as is right now it seems that upon starting chapter 4 on normal mode, christopher just out and out disappears from your unit roster
Sorry I didn’t see this until now. Was very busy recently (writing a Master’s Thesis, not a lot of time for Fire Emblem). I’ll look into it right away.
EDIT: I can’t seem to replicate the error. Christopher seems to exist just fine entering into chapter 4. Can you give me any more specific details about what you’re doing in chapter 3? Or which emmulator you’re using?
Using the “Use” command on the Gourmet Lunchbox freezes the game.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I have no clue as to why that’s happening as the Bento Box worked fine. Fortunately I could use the Item Events patch to make a manual event to replicate their effect. This also gives the bonus of letting the command to use them be “Eat” instead of “Use”. Sorry about that, hope the freeze didn’t ruin the chapter you were playing. The updated version is in the link in the OP, have fun with the rest of the game.
@Jotari Thanks for this romhack but this was a very frustrating game to play.
The lord was so incredible pathetic weak that my thief unit and healer unit were doing way more damage then him with hes fixed damage…terrible choice.
Also i had mutiple freezes where in ch15 Soldier enemies will freeze the game against my witch Rostoe at 1 range, Steel lance vs Shaver, animations On.
I did like the story though but i just cant stand my Lord being so weak i couldnt finish it sadly.
Oh really? Crossbows were considered pretty good by the other play testers. It might not be obviously apparent but they all have additional effects based on whether or not you’re attacking. Christopher won’t be tearing through armies like some other protagonists, but the reliability of 1-2 range and 100% hit chance that ignores defense definitely has its uses. He can use conventional weapons after promotion, and has a decent strength stat to do so, but in my experience crossbows are usually still the superior option.
I can understand his complain, even if I don’t share it. Crossbows have a lot of interesting features, but many of us are used to protagonists making massive damage with a normal weapon. Even so, Christopher’s crossbows are not only good, but also broken at some points. He is one of the few characters that can actually harm Naga in the extra chapters, for once.
I want to play this rom hack in my mobile but don’t know which rom hack to use to patch this.Plz tell me which rom hack to patch this rom hack
You can download it from the link in the OP. It’s a UPS file you will need to patch to a fresh ROM of Sacred Stones. You’ll need some kind of software to do so. Not at my PC now, but I think I’ve used Lunar IPS to do so.
Thank you for your help
Is it normal that Rollo appears at the Warren port? I just finished chapter 11
I’m not super far into the story but I feel some lack of… refinement; there’s a lot of missing information, some (lack of) QoL, and several inconsistencies
- I noticed only after a while that crossbows deal fixed damage, wasn’t mentionned anywhere.
- Story a bit difficult to follow? I haven’t played the mainline game of the universe it revolves around.
- Iulia gets poisoned?
- Some green characters with names and profiles appear in skirmishes, but don’t seem recruitable according to the sheet. So… why not just generic characters.
- Anna becomes purple and is attackable on maps there is purple army.
- Some held items reduce con or speed by a bit, but it doesn’t specify.
- Any reason why magic system is this way? (it seems that light magic = crossbow) but why is dark magic only accessible thru skills?
- I’m fine with Merlinus convoy system, but it’s not even your unit. Unclear recruitment conditions, as you need to talk every chapter from 2 to 8. Eats a turn, and is inconvenient in the early game.
- Any reason for the movement changes? It seems very inconsistent across unit types, personally not a fan of it.
- Some bugs with promotion when holding a Master Seal; you promote into the Master Seal class when you pray, instead of the alternative class.
- Growth changes upon promotion is very weird and doesn’t seem to make sense to me. Some small changes to certain classes would make sense (e.g. magic growth for mortal savant)
- Enemy units having unusable/no items
- Terrain changes, notably Thickets and cliffs being traversable
If you could explain or address the points, the clarifications will greatly increase my experience
In order
*Yes, actually. You’ve discovered his secret early recruitment that isn’t mentioned on the guide. There’s only a small window of opportunity when this is possible.
*Hmm, you’re probably right that I don’t mention directly in game that crossbows deal set damage, though I do mention it here in the OP and in the trailers for the game. Still, maybe I could make it more apparent. There is a line suggesting you take out the armoured knights with Christopher in the prologue and it should be noticable that he kills the soldiers and archers just as easy as the armoured knight.
*If you haven’t played the other Archanea things then some stuff might go over your head. Iulia getting poisned is one such thing as she has an illness (though I think that is mentioned in dialogue). The allied characters in the skirmishes are likewise cameos from characters in the previous game that fit into where they are established to be in their endings. If you have any confusion about the story feel free to ask for clarification here. While it is an unabashed love letter to Archanea and its lore, I do want the story to be approachable for someone who hasn’t played the previous games, but as a superfan it can be hard to see the forests from the trees in such an issue. I will point out that there is a guide in game that lists the different factions and major characters.
*Anna becoming an enemy is pretty unavoiodable due to those maps having more than two enemy factions. Normally she is just an allied unit, but if you fight two enemies that can fight each other then the allied faction becomes an enemy faction. I’m not sure if there is a way to have more than three factions. There is a default option for a greyed out faction, but that didn’t work when I tried it.
*Light magic is used for crossbows because I didn’t need light magic and I wanted crossbows to have their own weapon type. Dark Magic being acessible via skills is just to be mechanically interesting. In the original Archanean games dark magic exists as a narrative device but not as a specifically distinct weapon. Sorcerers and Dark Mages getting dark magic access is like Awakening, but to make the system a bit more free I included a held item that can let any mage use dark magic at the cost of an inventory slot.
*Yeah, Anna’s recruitment might be a bit unclear, especially if you’re following the recruitment guide and only noticed after you’ve missed one of the conversations. The intent was to set up a series of continuing conversations like with Cath in Binding Blade, but I guess Cath showing up less frequently makes her more of point of interest than Anna who is on every map. That being said, I don’t think you really lose that much if you fail to recruit her as she still appears as an NPC with the same functionality.
*These are the movement values used in the Archanean games.
*Oh really? Bugs with promotion. Can you give specific examples of which classes you promoted and got the option you didn’t expect?
*Growth changes class changing is pretty standard for the series since class changing became a thing.
*Which enemies have unusable items? There was some issues with enemies that have dark magic not being able to use it due to the way that functions becoming a late edition, but I thought I found all instances of it.
*I think Pirates can cross cliffs to make their water walking element usable (since most of the tiles designated cliffs are just regular coastlines) while crossing tickets is exclusive to the enemy only Taguel class, which only appears in one chapter in the story.
Depending on the item you hold, when praying, you will promote into that class branch. For example, Pegasus Knight, I was holding elysian whip, and it would promote me to falcoknight, without consuming the item.
Few notes as I am progressing through the story:
- Some consumables can only be done during the map, but not in prep. Is that intentional?
- Since its an FE8 hack, I thought movement values would align the same. I didn’t know it was the values for Archanea series.
- The dark magic mechanic can be interesting but so far there aren’t any interesting dark tomes, lack of magic triangle.
- Enemies with unusable items was a skirmish on the map where 2 factions were battling. Some fighters (iirc) had longbows.
- Other missing info/QoL : Dracoshields or item held items having the description with exact stats, explanations of “gambit”.
- Whats with the salamander statues in certain maps, and why is it sometimes an enemy? (it is also an enemy in the arena)
- What is the benefit of blizzard over thunder? It has more weight, less damage, higher anima rank required. Shaver is also the same, but one different stats
Also im leaving my positive comments for later… Just sending my early criticism from the POV of “new player experience”, since the hook is quite important.
Praying isn’t meant to consume an item (but class changing is). You have a choice between convenient promotion at any time with an item or free promotion at the cost of waiting until a statue is available. Pegasus knight works a little funnier than other classes. I had established in story that Pyrathi has no history using pegasuses so I decided to not give them a promotion by praying. Only, mechanically I couldn’t remove it as an option for them. So I at first had them loop back to Pegasus Knight. I think people found that weird or I had some mechanical troubles so I finally let them just go falcon knight by praying. The Salamander Statues are usually allies but they have to be enemies in some maps as otherwise the chapter would auto clear by detecting no enemies.
Items being used on the field and not the base is probably a result of more complex functions. Anything that works like in the base game will come with a default use ability but something like a Rare Candy, where I need to construct new code for it to fullfil it’s function can only work with the patch that lets items call events, which only works from the field. If I had more control I’d let stuff like that be usable from the base.
Yeah, some of the randomly generated skirmish enemies can have the wrong weapon loadouts. I don’t exactly know why though as everything looks like it should be working on the assignment menu of FEBuilderGBA.
More Dark Tomes should come eventually, but I suppose some could be seeded earlier.
I’ll look into the Dracoshield description. If you can, note every instance of dialogue that looks misplaced, as it’s hard to find such things and some patches I install automatically overwrite text.
Items to clarify
- The Gambit item for Christopher and how all gambit works. (I still have no clue how it functions).
- ALL shields (they have the same desc; numbers would be more relevant)
- ALL item that are supposed to grant a special effect/protection, such as Fili shield, Wary Soul, Marksmen lenses… don’t have listed debuffs. So either remove the debuffs or specify them. Personally I’d remove the debuffs
- I know praying isnt supposed to consume the item. But with that bug, I can basically promote with the master seal without consuming it. Which is weird.
Is the game have difuculty options. Just asking because my day’s is rough recently so I need something that fun and not giving me stress too much
Yes, the game has difficulty options, but it’s a littler different from typical difficulty options. Easy difficulty gives every playable unit Paragon (based on a hidden mode in Thracia 776) while Hard gives all enemy Vantage+ (based on the highest difficulty of New Mystery).
Are the sprites and mugs finished because…they are not great and some are hard to look at. I really want to play more of this hack but it is a bit distracting tbh.
Yes, the sprites and portraits are all considered finished. Which portraits in particular do you have a problem with? Touching them up wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility.
ok you can mostly disregard what I said lol. I was originally playing it on my old 3ds and the sprites must have bugged out or just generally looked worse because of the system I was playing on. I tried again on my pc and they looked fine. Sorry to bug you lol
