FE6xna First Public Release

Damn, the arena guy wasn’t lying when he said it was bullshit. I threw in Lot for fun and he immediately died to a iron sword myrmidon with a 3% crit. Gotta love Fire Emblem.

Just started this, and I love it! And who wouldn’t love FE6 but better?

Also I was wondering which new classes are unplayable? Like are some classes like Phalanx and Zweihander enemy-only?

Those two (although they are statistically worse than the playable armor knights, which have 2 weapons), crossbowmen, and witches I believe.

This may change in the future should I decide to add bonus content in the form of trial maps, but don’t count on that as I have currently have no plans for any of those.

Another question, is the cap on supports 5 per unit like the vanilla GBA FE games?

Just wanted to post here- I’m on Ch 8 and I’m really liking this game! I was never a huge fan of vanilla FE6 (don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it- it just didn’t stand out like some of the other titles did.)

But this project… To me, this is what FE6 should’ve been. I know I’m saying a lot considering I’m still in the first arc, but everything I’ve seen so far has been great. New weapons, tweaked weapons (axes are no longer garbage!), new classes (this is honestly the first time I’ve ever used Saul, and I’ve done FE6 at least 5 full times (counting mods of FE6 like Project Ember.) Enemies are way more diverse now, and while FE6’s gameplay was never boring or repetitive to me, it feels fresh and original now.

But my favorite thing by far is the added dialogue/story content. I know it’s not a huge thing, but FE7 has a special place in my heart and the references to it make me smile every time! This was one issue I always wanted to see in vanilla FE6 but new wasn’t possible (for obvious reasons.) Being the game that introduced me to the series. Hard to think it’s been almost 20 years…

Random note, but Erik’s expanded death quote is probably my favorite bit of altered dialogue so far.

Also, the new dialogue that isn’t related to FE7 is gold- Roy feels much more fleshed out, whereas he felt like a fairly static character in vanilla FE6 (my personal opinion, others might/are welcome to think differently.)

I’ll add more at some other time, but that’s all for now.

Adding to this- I forgot to mention that the added music tracks are a nice touch.

Fighting Leygance now to Rise to the Challenge, which brings back many good FE7 memories. Also, Leygance is still ultimately a minor character but at least here he feels more fleshed out than the one-dimensional ‘bad guy’ he was in vanilla.

Yeah Leygance I felt was a character that was criminally underdeveloped, despite having a major role in the story as the leader of the rebellion. I did embellish a bit, but given the dialogue he and Devias have in the original, it seems clear they’re only doing this because they think Bern is the only way for Lycia’s survival. They don’t appear to have ill will towards Hector nor seem to be trying to grab at power like Rude was in chapter 2.

Is it a bug or an as-of-yet unimplemented feature that Bors and Barthe’s secondary weapons (swords and axes) don’t have animations?

Only posting this here because I haven’t seen if it’s been posted earlier.

Graphics were low on my priority list, so no that’s not a bug and yes it’s known.

Dumb question, but what does WTD stand for? I’ve seen some skills referencing it, but I’m not sure exactly what it is.

Sharing my thoughts again- just finished the Western Isles arc, and I enjoyed the changes made. I’m guessing Scott, Nora, and Oro received more dialogue so as to be slightly more than the one-dimensional villains they were in Vanilla?

Also, wasn’t expecting the portrait changes to Scott and Nora (Nord to Nora was an unexpected but much-appreciated move). I do like the idea that there’s at least one more female boss in the game. It always struck me as kind of weird that like 95% of the bosses in the FE GBA games (and the non-GBA games, now that I think about it) were all dudes, so this was a welcome change.

Don’t have as much to say for Oro, but your project made him a lot of fun to fight. You took one of FE6’s better villains and expanded on what made him memorable in the first place. Fighting him with Saul (even though he couldn’t do more than chip damage) was rewarding.

Characterization for the bosses aside, the small map changes (like there being breakable walls on CH 12) was also something much appreciated. CH 12 was one of the more tedious ones in Vanilla, and the breakable walls make it much easier to get through.

Also appreciated the improved variety to the enemies on the maps. Though that poison-staff witch on CH 12 was a pain in the butt- she got off at least five uses of her staff before I got to her with Dieck.

Chapter 15 complete. RIP nameless Valkyrie, you will be missed. That much screentime seemed almost worth a name/portrait of her own.

I just think generics need some personality, that’s all

In Klein’s chapter do you still need to keep all the green units alive to receive the promotion items?

Yes, that is correct.

So I just got to chapter 15 and every time I try to talk to Percival the game crashes. I tried about 10 times in row now, talking to him at the beginning of the turn, at the end of the turn and also after and before killing a enemy unit
Every single time it crashes before the conversation begins so I can’t even skip it. Is this a known bug or what?
