That all changed when Aurus had invaded Argonax and murdered Emperor Gespard IX – a grave declaration of war. Princess Raena watched as her home devolved into the chaos of warfare; her only method of response was to draw her steel in an attempt to bring peace to her beloved continent once again!
…But that was twenty years ago. The frozen hearts of Argonax have not been thawed out – especially Raena’s. Her warpath lead to near complete domination of Welnara, even in neutral nations such as Ayalara or Vergill. When a former knight of Argonax scorned by the flames of war and a drifter from the once proud nation of Yamsha cross paths, they unknowingly entangle themselves into a conspiracy of family, power, and the scars that have been etched throughout the entirety of Welnara.

Fire Emblem: Searching For Light is a Rom Hack of Fe8 that I had started work on back in the summer of 2022. Since then, it’s gone through a port to Buildfiles, a port back to FEBuilder, a complete story and gameplay reevaluation, and very much cannot be considered the same hack that I released on the forums during that summer.

I’ve been playing your hack, it’s fun bit in chapter 2 while the thief reaches the top village and tries to destroy the village, the village doesn’t get destroyed even though there’s a message that the village gets destroyed.
How do you beat chapter 5, I defeated Novartis and the chapter didn’t end, also it’d be cool to know where the escape point is. Maybe you can delay the axe paladin boss reinforcements by a turn or two, I found it a bit difficult to escape her.
Chapter 1: Hitch is permanently on combat animations off mode despite my combat setting being on 1.
Chapter 2: The thief made it to the village and destroyed it. Then he destroyed it again the next turn and the turn after that. I killed him and was still able to visit the house and grab the armorslayer. I lost Shiloh this chapter and got the alternate scene but it ended up crashing midway through and I had to exit out of the emulator. I was able to continue on to Chapter 3 but I had to skip the post chapter dialogue completely.
Chapter 4: I checked and enemy stat screen and when I exited the map colors inverted. I was still able to play the map though.
#1: Hitch doesn’t have battle anims yet, sorry for the confusion! #2: For that first one, I swear I’ve fixed it, but I must not have, thank you for pointing it out! That second one is puzzling me, I’ve tested all variants of that scene before, what emulator are you using? #3: Again, what Emulator are you using? I’ve never seen this issue before.
I am hoping for the next release of SFL to contain at least chapters 7&8, but I know it will at least include supports for the currently implemented units, and chapter 7! Be on the lookout for whenever it releases!
A new patch should be coming in the next couple of days!
We are getting so close to the end of the first story arc, I’m getting excited to develop what’s beyond the earlygame!
Chapter 7 has been added with two new units: Lark and Pier.
Chapter 8 has been added with four new units: Selene, Feris, Sanya, and Yanice.
Reinforcement timing has been heavily adjusted in chapters 1-5.
Shiloh and Domino have received a few buffs.
Ceryn has been turned into a Myrmidon with a completely new statline.
General bugfixes: most importantly; a gamebreaking bug within chapter 4 has been killed!
General hack polish including: fixing movement noises for certain classes, setting class cards, setting APs properly on map sprites, unit palettes for player units!
Overall I would heavily suggest switching over to this patch if you’re in the middle of a playthrough.
