Archanea Monthly (February 2025 Vol.5)

Embarrassingly fell asleep at my computer and both missed the new year’s ball dropping and the window to post in time. Just pretend like it was still december.

Also, apologies for how short this issue is as well

Thank you Kappa and Anna for this opportunity to have TOV featured! This really meant a lot, I hope you enjoyed the demo! Month by month, Archanea Monthly continues to get better and better!

Thank you so much for the kind words! Your demo was a blast, and was a very fun and polished little experience!

Thanks for the FE3 spotlight. Fitting to have some real Archanea stuff in there, given the name of the thing. Here’s hoping FE3 gets some more recognition this year!

I know right, it’s about time Archanea Monthly had some actual Archanea in it lol

Man that article on Milieu was a TRIP (positive) and it was cool to hear about the FE3 localization too! Looking forward to the next issue as always!

Thanksss, December was a bit more stressful just because the holidays are complicated, but I’ve already got a leg up for this month!

So the cycle starts anew for January, am I right? XD

this december entry was very cool !
I’m always fond of mercenary stories in FE so Tales of Valor really catched my eyes !

I never tried FE3 but seing the efforts of people to make a localization project really motivate me to try it ! And the milieu section was really something to says the least

Also it was very cool to have an interview with Primefusion, I remember fondly The Road to Ruin when I tried it some years ago

The interview with Primefusion is perhaps the most hype part of it for me XD

As I may have said before, there’s nothing better than reading this month’s Archanea while having a coffee before work, and with the Atlas project still being highlighted.

Hi, it’s Lily here. Not in character right now; you’re talking to real life soulless Lily who lives off of coffee, chees-its, and pizza rolls. That’s how serious this talk is.

It’s my deepest regret to inform that Archanea Monthly will officially no longer be monthly upon the project file for January 2025 just… disappearing. Not deleted; I searched my recycle bin. Not moved; I actually let my computer run a whole half-hour search on my entire system but the file wasn’t there and it didn’t create a backup. I suspect it’s an issue of my computer being old rather than a Krita thing, but the January issue seems to have settled down with a wife, family, mortgage, and six-figure job in the suburbs of Maryland or something without telling me.

Because I still have the full script and all the assets though, I am going to recreate it all and tool it into the February issue instead. While I’d love to see if I can recreate the entire magazine in 5 days, I’m looking to prioritize mental health instead. I’m deeply sorry to those who were looking forward to seeing their work featured this January. Rest assured, they’ll be on the pages of February instead.

Thank you all for hopefully understanding, but looking at my empty folder, devoid of the project file, got me thinking about something important: I need someone else to help me with the actual magazine making process and playing the games too. That’s why I’m announcing that I’ll probably be opening up some applications to be a kind of co-director, I think? Not sure about the positions. Basically, I need an Anna to help me lol. It’s all volunteer work without pay, so there’s that downside, but I’ll say more about that in the coming month. I just wanted to put it out there now.

Thank you all for reading through all of that, and thanks for the support. I’ll do my best to keep everyone posted and answer whatever questions people might have! Remember to stay bright and love each other!

Computer failures are always awful, and I’m sorry one’s struck you now. Completely understand the decision to postpone the release, it’s the only thing that makes sense given the circumstances.

Honestly – while I selfishly want More at all times, of course – a bimonthly or quarterly schedule would make a lot of sense for the scope anyway, even under normal circumstances. Archanea Monthly is a catchy name, but if the schedule ever causes serious strain, I for one would not hold a swerve against you.

I think this could spur me to get a new laptop after like 7 years  Should go look at a Costco laptop like TBA suggested lol.

I think a monthly issue is still pretty possible if I just used better scheduling and stuck to featuring mainly demos instead of playing through a more full length one in a month. I’ll be inspired to do a revamped schedule as well to stick to so I hard limit my work each month.

I’m so sorry that happened. Losing files is one of the worst feelings :sob:.

On the topic of Computers, if you’re worried about physical resilience, I cannot stop recommending a Thinkpad. They’re usually affordable laptops (under $500), and they can take a beating. And newer models are reasonably powerful.

Sorry it happned and we all understand that ones mental health comes 1st.

Honestly, just the fact that you were able to make this monthly for the first few months was impressive enough. Hell, maybe I’d end up getting worried that it would take a toll on your mental health. I’ve seen what happens to hobbyists who take on big tasks like this. The results usually aren’t pretty.

And yes, losing progress like that sucks. Though look on the bright side, sometimes the second draft ends up being better when that happens-- doesn’t make it any less annoying, but still.

All in all, feel free to work at your own pace, and if you have to make the magazine Archanea Every-Other-Monthly, I won’t hold it against you.

Though funnily enough, I haven’t actually read this yet due to my lack of home internet and limited mobile data. I should take a visit to my local library soon and use the wifi there so I can finally get around to reading it, haha. But aside from that, I wish you good tidings.

I’ll definitely look into a thinkpad, thanks for the recommendation! I think my sister has one herself, and it doesn’t sound like a bad option for me.
