Hey! I’ve just stumbled into this thread, and I really dig the concept. Recruitable bosses is a fun idea, as Fates proved with its capture system. I hadn’t revisited FE7 in many years. This will be a great opportunity to do so with a fun spin.
The reason I’m replying to this older post is that I ran into a similar problem. Carjiga refused to join when Lyn talked to him. I poked around a bit with FEBuilder, and I found what the problem was. Everything is set correctly for Carjiga to join the team permanently. It’s just the talk event that is all wrong.
So for all Carjiga fans out there, all… two of us, here is how you fix Carjiga. Keep in mind, I have very limited knowledge of FEBuilder. This is probably very simple for experienced hackers, but for anyone who isn’t, like myself, I’ll go over the whole process step-by-step.
- Open the hack on FEBuilder. On the “simple menu” screen that appears by default, select chapter 4.
- On the right side, there’ll be a list of events. Scroll down until you find talk events. There’ll be four of them. Double click the one with Carjiga’s beautiful minimug on it.
- Click on the underscored event button.
- Double click on “Change of unit affiliation(CUSI)”. Change the Unit value to 94 (Carjiga).
- Double click on “Flag ON Flag”. Change the value to Flag 96.
OPTIONAL. Copy paste the “Flag ON Flag” event, and change the copy’s value to Flag 2. This will make the chapter end scene change appropriately if you recruit Carjiga.
Back on the events list, you can also remove the fourth talk event, from Lyn to a random faceless bandit. I’m pretty sure it does nothing, but I removed it just in case.EDIT: If you kill Carjiga before he summons reinforcements, a generic brigand appears in his place to call them in. This event was supposed to make this generic recruitable, but it’s glitched. It should make no difference if it’s erased or not.
And there you go! Carjiga should now join the team without any issues and remain on the team in the subsequent chapters.

Hey another question. Does the bosses Cameron and Maxime both have default battle quote and death quote? Because both of these bosses don’t have thoses in regular Blazing Blade.
I don’t think they received battle quotes, but they did receive death quotes

Hi @ArcherBias here a interesting question for you. Not related to this rom hack but still related to the FE7 bosses. Have you ever thought about doing a FE6 rom hack but carried over some of FE7 bosses to Binding Blade and make them playable?
