[FE8] Illusory Dungeon 2 - A Sequel to a Fire Emblem Rogue-Like

That’s right, a sequel to a Fire Emblem rogue-like game. To those familiar with the original Illusory Dungeon, you’ll be playing a very similar game with newer, tougher maps. To those who haven’t, it’s an entirely new Fire Emblem experience.

Guide your lord through the Illusory Dungeon, battling through progressively tougher maps an getting rewarded with a new unit at the end of each. But not every run will be the same, each floor is randomized, different every time. Even the reward units are randomized to be chosen from.

And this time, more than just the floors can change between runs. You now have the choice of two lords: Merriette and Arrielle. While Merriette is back to her old thief self, Arrielle allows you to summon extra units to help you out in the chapter itself.

Currently, the hack is still a work-in-progress, but you can play through 5 chapters here:

To those that have played the original, I hope you enjoy a more refined experience. To those that haven’t, just have fun. And once again, any and all feedback is encouraged and appreciated .

I’m enjoying the hack so far, but if you finish Floor 4 without any green units surviving, it seems like the game softlocks because even if you kill the boss it won’t move you onto the next floor.

Also, I’ve been playing on normal difficulty and with few exceptions most of the classes in the game just don’t feel great to use. I understand they should have specialized stats, but when most of my units have 0-2 defense and mediocre HP they can hardly survive a single round of combat (if they even had enough speed/hp to even survive a round of combat), and units don’t feel good compared to Illusory Dungeon 1.

I hope that last part wasn’t too negative, I absolutely loved Illusory Dungeon 1 and think this is looking great so far. I’m looking forward to future updates!

Excited for this to progress, I’ve had a lot of fun playing the first one. You obviously put a lot of work into it and the replayability is great.

What’s up, gang? Classic college development cycle means that I can finally work on this again now that it’s winter break. I think I’ve just fixed that ch4 softlock issue, and will now be tucking into the next section of the game. I’m probably going to release the next section of the game (up to the second boss) before working on the final version (a third boss), but before that will come a quick fix , which by the time you’re reading this will be out. This fix will fix the softlock issue. Glad to see everyone still enjoying this project, and hope you will continue to!

I know in your last game yoy stated the generic units are very intentional but is there a chance in the future of this one to add nongeneric units as sort of a “lucky unit” type of thing?
