Astram uses Gordin’s death quote if killed as an enemy.
The Wooden Cavalry’s boss’s “oh shit they’re getting too close” dialogue happens even after he’s dead.
I do like the music choice on that map, though. Really fun map.
Wow, that fight with Jiol was surprisingly epic. Aether proc came in clutch.
Holding off on the desert chapter until after Star and Savior? Interesting. This really does make more sense, though.
Playing through Savior of Altea, I think the reinforcements come in too early. I may just be bad, but I think there’s just too many reinforcements to get to the Samson/Arran villages early. They’re also just not threatening enough when you can throw Hardin/Kain on the bridge and keep them on lock, but they’re also walking anti-air.
I think Parthia gives the paragon bonus as long as it’s in the inventory. I haven’t tested it fully, though. Is this intentional?
I just wanted the squad to be able to get out of prison, because it always sucked getting five brand new units and not being able to use them at ALL, basically. And thought having Kirin show up would be a fun little easter egg. I was planning on having him kind of be an Anna-esque character in my hacks lol But yeah, I might change it to either them smuggling some stuff in, or an enemy turning and letting them out. Would need to workshop it.
Ope. I guess I forgot that you’d actually potentially be able to snipe at him from afar with Jake and potentially Tomas.
I do believe that is the first time that has ever been said about The Wooden Cavalry, so I’ll take that as the highest of compliments lol
It never made sense to me why they would be on Altea’s doorstep and then just randomly detour to the northern desert. I understand wanting to retrieve the Falchion but I think it just makes more sense to reclaim Altea first. Plus this means Marth promotes a chapter earlier. (Well, he promotes like a bajillion chapters earlier because he never promoted in his other games, but you get what I mean lol)
I pushed them back by a few turns and gave each of them an extra level or two.
That’s odd, let me know when you’ve tested it more fully, because according to the item editor in builder, it should only be when it’s equipped.
Did you mean Jeorge’s death quote? There’s a lot of weirdness I found surrounding Astram that I honestly have no idea how it happened.
For one, he has two death quotes? Not even one for when he’s an enemy and one for when he’s an ally, just…in the death quote list he has two. Why? Could not even begin to tell you. One of them is his actual death quote, and the other was Jeorge’s??? So if you’re getting Gordin’s, there’s some very strange stuff going on lol
Another weirdness I found was that his quote at the beginning of the chapter for some reason has Camus’s portrait? I do not remember doing that, and nobody else has pointed it out lmao
There’s some weird shit happening with this game and I don’t understand why lol
It is Jeorge’s death quote being used for Astram, oops
Okay good, glad it’s not THAT messed up lol
I liked Kirin’s scene with the Metis Tome, but mid-story is too much, I think.
I think it might be worth reassigning all the death quotes manually, because they’re pretty commonly bugged. I think I got Gazzack’s death quote on Jeorge somehow.
Speaking of the Metis Tome, I’ve been looking around through patches, and I’ve found a way to make the Starsphere’s growth buffs work. Unfortunately, it’s not applicable will skillsys. . .
Same with FE3 manaketes.
Yeah, unfortunate, but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal for the starsphere to not buff growths. FE3 manaketes would be awesome, but if it means redoing the entire game for it, eh haha
Btw, you can add Thracia trading really easily in a patch.
Yeah, but I think Thracia trading makes things too easy sometimes. I’d rather keep the vanilla trading
You know, considering Imhulu’s immunity being calculated with defensive boosts, I question giving Hardin’s sword Luna. I’m pretty sure it’s theoretically possible for Hardin to kill Gharnef, if he just gets lucky enough.
Yep, Hardin can kill Gharnef through Imhulu. And if he can do that, so can Aether Marth. Imhulu needs Nihil, I think.
Also, Athena has a tendency to die. I don’t she can dodgetank well enough to survive the enemies near her consistently.
I think Est needs a buff. As it is, I can’t even confidently say her growths are the best in the Whitewings. That plus her godawful weapon level means she’s just. . . abysmal.
I puzzled out how to deal with Imhulu.
Give Gharnef Pavise and Aegis as personal/class skills, and have Imhulu give 100% skill. Then, remove Nihil from the Seraph Knight class (perhaps replace with the crit immunity skill?) and give it to Starlight. Thus, only Starlight can pierce Gharnef. As a consequence, Gharnef’s crit rate will be dramatically increased, but Imhulu will function as in the original game and the Coyote Blade and Aether won’t need to be reworked.
There’s a whole event in the final Gharnef chapter that makes it so that Starlight won’t need Nihil in order for this to work (basically I have Starlight dispell Imhullu’s protective magic, and then Gharnef in that chapter doesn’t have the protection effect, and I don’t want to rewrite the whole chapter intro to get rid of that.
But I like your idea of giving Gharnef the protective skills. What I ended up doing is giving Imhullu the Great Shield skill, and giving Gharnef the personal skill that sets skill activation rates to 100%. I got rid of Nihil on Marth and Caeda.
I’ll definitely buff her a bit. And maybe buff her weapon haha.
This is just how Est is even in vanilla lol It’s funny that she spawned an archetype when she’s just…not very good lol

This is true in Fe11, but in FE1 and FE3, she has 70% growths across the board and isn’t far from using the Regalia. Heck, Fe3 Est effectively has 100% growth rates, since she really wants Mercurius for Paragon and Starsphere to not break Mercurius.
70 in all but hp, luck, and def which is 50, 60, and 20 respectfully. The weakest version is her Gaiden appearance which is much worse than her Shadow Dragon iteration.
It’s a bit strange that Cord’s bases, growths, and axe rank were raised, while Bord’s growths were lowered. Now there’s pretty much no reason to use Bord over the other two. I know he has a slightly higher weapon rank but it doesn’t make up for his overall much lower stats.
If his bases could at least be raised to around the same level as Cord I think it would make him stand out a bit better in the earlygame, and if he was given lopsided growths similar to his FE1/3 self (50% strength and defense, but only 10% speed) I think it would make him quite interesting as essentially a higher move armor knight. Right now he has all the stat detriments of his appearances in the series without any of the strong spots he typically has.
Looking at his magic growth makes me think he’ll have some sort of secret event but I have no idea if he does, so that’s how I would try to make him stand out from the beginning.
I might give more balance suggestions as I play through the game but so far I like the changes you’ve made (especially with Cain’s stats) and think it’s a really neat project.
I was gonna say, yeah there’s definitely a reason to use Bord
I’ll look into trying to make him stand out from the beginning though. Maybe actually give him a magic base to really tip the player off that oh, something’s up here.
If you want to know exactly what it is: in Oasis of Magic if you get him to the upper right village, near where Athena spawns, you have the option to reclass him into a Dark Mage. He also gets a prf tome that does physical damage at one range and magic at 2 range.
I found a small bug when playing through chapter 11. I killed all enemies besides the boss, which caused the normal map theme to cut out. Enemy phase music and combat music still works, just not the map theme (probably because it tried to switch to a victory theme that wasn’t set? I’m not too experienced with hacking but that’s my guess.)
That aside, things have been very, very good so far. I really like that typically obsolete characters like Roger, Caesar, and Radd get personal skills to help them stand out more. Even if they’re worse than Ogma and Navarre, they have a reason that you might use them (and in the case of Caesar, I did end up actually picking him because of the skill!).
I also really like what you did with Maria, though it feels like there’s less of a reason to promote clerics in this hack than Shadow Dragon because of their new ability to mount making the movement boost feel less necessary. At the same time though, promoting Lena gives more warp range, and promoting Maria will let her use paragon to its full potential so I’ll need to play more to make up my mind on whether I think clerics are fine where they’re at.
It also looks like Minerva is an unpromoted unit now? I think it’s a fun change but that she might need slightly lower speed/defense to balance the fact that she has better growths and can get promotion bonuses now.
I was gonna say, yeah there’s definitely a reason to use Bord
Now I feel bad for not resetting when I got him killed.
I can’t really test how good the secret class change is because of that, but yeah I think a magic base and maybe a bit more defense would let him have an interesting niche of having decent mixed bulk while using magic to attack.
Ahh, that bug has been reported, and I just fixed it. I’m working on something pretty big for the next release so it’ll be a while before another patch is uploaded, but I’m working on it!
I think that’s fine, though, as there usually isn’t much point in promoting healers anyway. They’re almost never going to be good combat units unless they have an insane magic growth. If you want a magical combat unit with staff utility, you’re better off promoting a mage. (or using Wendell, in this game’s case lol)
Good call. I lowered her bases just a bit.

Ah, sorry. I should’ve checked if someone already reported that bug. I’m looking forward to the next release!
