Any super cool, not super plot relevant bosses you know of?

While there was a post about this a while ago, I am mostly curious about not only who you guys think is cool, but why. I’m always a huge fan of the overconfident earlygame bosses, and some are actually pretty cool when you look a bit closer!

Going first, a few of my personal faves:

Novala, Fe8 - Honestly this guy is so goofy, from being comically evil and trying to have a spider eat kids, to being so incompetent he couldn’t even do that properly, he’s just fun.

Glass, Fe7 - The so called “Greatest Swordsman”. If some lategame bosses had merely an ounce of this guys swagger, they’d be so much more fun.

Bazba, Fe8 - The quintessential bandit boss, at least in my eyes. He really FEELS like a bandit boss, in more ways than just having the marker, with you actually getting to see him organize a raid on Ide, and then fight him after.

And now, you guys! Who is your favorite unimportant baddy, and why?

Acheron from 3H. Like Novala, he’s a sniveling coward who clearly isn’t all that competent, but on harder difficulties his lackeys provide an interesting fight, and once you actually make your way to him, it’s super satisfying to beat him up.

Harmein, despite being another general, he’s memorable IMO because of his “unique” portrait (red version of Emereus/Jiol) and would’ve had a good chance at defeating Marth if Minerva didn’t turn back. It’s weird in the remakes they gave him a mustachioed design similar to the default FE1 boss portrait rather than adapted his original design. It’s funny, I think that he has more dialogue than Medeus.

kempf some of his clones are just too try hard and he also had a cool white hair, he’s a bit unimportant idk. He’s just straight up rude and relatable but his death is lame and awkward.

Ridale is the perfect example of what a bit-part boss should be. He’s the face of what Imperial officers are. A good soldier, but the Empire is so complacent and so in the cult’s thrall that, not only does he start out assigned to child-hunting, but his reaction to returning and being assigned another is boredom. He’s a shitty guy in a banal way that just says so much about the state of the Empire, and that encapsulates why the One-shot Enemy Captain is so important. The existence of such guys tells us a lot about who makes up the people in a nation, and who gets promoted in a nation. We know FE10 Begnion is fucked because ‘the beasts wish to consume me’ guy got a command; we know there’s a lot more basically decent career soldiers caught up in Grado than just the three ‘virtuous’ Gem-nerals because of guys like Aias caught up in it all; we know the Black Fang’s talk about once being noble is complete bullshit because Pascal exists.

Seems like another thing that Project Naga pulled a Nintendo Treehouse on. From my playthough, Ryddel (which is what he was called in project naga) was depicted as a man who would rather use his talents fighting battles than rounding up kids, and was implied to be going “at a leisurely pace” because it was a small show of his disdain for the child hunts (and maybe give them some time to run.)

Nichol from Fates. Originally intended to have a Corrin support chain Nichol is one of the random capturable bosses from the children paralogues, specifically Sophie’s. The thing that makes Nichol unique for me is not only that he has bases that essentially make him a side grade or second Camilla but also because unlike the very old and tired meme characters like Glass, Denning, or whoever else, Nichol makes use of his few lines to add depth to his character. He’s portrayed as cruel by the game however in his death quote.

He displays notable regret for “backing the wrong horse” as if some event making him down on his luck pushed him to be this way out of a perceived necessity but is proven wrong by his own defeat.

I’d love to have seen what supports he would have had with Corrin were they implemented into the game instead of only having empty leftover support data like Candace.

He also has a really fun design and is a wyvern, making him certifiably a based choice.

Eagler, I just think he’s neat.
He’s embodies all the most dumb Camus Archetype traits with none of the reason to do them.

  1. Needlessly stays with enemy because loyalty to country/land, but betraying is clearly better for land/country

  2. Has close relations to player units

3.Knows the enemy is doing evil shit but still fights for them

4.Looks cool

He’s so dumb he becomes cool.

You mean once I use Stride to reach him on the first turn?

I mean, I do my best to squeeze maximal XP out of every battle, especially the big ones like that, but whatever floats your boat, I guess

I’ve always loved irrelevant bosses, and it makes me so sad that they’re on their way out. Of course, characters are more expensive now than ever, what with requiring full character models and voice actors. Gone are the days when you could just paint a dude’s cape green and call it a new character. Oh, well.

I’ll bring up one that most won’t know, because it’s not even technically FE: Seamus from Berwick Saga.
seamus

He’s this really pompous brigand dude that uses big words to yap about how, after many arduous months on the road (it was only three days), his grand plan for his gang to rise from the ashes and strike fear into the hearts of all with their awesome might (taking three or four wild horses from a forest) could commence.
When the good guys arrive at the forest with… the exact same purpose, he laments that the “powers that be” conspire against him once more.
At one point his men bring in a young white foal. He whines about it being too small, and when his subordinate says “well of course, it’s just a young foal” he goes “I was just testing you.”
In confinement, it panics and begins thrashing about, and the men begin to beat it. Seamus appears and he actually chastises his men for abusing it… but then they say they were “disciplining” it out of fear that it’d hurt him. He basically goes “y-you were worried for me? I’m so happy to have such wonderful and caring subordinates!”
Oh, and if enough turns pass, he goes “I shall end this myself!” and immediately runs off the map. Incredible.

tl;dr: All of his lines are hilarious. All of them. He’s the most adorable brigand boss I’ve ever seen.

There’s this mechanic in Berwick Saga where a number of optional bosses have bounties on their heads. Seamus is the lowest bounty in the game, probably because he’s obviously just some minor troublemaker with a small gang and delusions of grandeur. Heck, his entire gang is obviously small-time - a lot of them are weak thieves armed with letter openers, of all things.
I usually try to capture him alive. Not only because you get more money that way, but I just like him too much to kill him. I like to think he turns his life around after and finally fulfills his dream to gallop among the horses.

Pascal. He’s a Hector-mode exclusive boss with a surprising amount of random backstory.

This is why i like the boss recruitment mods. Its cool playing as those fun bosses

Here are my list of favorite irrelevant bosses from each game.

Shadow Dragon.

Hyman.
IMG_7687
This guy looks like he was rip straight out of Grand Theft Auto.

Merach.
IMG_7688
And the award for the coolest looking beard in the game goes to this guy.

Sternlin.
IMG_7689
Another cool looking boss but i also like how he become temporarily leader Sable Order of Knights after Camus was punished. I just wish there was actual something more with this guy.

Gaiden/Shadows of Valentia.

Brigand Boss.
IMG_7690
I mean this guy somehow managed to get into Fire Emblem Heroes before Jedah before Nergal. What more do i need to say.

Gazelle.
IMG_7691
Another boss with a cool looking design no more nothing less.

Xaizor.
IMG_7692
Again cool looking and i like that he sort of a mini Camus archetype.

Jerome.
IMG_7693
This guy somehow managed to get Zeke (Camus) to work under him after his fiancé Tatiana is taken captive by Nuibaba. Plus he voiced by Sean Chiplock.

New Mystery of the Emblem.

Eibel.
IMG_7694
Look at this guy beard. Look at his mustache. Move over Cervantes Eibel is The Unparalled The Undefeated The Unshaven.

Nehring.
IMG_7695
Probably the most fancy looking boss so far. I honestly wish this guy was playable or the very least was more important to the plot.

Genealogy of the Holy War.

Macbeth.
image
This guy look like Ben Franklin evil twin cousin or whatever. Plus being one of the few boss who does not get their portrait reuse.

Clement.
IMG_7697
Like that this guy only became hostile when his castle is caught in a crossfire between Sigurd army and Chagall army. And for once a hooded looking man who not part of an evil cult.

Zane.
IMG_7698
Needs no introduction.

Lamia.
IMG_7699
One of the few female bosses who irrelevant to the plot. And also doesn’t have her portrait reuse.

Liza.
IMG_7700
Another female boss. Even though reused Aida portrait it a nice looking portrait i not gonna complain.

Ridale.
IMG_7701
Again nothing need to be said about this guy then what already been said.

Thracia 776.

Bucks.
image
Goofy bandit boss number 1.

Rumei.
IMG_7703
Rumei not really that bad of a guy. He was trying to do what best for his family.

Oltof.
IMG_7704
I mean if you’re a subordinate to Kempf of all people. Then you’re already cool in my book.

Paulus.
IMG_7705
Mini Camus in the house up here.

Zile.
IMG_7706
Goofy bandit boss number 2.

Coruta.
IMG_7707IMG_7708
I was surprising that this guy was actually in Genealogy. Even though he now has a completely different portrait now. But still how rare is that a minor boss show up in a later game.

Binding Blade.

Rude.
image
Rude now start a phase of making the knight bosses also goofy.

Devias.
image
Play Project Ember. Play Project Ember. Play Project Ember.

Henning.
IMG_7711
Finally we get a bandit boss that actually looks cool. Apart from being one of the most frustrating hard bosses in the whole series.

Oro.
image
I kindly wish this guy was like the Gharnef of this guy. He would have been a better as a major villain than freakin Jahn.

Scouran.
image
Goofy bandit boss number 3.

Randy.
image
Randy is like what would happen if you take Henning make him a mercenary instead add of bit Camus and there you go.

Ohtz.
image
Strange that this guy is a boss character. I thought he was just an elderly villager you come across. But hey i like it.

Raeth.
Raeth
Discount Roach.

Sigune.
IMG_7717
Yet another female boss who irrelevant to the plot.

Pereth.
IMG_7718
The cooler Ohtz.

Blazing Blade.

Glass.
IMG_7719
Come on do i need to say anything about Glass here. He literally the best boss of the whole series. And there will never be a boss like Glass again.

Bug.
IMG_0295
Goofy bandit boss number 4.

Yogi.
IMG_0296
Not to be confused with a bear known for harvesting picnic baskets. This is just one silly looking knight.

Eagler.
image
Much like Nehring i wish that Eagler was playable in Blazing Blade as well too. And also help that he pretty much the beta version of another boss i get to later.

Wire.
IMG_0298
Probably the second coolest boss design in the whole game.

Puzon.
IMG_0299
A simple yet effective boss design right here.

Bauker.
IMG_0300
Bauker is like mini version of Eagler. Just minus the whole love one being held captive part.

Damien.
IMG_0301
A much less cooler version of Wire. But still cool regardless.

Aion.
image
He just has a cool design that all i can really say.

Eubans.
image
I actually like how Eubans was mentioned earlier on Chapter 15. Fighting his mercenary band then eventually fight Eubans himself in Chapter 22. I like that.

Pascal Grentzer.
IMG_0304
I really like is that Pascal actually has a backstory. Being once a noble of Bern who strip of his title as count from Desmond. Then joined the Black Fang and even joined the Four Fangs before being imprisoned by Brandan Reed for his nonstop killing. They’re actually a lot of background with this guy despite being a one off boss character.

Kenneth.
IMG_0305
Kenneth is like what would if Wire and Oro are fused together. I was surprise that he returned on the final chapter as one of the few final bosses in there.

Sacred Stones.

Breguet.
image
That’s one cool looking armor he’s wearing. And also being one of the few bosses that actually kill somebody. I’ll be it’s just a nameless soldier from Frelia but hey it’s something.

Murray.
image
Yet being an another cool looking knight boss design.

Gheb.
IMG_0308
Enough said.

Aias.
IMG_0309
That’s one sick looking under beard you’re going there Mr Aias.

Path of Radiance.

Dakova.
IMG_0310
I don’t know about you guys but i always imagine this guy has a sort of a Patrick Warburton voice. That voice kindly fits Dakova for some reason.

Nedata.
IMG_0311
Goofy pirate boss.

Norris.
IMG_0312
This guy face reminds me of teenage i saw back at high school. I don’t know why.

Kimaarsi.
IMG_0313
That crazy that Donald Trump is in Fire Emblem.

Homasa.
IMG_0314
Stefan edgier much more cooler looking sword fighter boss.

Kasatai.
IMG_0315
Another simi Camus kind of boss here. Although i will forever question as to why he is eligible to vote for Choose Your Legends awhile Glass Wire and Oro are still not allowed to be voted for.

Rikard.
IMG_0316
Another cool knight boss but with a silly looking hair going on.

Heddwyn.
image
Heddwyn is look if Devias reclass as sage boss instead.

Radiant Dawn.

Wystan.
IMG_0318
Probably the one character that had the most punch able face in all of Fire Emblem.

Laverton.
IMG_0319
This guy earns some points for almost attempting to kill off a bunch of Marado civilians even when the Daein army surrendered to them. I like to imagine that Laverton would be a tertiary antagonist throughout all of Part 1 of Radiant Dawn.

Yeardley.
IMG_0320
Definitely a way better Crimea villain than Ludveck.

Veyona.
IMG_0321
Much like Eagler and Bauker Veyona is not really a bad guy. He hate the Begnion senator just as much as Ike and his crew right now. He definitely should have been playable considering that there are no playable Druid in this game.

Lombroso.
IMG_0322
He his the word bro in his name. HE HIS BRO IN HIS FREAKIN NAME! Come on.

Septimus.
IMG_0323
Remember what i said about Lavender being a tertiary antagonist for part 1. The same would apply to Septimus for part 3.

Goran.
IMG_0324

Not to be confused with King Garon from Fates. This is just one devoted Daein soldier.

Catalena.
IMG_0325
Yet again another female boss and one who far more attractive than Lamia and Sigune.

Awakening.

Vasto.
IMG_0326
Another case of a boss actually kill somebody the Hierarch. Good for you Vasto.

Mustafa.
IMG_0327
What need to be said about Mustafa at this point. He the definition of a good person who’s on the wrong side of the war. He a very honorable man a loving father and even give permission to his own soldiers if they want to flee for their lives. This right here is what we called a perfect antagonist.

Ignatius.
IMG_0328
Another boss with a simple yet effective design.

Farber.
IMG_0329
The coolest looking villain in that game yet he only has two lines dialogue. Ouch.

Pheros.
IMG_0330
Man they been consistently killing it with some of these Valm boss design

Xalbador.
IMG_0331
Props to this guy for having somewhat of a backstory. It not much compared to Pascal but it something.

Ruger.
IMG_0332
Why does everyone believe this guy is Chrom? Are they stupid?

Nelson.
IMG_0333
Nice golden staff you got there. And props for actually wanting the fire emblem. Most bandit just want to burn down villages or steal money from someone else. So appreciate you standing out compared to the rest of the bandits of the series.

Gyral & Dalen.
IMG_0334IMG_0335
I mean if you two are the bosses of the best Paralogue in the whole series then of course you’re gonna end up on this list.

Fates.

Omozu.

For being the first ninja boss in the whole series fates really did really making you look so bada##. It a real shame you’re not playable.

Haitaka.

Haitaka is going to be one of the first if not many capture bosses will the most dope design in the series. However they never be better then Glass that for damn sure.

Kumagera.

Leave Kumagera alone Corrin. He the real hero here. He the one just to save everyone from Garon bs right now.

Funke.
IMG_0340
Cool design terrible unit. Face it you guys only captured Funke because he has a cool portrait. Don’t lie to me i can tell.

Daichi.

Goofy bandit boss number 5. I know he a poacher but still. And what up with his pose? He look like he get caught stealing cookies from the cookie jar.

Gazak.
IMG_0342
GigaChad Gazak himself. And the best axe users in all of Fire Emblem.

Zhara.

This dude is straight up wearing Selena and Laslow outfits but black. Because black colors make you look cooler i guess.

Three Houses.

Lonato Gildas Gaspard.

I was so confused with this guy before Three Houses was released. I thought he was one of the good guys during the marketing of the game. Boy was my dumba## was wrong.

Miklan Anschutz Gautier.

He really should have been playable in Three Hopes. Go fu#k yourself Gwendal for killing him and not allowing me to recruit him.

Acheron Lethe Phlegethon.

Probably another contender with the most punch able face.

Pallardó Davino.

For being another bandit boss He his some snazzy outfit his wearing. He also look like shaggy if he became a hobo.

Myson.

Wow they really like using you even more so than Kronya. Too bad you’re not important enough to get a unique design unfortunately.

Engage.

Nelucce.

Probably the most stereotypical villain of the whole series. But mann do i like him for that.

Mitan.

Finally after seventeenth games they give uses our first female bandit boss. And mann they pull off her design a bit too well.

Abyme.

Okay i take that back what i just said about Mitan.

Finally done with all the bosses.

Oh! Abyme! I forgot about her. Shes bad ass

Uh, what? I’m pretty sure it’s stated right when the map ends that his family was probably threatened.

that is speculation by Kent and Sain trying to hold up their image of him it’s never directly stated to actually happen, it’s just as likely he thought Lyn needed more exp
