Ima bouta go play this randomized and see how much broken randomization breaks it.
Story stuff.
The ending. My game crashed 10 times out of 10 when completing the final chapter, ending with “we are done”. My brother also beat this game, and his game continued where he actually got the rest of ending. Also, someone tells Mark he will be fixed, and ig that person is you.
bugs and glitches
I encountered a bug I would like to call “Mark Smuggling”. He was supposed to leave after turn 7, however I rescued him on turn 7 and dropped him on turn 8. He never left. My brother found this bug he would like to call " time travel ". After his ending, he was sent to chapter 7 with everything from before and all of his promoted units. They reverted when they reappeared in the story. Like how my brother had a level 20 sue, and when she appeared as a greenie, she was reset. Also, 2 Marks. Just something funny i would like to point out, as this should not be an issue in super deluxe. Mark smuggling might be an issue, not sure how you would fix that, but gl.
With my thoughts out of the way, me and my brother will check out Super Deluxe when it drops.
I guess randomizing the stuff won’t break the game any further. It might break it in super deluxe, with a new character, but it’s fine. How did it go? Any funny units?
Story Stuff
I don’t understand this. Did you manage to complete the game, and it crashed in the last cutscene? Or you couldn’t pass the last chapter? I remember someone couldn’t beat it, since the stats on the faceless were just so bonkers they couldn’t kill them, so I have a video of the complete ending, if you want to see it.
bugs and glitches
Mark Smuggling went completely unnoticed while playing through the game! Well thought lmao. I’ll see if I can think of something.
That’s not a bug. That’s a Victory Lap. It was supposed to be similar to The Binding of Isaac’s Victory Lap, where you go back to the start with all your items. It’s not going to be in Super Deluxe, though.
Good evening! I hope you’re enjoying this year’s FEE3.
Tonight, I’m glad to show you the… inner details of the world between worlds. A documentary regarding Fire Emblem’s most irrelevant feature: its bosses.
Now, this wasn’t a regular trailer. I wanted to do one, but due to creativity issues (couldn’t get the song’s artist to grant me permissions in time), I just filmed a soldier going through its cycle of life. Someday, I’ll make a proper trailer for this game.
About the actual game
I’m having a rough time. This week’s been the worst of the year, due to health complications (acoustic trauma) and several exams and proyects for college. So I don’t have anything to showcase the progress of the hack. I’m really sorry! It’s been like a month since I’m running in circles like a headless chicken trying to accomodate my life, and emulation theory’s not a priority at the moment. I’m so sorry! I’m still hype for the remake! Still have a lot of ideas.
A word of advice, for my artist folks: beware when you redo old stuff! It may become a massive sink of time, and you may lose a whole summer.
In unrelated news, Super Deluxe is released! It has way, way, way more changes than what I thought… But I’m super happy with the result!
The original post has all the changes, but I’ll list them here, too:
Story Additions
Those Born from Light and Code, revamped: An alliance in which its members don’t trust eachother is one destined to fail. As the members of The Order explore further into the emulation, the evidence of altered code drives them paranoid. The pressure’s growing exponentially…
New Sideplot: When the mule of sins loses their reason to exist… What’s left of them to do, but to overwork until failure?
The Black Fang’s Sideplot, Revamped: With the Black Fang under a new leader, two people start to notice the oddities in life. They begin to wonder if the guild has lost their already corrupt way, and that their place in Elibe has perhaps changed… But their new fates overlap: Only one can live to see the truth about their world.
A New Ending! The fate of the worlds in your hands… What are you going to do?
Overall Game Additions
Way, way, way less bugs! I now (kind of) know how to program! I have a title to back it up! I remade all of the events with a much better logic behind them* to avoid using the legacy code that made the 2021 version the buggy mess it is.
Almost every single line of dialogue has been rewritten!
SEVEN fully reworked maps, six heavily modified ones, twelve with very notable changes, and everyone with their touchups!
Casual mode! Select it at the start of the game
40+ (!!) New songs from the Elibean games, besides the ones already in the 2021 version!
Every chapter (should) have its backgrounds, songs, and Generic Soldier Portraits taken from the game it takes place. The Preparation Screen also has its background and song change depending on the world.
The Story is now divided into parts!
Supports! With its mechanic imported from Path Of Radiance, you’ll get supports when two units participate in the same map. No more support grinding! This is a work in progress: at the moment, few supports have been addded…
Each portrait now has Sacred Stones’ colour pallete!
More fluff! Added several joke/non serious scenes and events, including a several chapters long discussion about what a house really is…
Divine Weapons appear earlier! I forgot about them when I started making the 2021 version… But now, you can start the hunt as early as Chapter 9!
Axe wyverns! The correct way to Wyvern.
Nomad Troopers!
The Ephraim Gang gets a new ally! Get him on Chapter 15: Hunting the King! Though you may see him before that…
New Roy Squad! The unrivaled army gets their units scrambled once more. This time, they come with a powerful weapon! And with it, an inmortal unit…
The Extra chapters are now included in the story! Specially important since there’s now more room to breathe and develop the story.
Eirika can now promote earlier, starting Part 3! (around chapter 15 of the 2021 version)
You can now do a Triangle Attack!
There are now endings for the characters! These only appear in one of the three endings (which you can choose between them at the last chapter; you don’t have to play differently to access this)
Promotion branches return! Most of the classes now can choose between two classes when promoting.
And more! This isn’t an exahustive list.
Additional Gameplay Changes
Seth is back to a Paladin (yippe!)
Revamped Skills! Less skill bloat! The unpromoted class skill at level 10 is now gone. Your unit can now get up to 3 skills: One personal that they start with, another personal skill at level 20 unpromoted (that the promoted units don’t get) (staff-only units get it earlier! I’d recomend you get it), and a powerful promoted class skill at level 10. Beware! As the enemy can also get this powerful class skill!
The cavaliers are fused into one class once again, and their stat caps are back to 20 all around.
The Blades now have more hit and the “wary fighter” skill, that prevents any unit from doubling if fighting at one range.
The Lightforged weapons (now renamed Lightcode) have their healing reduced, their cost increased, and are now much, much rarer
The Fire Emblem now has a diferent purpose, to give it an unique efect based on its lore…
Troubadours can now choose between Bishops and Valkyries! This allow them to gain access to the Slayer skill.
Valkyries regain their anima magic!
Leveled up the enemies during the middle portion of the game.
Eckesachs and the Binding Blade are now only effective against Dragons, Wyverns and The Demon King (before, they were also efective against monsters)
Gleipnir is now effective against monsters!
New mode: Difficult mode!
There is now a Hard mode! Note that this game mode is currently untested beyond chapter 7, but I believe is beatable… I think. These are the changes:
Enemies have a 25 hit bonus! ouch!
You get aproximately half gold you’d normally have.
More agressive enemies!
Maps have hard mode changes (prejudicial and beneficial) that resemble the world that they’re in.
At some early chapters, certain units that fall in battle can come back, due to their importance in the story or the map. These safety nets are removed!
Note that this mode is NOT meant to be played in the first playthrough. Please start with normal mode! I don’t think normal mode is a hard game, but I think Difficult mode is… rough. Specially one certain early game chapter…
(Playing casual mode is recomended! Ephraim’s chapters may become unbeatable or tedious without all of your units.)
The game’s not finished! What’s Next:
I’m going on vacation, which is why I’m releasing super deluxe without finishing one aspect of it: the supports.
Supports were a last minute addition, and so I started writing them very late into development. This explains why there are so few of them (only six! awful!).
Delaying the game 2+ months because of supports missing was honestly not ideal, and I don’t think it’s that big of a deal (If you’re a no° 1 fan of supports, and only play games specifically because of Fire Emblem’s support mechanic, then don’t play the game yet I suppose.)
Difficult mode is also not tested. If you like to suffer, play it. But those two are the weak points of the hack at the moment, and will be eventually worked on.
(If you’re the first one to beat the game, in its current state, in Difficult Classic Mode, without any deaths, I will gift you… I don’t know, a copy of Astral Throne. But please don’t!)
A few notes before dying:
Thanks for the nice words of those waiting, and those that enjoyed the trailer! I hope you enjoy the game! I fell in love again with the concept, and had tons of fun redoing the game
read the readme!!! If a file says it wants to be read, read it!
Please notice me of any important, unnoticed bugs, and specially any softlocks! I know Void 1 can cause a few crashes, so please play that one carefully. Also notice me of any grammar mistakes! I know I’m not perfect at english, nor good…
There are only two support lines that cause a paired ending: Eirika/Seth and Eirika/L’arachel. The two only romances. But Eirika/Seth’s support lines are missing… Lesbians win this time.
Character endings occur on only one of the three endings (you don’t have to do anything special to unlock the endings)
I’ve finished playing the game (not posting my endgame units, i’m lazy) and i have to admit that the game was an amazing experience, a good balance between comedy and seriousness, neat gimmicks in each chapter, the character interactions are funny, and i love the way you need to beat the final chapter. I’m waiting for a possible future update to see the supports between the rest of the cast, but otherwise 10/10 hackrom, it was truly a fire emblem moment
Ahh thanks for the supports heads up, I am one those no 1 reason I play is supports. But I actually never heard of this game so I’m excited to play the remake or “Re Release” it seems like a fun concept of having like a Fe all stars game
Changed some music usage related to Future Elibe: its player phase music during the earlier maps (chapters 4-8) is now changed.
Some of the mid-lategame loot got redistributed.
Fixed an unintended speed buff that one of the Chapter 17’s unit recieved (which made her way stronger than intended! She’s still quite strong).
Fixed some palettes and class errors regarding some of the endgame units.
Added five new supports, and finished the two that were unfinished.
Polished up dialogue from the first two chapters.
Mark and Nergal’s Game Over conditions are now told at the start of chapter 1.
Added more zany effects on the last map of part four.
The meat of the patch is the aesthetics update. The main colour is replaced from royal blue to a dark violet to asphyxiate you with that retrowave vibe. Note that the fourth window colour is the original blue, if you don’t like purple (RIP gray window colour)
You should be able to patch over the game, and retain your original save… I think.
I’m so happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed it! It’s an honour to do a Fire Emblem moment. I was so excited for the final chapter, too: it was the intended way to end the story, but I couldn’t do it in the 2021 version due to the patches used…
Also, you finished the game too quickly! You didn’t get to experience the Purple Update! :c
Is that so? I gotta be honest, chief: I thought noone cared about supports. I certainly don’t, but I might be in the minority. But I’m glad I added them: they’re fun to write. Don’t expect too much (0-2 per unit, and 3+ for the important ones (or the ones I like)), or them coming quickly. But I promise you I’ll do my best to make them as deranged as possible
I do tend to spend too much time playing games when i shouldn’t be (college is going to beat my ass next month lol) but i’ll be looking forward to playing this some other time (my netbook died, rip)
Is chapter 7 supposed to feel nearly impossible? There is not enough time for me to get close to the end before Nergal gets killed. Even with full HP, the two Pegasus knights who reach him simultaneously just outright kill him.
To beat the map I had to hard rush towards Riev. Sacrificing units as I went. I was just barely able to bait one the peg knights before it got too far and I was screwed. I had no time to visit the shop/armoury, and I certainly had no time to recruit Sue. I hope that doesn’t screw me over in the future.
I had the same issues, ch 7 is really a hard nut to break, i managed to save nergal by positioning my units to draw the attention of the pegasus reinforcements (and save scumming a lot)
Woah. No, it wasn’t meant to be that difficult. It’s the end of Part 1, so it’s meant to be a bit hard, but not as rough as you’d describe (I thought chapter 5 was gonna be harder). Congrats on clearing that! It must’ve been hell.
So here’s a patch to ease chapter 7’s difficulty. There are stuff to do in that chapter so it’s best to be more lenient with the timing. This patch also eases the early chapters a bit more, specially for Difficult mode. I’m not nerfing the chapter’s enemies (except making the pegasi appear later): I’m giving you more options to handle them, and a way to save Nergal that doesn’t require a mass sacrifice.
Chapter Changes (Tried to be as spoiler-free as possible)
Chapter 1:
Removed a legacy, droppable Iron Axe that’s now useless
Chapter 2:
Changed second wave’s AI and positions to be less aggressive.
Chapter 3:
Moved back the Hand Axe enemy, to make the first turn more lenient.
Removed the stealable Speedwing.
Chapter 4:
Removed the stealable Energy Ring.
The mage in the “villager” part of the map now moves.
Fixed a bug in which its end event used the sepia palette.
Chapter 5:
The Witness now has a droppable Energy Ring
Chapter 7:
Pushed back initial enemy placement.
Made initial enemy’s AI more aggressive (to help with the timing).
Added an event to warp an unit to Mark’s side!
Delayed the Pegasi reinforcement
Jose now appears at the start of the first turn, instead of in the preparations screen (FE6 style, like with Douglas or Larum). This means you get one more unit.
Chapter 16:
Fixed a mistake in which you get two Afa’s drops. Replaced the one from the chest with a Speedwing.
Chapter 23:
Added a secret event, and the ending to the House debate.
Character Changes (Can’t stay Spoiler-Free in this one!)
Character Changes
Leila now has Wind affinity
Now Mark and Merlinus’ support conversations must be sequential, and in order: that is, if you missed the C talk, you won’t get the B nor the A conversations.
Nino now starts with a vulnerary.
Added 4* completed supports, and added 3 partial ones.
Thank you for the feedback! I’m about to go on a vacation, so it was perfect timing (send that message literally one day later, and I wouldn’t have been able to fix the chapter) If you find more bullshit chapters, let me know.
Chapter 7-10 spoilers
You miss another unit, besides Sue. A rally bot, at that!
Good evening! The Sacred Stones is finally playable on the Nintendo Switch: go play it! It’s an amazing game, and I totally don’t say this because you need to play it to play this game…
In other news, this is the last content update for Emulation Theory. Perhaps forever. Finally, after 7 or so years, the game’s complete!
Patch notes!
Finished the supports! The support list on previous patches wasn’t final: some potential pairs were deleted.
The final number is a clean 30* supports. A number I’m very happy about. The last patch displayed more, but gun to my head, I cannot come up with some of the supports I once intended to add.
Added several optional conversations throughout the game. Small fluff interactions between the characters. The readme has them all, if you want to know them, but you’re not intended to get them all in one playthrough (it’s not worth deploying underleveled units just to read these)
Added secret events! Conversations that give you certain things if you deploy units under certain conditions. These events can only be unlocked on certain parts of the game, on any of the maps on that part. The readme has a guide on how to unlock them all, if you wish so. Again, you’re not supposed to get them all in one playthrough. Note that on already started runs (Chapter 23+), one secret event will not work.
Spoiler warning for the next changes!
Renamed chapter 22 and 23.
Added Difficult Mode changes to chapter 20 and 22
Added a reminder that you can turn animations back ON after it was told to disable them.
Now the thief at Chapter 11 properly escapes after getting the loot.
The green unit at Chapter 7 now is half as aggressive as before.
Added more status effects to the later chapters of the game (some exclusive to Difficult mode), and a buyable Restore staff to counteract them
Merlinus now has an ending!
Tethys’ prowess skill is now Celerity
Replaced Nomad Trooper’s level 10 ability from Canter + to Acrobat
The Prowess skills are now obtained at level 17, instead of 20 like before!
Added the Basilikos and the Rex Hasta, FE7’s weird S-rank weapons
Fixed an unintended interaction at the end of chapter 21
Removed vanilla character endings for certain units that achieved an A-Support. Only Eirika-Seth and Eirika-L’arachel remain, as it was intended
Fixed a bug that auto-recruited Dorcas and Rennac in Chapter 4 as level 0 with no items if they weren’t recruited in the previous chapter
Fixed the small tiny issue that the reward for chapter 20’s side quest literally did not existed (whoops)
Is the game done for good?
Of course, I’ll be fixing any gameplay issues and bugs and all those stuff that I missed. But I will not be adding any more conversations, extra gameplay stuff, supports, etc… Even though I wanted to write some key supports, if I let that door open I might never finish this stupid game any time soon, and I want to move on. I love how the game ended up, but this was a massive time sink.
Thanks to everyone that played and enjoyed it! Please, give me your feedback! It’ll the only way I’ll change this hack, so any rough spots will remain untouched if not noticed. Have a good day!
There’s nothing there worth replaying the whole game just to see, if you’re doing it because of that. In fact, I believe that it’s not worth the restart even if you had the patch pre- Purple Update. But that’s up to you!
What a fun hack i was really drawn to it for it’s 4th wall breaking gimmick and “glitch maps” idea loved all of the unique map objectives and the last stretch where SPOILERS demanded you to intervene was so cool
I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed it! Any comments on the gameplay/balance? I feel it’s the least polished part, and I hope there’s not an overpowered unit that trivialises the game (<- clueless)
