Your lord, Roy. Your Jagen, Vander. and every character follows this idea. i hope to make the game feel like an exploration of the capacity that bad units have in an easier game or better position. when your forced to rely on the worst of the worst will they succed or fall short. This is mostly just to learn the engine for a far more advanced version of this thats far more ambitious.
Welcome to FEU, new user AutisticJesus!
We look forward to your contributions.
Just to clarify, are you asking other users to suggest units for this hack of yours, which will exclusively feature the āworstā Fire Emblem units from across all the games?
If you want the weakest Jagen I would say thatās still FE12 Arran, but Vanderās not a bad choice for the spot either. Same with Roy for lords, I still think thereās at least one weaker lord with Lyn, debatably Eliwood too, but heās not the strangest choice at least.
I think one thing to watch out for is how some characters are weaker, yes, but their games are so differently structured that being weak there is going to be really strong somewhere else. Noish and Alec, for example, come to mind as one of the weakest Cain/Abel duos, but in FE8 would be exceptionally good replacing the better Kyle and Forde due to high bases and great defensive growths.
So really just any game with higher stats overall youāll see the units thrive, while units coming in from lower-stat games will struggle. I think such a project would require you to find a way to compensate for this for more interesting results.
Just so youāre aware, there are already at least two hacks with this exact premise, one for FE6 and one for FE8.
You can, of course, still make your own interpretation!
Note that you will need to take some liberties with some unit ports, because a unit from a stat inflation game will utterly demolish anything resembling vanilla GBA.
oh hey look my hack
You can, you just gotta place them late enough/underleveled enough/pick a specially terrible unit/pick something with a downside stats canāt fix/make the niches of the lesser stated units really matter. But yeah itās absolutely tricky. Some examples of each in embad that I actually think I executed decently (I had my misses):
-Sayāri is just a big stats gotoh.
-Nyx joins in midgame and sucks ass to train despite massive mag and speed growths due to being frail and having bad bad hitrates.
-Fiona is just bad enough in RD sheās perfectly fine in embad.
-Fe10 Leonardo and Wolt may have pretty big offenses, but 2 range lock prevents them from breaking things.
-Fe4 Jeanneās growths are terrible, but she does hace big hp and is your one early game mounted staffer.
I would actually say that itās harder to manage units from deflated games like gaiden, you have to really scratch your head if you wanna place any after earlygame.
Fire Mehblem (I think that was the title) also comes to mind
Why vander and not gunter, like sure, maybe vander sucks, but he can still do something, gunter will forever suck no matter what you do with him
Gunter can at least be a pair-up bot with Forceful Partner, no?
True but if he were in fe8, he would lose that, which would make him the worst jagen for it, also ngl i think micaiah would much better lord as the worst lord than roy( roy could be eph) sure she has magic and weapon triangle the mogall, but really think about it, first being a lord she doesnāt get the one thing most light magic users in magvel need to be good, that being slayer, second in rd, strenght was userās con, so if were to transfer that in fe8, she would have 2 con, in rd you could fix that since you can level str, but in fe8, you canāt level str, so unless you put body rings into here, base micaiah would be weighted down by 4 points from the weakest tome she can use( rd thani is 1 weight, but lets use its engage weight of 6 to really hone in on her noodle arms), no slayer, slow as fuck and light still being the worst magic type in fe8, yeah miccy should deffo be the lord, i also nominate lynhardt to be moulder, not because heās bad, i just find him ugly and hate him very much, so he belongs in the trash can
By that logic, every character in this hack should be from fe1-3 because their stats are lower than those of modern units. The point of an ābad units from across the series transplanted into X gameā hack, IMO, is to see how changing the game and context those units are in affects how well they perform.
I mean, base fe8 doesnāt have skill, so like gunther wouldnāt have the ability to actually support the lord
I tried putting Kliff (fe2) onto Artur (I think) in fe8 embad and it just did not work out at all. So itād probably have to be like first chapter second chapter type recruitment.
(His problem was that he did too little damage w fire and didnāt double w aura)
Meanwhile he joined w Miranda who could actually do damage and kill things.
