[FE8]Fire Emblem: Pyrathi Warlords [Complete]

idk what king smugs is exactly talking about, but alot of these sprites have coloring issues. The outline color should be a dark purple, as seen on the right sprite. The black outlines are very distracting on the left two sprites. Also the Chris’ cloak is desaturated in a way that clashes with his skin tone and hair.

The worse looking sprites are all most likely the ones done by myself, and it’s really not my forte. Thorn did most of the sprites for the returning Archanea characters and I think they look better and have a more consistent art style. This project is long since finished now (though I am considering one more update to make Caesar a better unit) so the portraits likely won’t be changed, but if someone wants to run through them and touch them up I’d be all for it.

Hey @Jotari . I came back to play the latest version of the game. Turns out, I can’t recruit Anna. I spoke to her with Christopher in every chapter she appears up until chapter 8. Then, in chapter 7 (the ashen plains), I couldn’t speak to her (previously I could, and that’s when I normally recruited her). I’m in chapter 8 now, she appears, Christopher is supposed to be able to speak to her, but he can’t:

Did the recruitment requirements change?

Edit: oh, oooooh, I see. In previous versions, she joined you as a blue unit, while know she is just there but in green. So she is “recruited”, I guess.

No, she should be joining as a blue unit. I’ve just done a test and everything seems to be working fine, and I haven’t messed with anything with her that would have changed how she works. I think you might have just missed talking with her in Chapter 5 (the Chapter 6 talk is actually optional). She should always be joining in the Taguel chapter if you managed to do it right, I never had her join in the Ashen Plains, though maybe I should have because her being an NPC is actually weird in that chapter as you’re allowed to attack her (on the other hand actually getting her to escape with her 1 move would be a nightmare on the Ashen Plains).

Chapter 5? You mean the island wreck? I’m pretty sure I did talk to her. That said, I loaded a save state in that chapter, so maybe I forgot to talk to her again afterwards.

Gotta say, this was pretty good. It was much better put together then it looks at first. The definite worst part of the experience is how bad most of the portraits are. But the world map was really cool, the story was fun, and the gameplay wasnt really too tough or too easy. Overall it was a fun way to just have another adventure in Archanea again.

If the portraits ever get updated I would recommend this to anybody, if not then maybe to just people who know how to edit them in Febuilder. I ended up replacing all the portraits for a few that I liked from the repo and it made the experience feel alot cleaner.

Thank you for the romhack Jotari <3

This is a pretty fair criticism. The existing Archanea characters tend to have good portraits, thanks to the efforts of Thorn, but the OC portraits where I was making them myself tend to look very amateur. I have improved somewhat since then, but art still isn’t my forte. Care to share which mugs from the repo you were using for my characters?

It was awhile ago now, alot of the portraits I made/used were slight edits or tweaks.

Some examples I changed Christopher into my own recolor of Ephraim’s portrait:

I also changed his world map sprite to; Hunter (M) {MeatOfJustice} so it matches the archer aesthetic…

For other units here are a few:

Enoch = this custom recolor of the repo’s young Gunter, original by {Cygnus, Garytop}

For Virgo I recolored the repo’s Sothe, original by {NickT, Stitch}

For Damian I recolored Garcia since in-game Damian is a blonde axe unit:

Sparticus - To match his in-game sprite, long blonde hair, no shirt…etc.

*Edit, here are a few more:

Lewis - The original was made by {Levin} and was marked as f2u/f2e, I recolored it to match Lewis’s sprites.

Ceres and Thalia - Original portrait is by {MeatofJustice}

Rene - Original is by {AKA Duke Airstepper Zoisite}, I just recolored the hair to match Rene

Manali - I removed the tattoo and recolored the skin of Almehda’s portrait, I think it matches the one you had pretty well (Almehda’s portrait is made by {QuoteDotLass, amena003}

For Ferrin I used this OC by {Levin64} that was also marked as f2e since it matched the one you had already

I have a bunch…but this post is starting to get long lol. Feel free to dm me on here or discord and I can share some more.

The Manali one is really good. If I go back and revise the portraits I’ll probably use that one. Fun fact, she’s a character from the manga

That is a really neat detail and heck yeah, if you wanna use any of them at all please feel free. I think this hack and Fall of Thabes compliment eachother really well. Together you get a sort of sequel and prequel to the Archanea games.

What manga is this exactly?

I’m really curious- especially since I don’t think I’ve heard of any that were fantranslated other than some gag ones and that one Fates one…

This one

There’s quite a lot of Fire Emblem manga from the early days of the series, though a lot of them aren’t translated. This was the second Archanea manga, the first one is completely untranslated save for a fringe effort I tried to initate that only got a few chapters in. There’s, I think, two Genealogy manga that have been fully translated. The most famous and probably most read manga, however, would be the Binding Blade manga as that doesn’t follow the plot of the games (sort of) and follows an original character that’s referenced in Binding Blade itself via a sword, since the game and the (first chapters of the) manga were published alongside each other. That’s the one they put the most money into advertising, even after the fact as its original characters ended up getting Cipher cards. Currently there’s an ongoing Engage manga that, I think, gets monthly updates that are translated right away. Haven’t read it myself but people say it tells the Engage story better than Engage itself.
