It’s election week! The will of the people will determine who gets broken Heroes alts.

Fire Emblem Heroes - Choose Your Legends: Round 8

Last time, the people were distracted by a sexy snake. Engage is now on the ballot: will it make a big splash, or will it just fly under the radar? For what it’s worth, the emblems do not split the vote: Sigurd, Leaf, and MByleth in base game and FE3 Chiki in DLC are the beneficiaries.
My vote targets are the same as usual: one to Sigurd for Brave Hero contention, and the rest to SNES FE absentees.

Certainly I’d like to see a substitute before end of service, but I have absolutely no faith they’ll actually turn up. Hence, canvassing. I’ve also drawn up a chart for top characters aiming for number 1. No Paint graphics here.

Fodlan towers over the competiton. Sigurd has the highest tally of the pre-Awakening games, while Elincia has the most votes of the pre-Awakening women. All will be revealed soon.

An attempt will be made to bot Desmond into contention.

I’ll be honest, Alfonse voter here - I don’t see him winning.

I honestly expect him to land somewhere across 3rd to 5th place, as I don’t think that neither he’ll gain enough votes to get in top 2, nor his competition will fall hard enough for him to easily overtake opponents.

On the subside, I wager that the female side of CYL is going to be Engage-swept (even if I do consider Ivy/Yunaka to be more likely to appear on top than Alear), but whether or not Bernadetta eats third place, that’s something I’m still unsure to say whether or not she gets taken down.

The remakes do make things slightly awkward, but I decided to just stick him on the poster anyway. I figured it would be more awkward to ignore the remake people. For what it’s worth, if you ignore remake-only characters Raddy (267th, 175 votes) would be number 3. Berkut’s present as the top Gaiden character despite only being in SoV as well.

There’s definitely no clear-cut guaranteed winners this time around. I wouldn’t be willing to put money on anyone - Engage’s nature as the newest game is naturally going to disrupt things. I felt Engage just came and went, but I am more than willing to accept I just don’t hang around the right parts of the broader FE community. Certainly I’d be surprised if there was no Engage, but I don’t see a complete sweep.

I’m surprised Felix doesn’t appear to have dropped like a rock; he’s in the game now. Otherwise, nothing too shocking for the top characters: a lot of Engage units are here due to recency bias, and typical CYL high-rankers still pop up in the gaps. No sign of Alear at all is a bit unusual: people usually toss plenty of votes at the avatar. Of course, this is all just speculation and there’s six days of voting left. While I’m here…

I’ve cast my Sigurd vote, so unless Leaf surges ahead in the mid-terms, it’s Kaga absentee time for me. Lana’s a staple on my CYL ballots because she’s from FE4, I always pair her with Celice, and Kaga has made me a bit obsessed with playing matchmaker. Also, Lana’s the last playable Gen 2 girl to get in, not counting substitutes. Maybe she’ll turn up in 2026? Assuming the game’s still in service then, anyway.

Choose Your Legends Round 8 interim results for Hero Ranking by Title

Overall, a fair amount of Engage isn’t surprising due to new game bias, Sigurd and Leaf both being in the top twenty means the Jugdral vote is split, the persistent TMS neglect is still resulting in its main characters showing up in the top 20s, and a few of the pre-Awakening CYL staples are still present.
Meanwhile, I’ll just vote for Oifaye instead. He’s probably the most prominent FE4 playable character
not in the game right now. Manfloy’s up there in terms of full game importance too.

Dawn of the final day. Jugdral units a plenty. One for Sigurd in the hope that he wins, and the rest to various Jugdral absentees for various reasons. Lana because Jugdral brings out the shipper in me and I always pair her and Celice, Oifaye’s probably the most prominent playable FE4 character still absent, Linoan’s probably the most prominent FE5 character still absent, Mana’s the substitute vote to try to get IS to acknowledge them, Dagda’s another FE5 guy who should have been added long ago, and me and a friend used our final votes on Radney as part of a joke.

Soon, the results will be decided, and we’ll all find out how (in)accurate our predictions are. May the most popular character win.
