Thank you for the encouraging words! I definitely am hoping that the second time around it’ll look even better and am keeping a more positive outlook on it when I can.
That’s unfortunate. I’d personally blame windows for it bein’ a poorly built slockfest. Also, something of this caliber ought to need a hand or two, especially for events and the like, it is an accomplishment you kept it up for that long. I’d be glad to help in any way I can.
Anyways, take care of yourself!
whaaaaa?
Ah, well, I kind of blame my laptop for being a bit too “quirky” some days. Since I don’t want to risk more work being lost or anything, I’ll probably wait until I’ve got a new laptop to start working on the magazine again, so in the meantime I’ll probably be working on some kinda application or test for people who want to be a co-leader/creator.
This is an incredibly impressive endeavour and switching to a bimonthly schedule would be perfectly reasonable. Keep on with the creative flow and pace that works for you ![]()
I have a plan forming out that might involve 3 smaller issues followed by one larger one. Still tooling it, but I think a schedule like that would do wonders to alleviate my anxiety workload, even if it means less people are featured a month.
Take it at whatever pace is reasonable to keep up for you and the team. I love the fact this fan magazine concept even exists in the first place and you make it at such a high quality too.
Looking forward to what’s coming up next!
I’m very sorry for you Lily that you lose your files ! It’s such an horrible situation especially when you can’t find how it happened ![]()
And you are fully right to prioritize your mental health ! don’t put pressure on yourself we will still be here for the next awesome Archanea Monthly no matter when it release ![]()
I can and cant wait for the next one out of pure anticipation, but yeah Lilly should prioritise her health over her work. I eagerly await the next archenea monthly…
Please don’t burn yourself out. The fading of the honeymoon phase of a new and ambitious project is something we ROMHackers are all-too-familiar with. It’s better to aim for consistency over quantity.
I just assumed there was more than one person working on this based on the quality and scope. I had no idea you were doing this all by yourself.
I like the idea of smaller issues interspersed with the occasional large issue. I think it gives each feature more of a flair.
I’m overjoyed to hear the support from everyone! In the near future I’ll be putting up a smaller issue, and in March, we’ll get a full-length hack as a headline. I’ll even go ahead and say, you’ll be seeing my own thoughts about TMGC. Since I’ll have more time though, ones like these will probably be extra long, so look forward to that!
Also in the next couple weeks I’ll post some kind of application post for a permanent spot in the Archanea Monthly staff and what that entails.
Again, thank you all for the support and kind words! I hope to be able to entertain you all soon, hopefully as an actual duo with someone else!
I locked in a lot sooner than I thought and posted that staff application post right here for anyone who wants to throw their hat in!
Actually I’ve been pretty curious, but how do yall determine which hacks to like review and stuff each entry?
It’s a bit of a combination of two or three things.
- We have a list of hacks people have submitted to be featured, so we’ll work through those.
- We’ve got a few of our own personal ones that we’ll be itching to talk about.
- And occasionally we just browse FEU and see something that really interests us and so we try it to try and give the hack a bit more traction.
Sometimes they overlap, but those are the main reasons something gets featured!
Ooo, i didn’t know you could request stuff, wonder if ya got any guidelines for that, I assume some devs have approached yall through pms and such?
Oh yeah we get both DM’s and have a form in the main post people can fill out to ask for it too.
Just for those who might feel awkward about asking to have their hacks featured XD
There’s quite a bit on the list right now, so I’ve been going about half-and-half for hacks people have requested vs ones I sought out. I think the initial burst of submissions from opening the form is good and over by now though.
There’s mostly not any guidelines either, just as long as there’s something playable mostly. Even things like games in LT, Tactile, SRPG, etc. are fair game because they come out of the community. Exceptions are even made for indie games like Stratagem Lost and Dark Deity. Why? Because I like them and I’m mad with power!
Hello. I think pages 17-18 are missing from December’s double-spread.
Oh thank you for letting me know! I thought I had fixed it a while ago but I must’ve forgotten. Thanks, I’ll make an update later!
Greetings, everyone! I’ll admit that I fully blundered and forgot that February is a short month, haha. I have to thank you all so much for being so understanding for not getting an issue for January, as, well, I wasn’t going to work a double overtime to recreate the magazine after losing it. But, uh, sorry for it still being late anyway. Life’s a hassle, and we’re working out getting another person to work with us on the magazine!
Now, what do we have in this issue? Oh boy, we’ve got a haul this month. The Infernal Blade and Cycle of Remorse are games I’ve been meaning to get to, but it was a really huge honor to be able to interview some of the team behind Dark Deity II. We hope y’all like it!
