i got a question
why is the light tome Rhea has named fuath?
what is a fuath???

So I got to the desert chapter (Macuil’s design is phenomenal by the way) and just wanted to ask, for my own sanity, is it still luck-based whether or not a unit finds an item? And do Thieves still have a guaranteed chance of finding items? And how many items are there? I found three, but still feels like there are more.

Beannacht and Fuath spells both come from Irish, like the rest of Nabatean names and language, meaning “blessing” and “hatred” respectively.

There are six desert treasure items in verse XI, and yes the mechanics are unchanged from vanilla - thieves have a guaranteed chance of finding it, otherwise it is luck based.

hatred for a light tome seems a funny choice though.

I’ve been enjoying this room a lot, but i have a small doubt is there a guide for the recruitments? I haven’t figured how to recruit the pirate guy, i tried with the lords and the bard.

Talking to him with Rhea should recruit him.

Hey everyone! Hope everyone’s enjoying the hack! I’ve updated the download link again with several fixes:

  • Fixed portraits not clearing during the verse XXI ending cutscene.
  • Adjusted the prologue to make it an area escape (i.e. arriving to any of the tiles past the blinking arrows allows the Arrive command)
  • Fixed a visual error where houses in verse XV get destroyed upon visiting.
  • Fixed the Saoirse-Johanna map conversation being inaccessible. Saoirse has received several stat buffs.
  • Added a droppable Halberd to verse X.
  • Rewrote the house convo in verse XI to more explicitly mention desert treasure, and adjusted the map to hint at the locations of desert treasure with house ruins.
  • Fixed Generals losing axe rank upon promotion from Knights.

hey, there seem to be some glitched or missing support convos? the cichol-cethleann c convo just gave me the vanilla ephraim-kyle convo instead

As the thread OP says, most support conversations are not yet written, and it has a list of conversations which are. Cichol/Cethleann is not on the list of finished convos as of right now.

Is there a reason why Salvatore is the only character to not get a new mug in the nemesis chapter where the crested characters come back to fight

Yes. For reasons long lost to time, Salvatore seems to have stayed the exact same age for those 150 years. He is a strange one, isn’t he?

I started playing today and thought Macha’s design was adorable. I got her to level 2 and she got almost every single stat increased. Then I beat the prologue and remembered that Rhea and the 4 saints are the only survivors of the red canyon massacre… rip

I completed the walkthrough and it was an amazing hack

Haha… Sorry, but she is quite adorable, yes! It’s not easy to spot on her portrait since it is on her chest, but like the other Nabateans in the prologue, she has a sign which indicates that she will be the source of the Crest of Goneril.

Thank you very much, I am glad you enjoyed the hack!

Based on the symbols on the nabateans that were unalived, these are the crests that come from each one:

Balor: Blaiddyd (confirmed in dialogue)

Macha: Goneril (confirmed by dev)

Neamhan: Lamine

Fionn: Riegan

Beara: Gautier

All the blood connections listed here are correct.

While she doesn’t show up in the prologue, the source of the Maurice/Beast Crest was Ernmas, mentioned in Macuil’s battle conversation with Maurice in verse XXI.

hopping in with this (so i can be post 200)

probably the first ever 0% growths run of this hack has been completed. i was originally unsure on whether i want to try, but at some point something clicked and i decided it was worth a good shot.

run was done on feb 8 patch (with bandage uses nerf) up until chapter 9, then from chapter 10 onwards i switched to the feb 14 patch. i actually did ch10 on the prior patch but then i found out i forgot to steal the move ring lmao so i had to redo it on the new patch instead

wont be doing a recorded run as of now because hit rates are (mostly) terrible and i dont really have the time to route this into something watchable (chapter 14 was like a massive rigfest at some points at least)

character reviews below (long, spoilery)

very long stuff

grouping characters by their join chapter

she was definitely a unit that existed. her ability to use magic made her a bit more useful than wilhelm, and can transition into staff utility late on.

wilhelm was a lot less useful than rhea, though he did have some random utility late on due to flying and labraunda being strong enough to bonk fliers despite his dogwater strength. the two cavs did early cav stuff, paul was decidedly a lot less useful than erich but his shittiness unironically got me a funny prize.

you may be surprised to find out that despite cichol looking like the VERY OBVIOUSLY better unit, the much more important unit in the long run was unironically cethleann. the usefulness of lily’s poise (aka the cethleann crest) generally depends on a certain power level between your units and the enemy, but in the context of this run lily’s poise almost never stops being useful. cethleann also brings to the table staff utility and random rescuedrop shenanigans when required.

despite cethleann obviously having like stats that are probably worse than like fe8 vanilla moulder at join, LoS is set up so that you can actually get very insane value from managing your inventory correctly. prayer rings lets her tank enemies as long as they dont double her (hand cannon fusiliers dont double her late on), she can stack shields to tank random mages if required, and there are times where the +1 atk boost from lily’s poise is unironically a requirement to achieve certain KO thresholds

some other funny ass cethleann moments:

(also a funny side effect of 0% growths is that vulneraries are enough to refresh prayer ring which is lol)
anyway yeah Flayn Emperor is so good she breaks the game with growths AND without growths!

she was used a lot unpromoted, then i promoted her and found no use for her :frowning:
that said she was incredibly good offensively, like 8 strength and existent speed when using strong lances because she doesn’t have like the con of a wet paper bag makes her surprisingly good. she is fast enough to basically skewer her way through midgame pegs which combines with flier utility. mostly replaced by flavia after her join

i think i unironically could have invested more exp into childeric since i found some potential uses with him midgame as a promoted sniper, but alas it was not meant to be. johanna on the other hand was a very obvious long term unit. brave gauntlets are incredibly good and synergise with her high strength, and she also gets double value from lily’s poise since they basically count for +2 dmg total. this meant johanna was a very easy answer against annoying mages since she just beats them to death before they can actually do any real damage. brawler line is also solid here due to shove access (upgraded to smite after promo) which lets her help reposition or move things to where they need to be. anyway yeah an idea of how long she lasted:

solid unit of all time, tbh.

two of the most important units of the run, joining in the same chapter. Ernest is very handy in thief utility, or more importantly, being able to YOINK just about every shield he sees. shield stacking is a very strong strat here in order to bolster the survivability of some units, and lends very well into Lestek’s niche. Speaking of which…

if there was ever a unit that glued together an entire run, this was it. lestek’s defense was so ahead of the curve that it instantly catapulted him into demigod status. he doesnt have to do damage, or even significant damage. all he needed to do was to be a guy that can pull in enemies and never actually fucking die. despite that, it’s not like he cant actually do damage either…

yeah general goes hard

really though its the fact that most enemies in this game tend to hover around the low 20s in terms of atk power at best, even well into later on in the game, which gives base lestek an incredible amount of tanking utility off just like stacking 4-5 shields in his inventory and letting him just Sit The Fuck There. keep in mind this is also before stacking in lily’s poise to help tank even more. for instance he tanked like one half of chapter 14 with help from cethleann which is pretty useful given this is like probably the hardest chapter in the game lol

Peak moment.

Gerth is funny since he’s basically just built as a myrm but he’s on a horse. Unfortunately this means he promotes into paladin but with way less bulk than Erich. Indech on the other hand is a solid filler pick up until lategame, has just enough bases to do things.
Fwiw, crest of indech is actually re-move, but i softbanned it by simply ignoring its procs whenever it happened. This also happened with the person i gave the crest to (Ernest)

a couple of units that got brought out sometimes for filler. Khosrow was only used once in chapter 12 which required someone who can swordslayer stuff and Wilhelm’s starting position on the map was too shitty to pull it off. Sieghart was mage filler and pretty much outclassed by Salvatore

a kind of bum-ish squad. Salvatore was the most useful due to his good speed, Ines was an acceptable secondary tank (though lesser availability and bulk than Lestek is annoying), while the others weren’t seriously used. Carlotta was an okay secondary healer and there may have been use with her in valkyrie, but getting her there kinda sucks.

two of the most important units in the run. Macuil was basically just a very useful unit overall due to being overall fast and bulky while having good magic (rip when his stats were literally just saleh with -2 luck +2 res). Avreliya on the other hand is the major offensive carry for this run. This is probably one of the more unusual picks for carries that I’ve done in all of my 0% growths playthroughs across various romhacks, but the reasoning entirely boils down to her being 1) early enough to get a crest, 2) being reasonably fast and 3) her promoted class (spellblade) gives her access to crit boost like a swordmaster while letting her wield magic. This effectively means you now have a very fast magic unit that also has crit on their attacks.

how valuable is a good magic attacker in this game? the answer is actually ‘very’. in growths it’s not uncommon to have cethleann basically overtake mid-lategame if she promotes to priestess and then later bishop since not only is her exp gain fast but she also has very good growths in luck as well as mag/skl/spd which makes her a near invincible dodgetank that just orkoes everything. you don’t have anyone of that quality on 0%, but roided avreliya is just about the closest you get access to one. magic weapons are solid with wind swords having 40 uses and flier eff, hexblade has 1-3 range, and once avreliya promotes she can use regular tomes which gives you access to stuff like the incredibly fucking cheap blizzard tome with 15 base crit that goes for like as much as an iron sword cost-wise. if you abuse the bolting tome you can also do funny meme shit like rigging crit bolting which can cheese some maps. avreliya physical is not to be underestimated either: the ch19 boss drops black sand sword which is basically SIEGE weaponry for phys, and yes you can still crit with it LOL

her hammer and heavydraw bow contributed more than her. 16 strength is kind of good but her speed and bulk is sus. tbh, she is probably usable, but like i’m not sure where you can seriously apply her especially since she still needs to promote somehow.

probably the only other decent choice for a ‘main’ carry vs avreliya, ultimately i decided against it since i didn’t feel her bases were good enough and for the most part magic options for non-swords are a lot more limited (she doesnt really have magic to begin with too). still though her movement and bows makes her a useful deploy at certain stages since she has just enough stats at base to do stuff like orkoing wyverns in ch 18 and putting in a longbow chip here and there. funnily enough she never used axes lol

refresher.exe as well as the ‘secondary’ offensive carry for the run. fabre’s value should be obvious to anyone who has played more than two playthroughs of a FE game. cassius was good as a secondary offensive carry that only needs like the most minimal of investment (a promotion item that isn’t even contested because ernest had to promote with master seal way earlier in the game). that said i think it’s a trend of mine that i heavily favour berserkers in 0% growths runs so it’s probably no surprise that i ended up using the berserker here. both of them were crested, though cassius crest was admittedly like the most whatever crest, it did help with some critstacking when i can send him out solo to kill some stuff.

everyone below joins after the crest ritual, so they cannot be used for epilogue.

myGOAT

easily one of the best characters for the final arc of the game. all the dark tomes in the game are basically his PRFs, you get another dark user later but they won’t be able to farm enough dark wexp in time generally. dark spikes OHKOes cavs like no tomorrow like the annoying carbine cavs, and you get cool shit like luna too. the only restraint at least is it appears you dont get access to nosferatu lol.

fun fact about myson: thanks to bohr being stupidly broken he can basically cheese the final boss (the first one, anyway) since he can just use bohr to cut him down to 15 HP after 3 uses and then kill with 16 magic Luna. all of his hits have 70+ accuracy too so it’s like decently reliable for a 0% growths bosskill (like with true hit you should probably get it about 50% of the time?)

some lategame filler. lev is good as a mag sword bot and secondary staffer due to his good magic and speed (he also can steal stuff from faster enemies than ernest), while laerke is decently bulky and her lower con than ludovica/flavia means she can rescue drop some people that they otherwise cant (mainly wilhelm and cichol)

if i could bring her to epilogue i would have. very strong lategame combat filler and arguably stronger than cassius, but alas. basically just imagine how long was johanna useful for and then now you have johanna but with actual stats lol

eh, banshee was useful i guess? mostly lategame filler due to good offensive bases. speed is ass though

Epilogue stuff

he sucks

decently fast and hits hard, more or less competent

hes super bulky but would be nice if he started with like braves or something idk

unironically your best staffer, if you saved berserk staff you can do funny memes with it here due to groupAI berserk glitch

end text

fun fact, if you crest Ernest he gets replaced by Anna in the epilogue. 30 speed and luck is obviously very nice and despite her okay offenses and meh bulk she dodgetanks enough. also can do goofy shit like steal rafail gem and aegis shield in epilogue lmao

chapter notes

8: berserk rhea phase looks intimidating, but is actually fairly simple. firstly she has provoke so every enemy will never attack you in that area. secondly berserk AI is basically just go for kills > damage so if you send in a bulky enough unit (like cichol) then rhea will prioritise killing enemies over trying to kill you. this lets you nab the energy ring, fortify and the knight crest with some decent reliability. once all the enemies are gone, rhea will stampede towards the boss which normally puts a soft turn limit on the map. however, you can circumvent this by using ludovica as bait. if rhea sees that she can reach ludovica sooner and kill her she will prioritise going after her as she doesn’t ohko the boss, so you can lure rhea into the chest room and just keep kiting her by moving ludovica in and out via the gap in the top of the room.

If you set it up right you should end up with something like this

this allows you to use the rest of your units infinite time to beat up everything else, get the other loot, and kill the boss so rhea doesnt run away with your loot.

9: umbral axe meme: one of the dolls on this chapter has an umbral axe and a droppable vulnerary. by making it use up the vulnerary, it will drop the umbral axe instead. however, the doll has 10 hp and 0 def so it basically dies to almost anything. the easiest unit to accomplish this is slim lance base paul who has 10 atk but drops to 9 due to WTD, as long as you dont give him any external damage boosts like erich support or cethleann crest etc. paul also doesnt get ohko’d so this kind of works out. the doll goes into heal AI below 30% hp, so you have to deal exactly 8-9 damage for this to work.

14: its probably better to just ‘ltc’ this by using macuil to snipe maurice with bolting attack. once maurice’s boss convo is triggered the map will end. the issue is probably getting to that point as well as the loot available on the map since you also want to visit the secret shop probably. also probably worth buying sothis icons here since avreliya doesnt hit some speed/bulk benchmarks late on which means the amount of rigging needed could possibly reduce

16: i didnt steal tassigny’s energy ring here and i’m actually not even sure how to get to her safely since gamelin basically starts running around the place at some point and nobody wants to take a hit from him

21: use the berserk staff on gaulle to watch her murder the palace residents. Very funny moment
