Duty Calls - [COMPLETE] 25 Chapter Hack

Hello, after learning from the mistakes of my previous hack, I finally come to you with my best project yet, complete with 25 chapters, playable from beginning to end. If you’d like to give it a go, you can find some key features, as well as the download link below.

Story

When a horde of monsters emerges, ravaging the kingdom, Angus - an exiled general with a dark past - is called back to serve. Bound by duty yet haunted by regret, he must confront the sins he sought to hide from his new family. Meanwhile, Harold, a young lordling, fights to untangle webs of deceit and betrayal, uncovering truths that could save - or doom - the realm. Together, they face impossible choices, where honour, family, and loyalty are at odds in a land on the brink of war.

Key Features

  • Every character has a custom portrait made exclusively for this hack (not F2U)

  • Each promoted class has one class skill, each coming with its own animation!

  • FE6 hit rates! Wait, what?! Umm… ignore you saw that (it works, I promise).

  • Many custom classes and animations courtesy of the very talented people on the repo

More Screenshots

Other notable features
  • A soundtrack with music from various game series
  • Play on normal, hard, or lunatic difficulty
  • Choose between random, fixed, and 0% growths
  • An in-game guide that explains unique mechanics, how to recruit every character, etc
  • QOL features such as HP bars, visible growth rates, and detailed minimug boxes

A credits document is also included in the download link. Also, note that the current version is not the final version - only some support conversations and paired endings are in the game as of now. I intend to add them in over time along with any bugfixes that may arise, as supports are a huge task in and of themselves. As always, feedback is much appreciated. Enjoy!

Oh wait, I remember Angus.

This hack was pretty good back then when I first played it, now I get to know what happens after that cliffhanger.

I’m pretty sure there’s already a hack called duty calls?
Edit: Ah, my bad, it’s your hack
You should merge the two posts, though

I don’t. Do you (or any of you guys) know what is the other game Jack made? I’m interested on it.

@Spring and @LewynCollins, there is no other hack, he is referring to the demo version of this hack that I released a while back.

This is now the complete version, and the demo page will no longer be used. If the mods wish to close the old thread, they are welcome to.

Aaaah, I get it. The game looks fine to me, by the way. The main character being a literal Jagen (for now) is interesting, to say the least.

I’m now in chapter 2, and I was wondering if you maybe, just maybe, liked axes a little bit? You know, just a feeling

@Jack_G found a bug! In chapter 3, the only deployed character is Angus for no reason. And the turn doesn’t end automatically after moving him, so the game softlocks.

Well, technically you can pinpount where the other characters should be by using the units menu, but they are not really there. I’m using mGBA.

That’s… odd, I’ve never seen this happen before, and I used mGBA as the main emulator for testing. What difficulty are you playing on, and have any of your units died so far?

I’ll look into this tomorrow, and release a fix as soon as possible. A temporary fix you could try for now: try reloading and skipping the opening cutscenes.

Hard mode and nobody died yet. I should have mentioned this, but I did try to reloading and skipping the opening cutscenes. Didn’t work.

Cool!

Thanks again for reporting this major bug. This should be fixed now, and I have uploaded a new patch. Unfortunately, you must replay chapter 2, as the required fix was actually at the end of chapter 2 rather than the beginning of chapter 3. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Will there be any major change or fixes comming in the future. Or Am I good to play now?

Did you made all of these unique character portraits?

Support conversations are the only thing that is not yet 100% complete. I intend to add more support conversations in over time, until they are all in. At the moment, around 20% or so are in, with the other supports only giving the stat boost, but without the conversation. If you are really invested in the support conversations, you can wait, but otherwise, I would recommend playing now.

I will wait for all the support to be added. Please notify me when all the support conversation is added. I find the support Conversation add alot to my love of the story

Did you make all the unique portraits in this hack?

Alright, I will let you know - I expect it will take me around a month or so.

As for the portraits, yes, all were made by me, even minor bosses.

You are Awesome

Damn, really? From a 20% to a 100% in a month? That’s amazing. I’ll wait for that then.

Awesome, a new complete hack! Looking forward to playing this!

Just to let people know, I’ve updated the patch to fix the following bugs:

  • One where skipping the opening scene of chapter 16 would glitch the game
  • One where some scenes would have a buggy transition when skipped rather than a smooth fade
  • Durban’s bugged hero palette

3 of the remaining support pairings have also been included.
