically stall next to the boss just so you can have a support with Erica and Ephraim for example( the support limit is still in place it’s just now you can be able to grind supports faster if it’s yellow that means two units can support red basically just tells you that they got some points)
The first thing that you said I think that would probably be better too I don’t know why the portraits are randomly colored considering that it’s based off of circles version.( but all it’s really doing is taking the pallet from the vanilla character so you could just set it to have vanilla characters and classes and just debug the class that you want that way the portrait should stay vanilla and you’ll be able to have whatever class you want in whatever janky pallet you want)

Oh thanks, that’s cool. So using debug mode to change a unit’s class will keep the unit’s color palette rather than switching to the default color palette for the class like randomizing does?

Yep as long as you keep vanilla characters and vanilla classes

It depends on the character slot. If you place FE6 Karel in the place of an unpromoted character, his class will be mymidon and you’ll be able to train and promote him like any other myrmidon. The opposite would also be true. If Fir for example replaced Seth, she would be a swordmaster.
If you decide you don’t like that, you can use the debugger to either manually change Karel into a swordmaster (or using the promote command). You can also manually choose his class before starting the game.

Actually he’s always unprompted you can actually check the tables in game and it shows him as an unpromoted unit that’s just something that’s with the tables

Go here in game and tell me what class shows up his promoted class or his unpromoted class I think this is what they’re talking about also technically that’s not always true because there is a chance if an unpromoted unit shows up in a promoted slot that they will become the unpromoted version as well unless you turn off the ability for that to happen in the settings the thing also is if he is in a unpromoted class he will never promote he will also show up if you have no promoted classes showing up which is technically wrong cuz he’s technically supposed to be in a promoted class

Sorry. It didn’t happen to me when I was playing, so I thought it worked like that. It’s still possible to manually change him into a swordmaster in this screen though.

Yeah but that’s for every appearance of him you basically have to manually go ahead and change it which can get tedious if you have to do it every time he shows up also doesn’t affect the fact that he’s not a promoted unit which means that he will show up if you have promoted units filtered out (could be annoying to have to change manually)

Oh ok thanks for the info then (was going to do a no promoted unit run thats good to know)

Something else I have to ask wtf can I do if the boss becomes a fleet and I don’t have any flyers on hand (since apparently boats don’t have Mountain movement)
Sorry to bother people

Skip the chapter that is weird now that you mentioned it since all other units if they’re on a mountain have like at least some Mountain movement I don’t know if that bug will be fixed?( the best thing is to just skip chapters like that sorry to hear) you can also filter them out I think I don’t know exactly what you would have to do to filter them out (i don’t think theirs a way but who knows) also just debug give them one move Plus that will fix it

Ooh that last option is probably what I’m going to be doing how much move should I give them on top of their normal move
