Answer are anonymous I think, will publish the results if there is any
If you want to make poll about writing or anything regarding design in fire emblem (with google forms or this website poll system) I’ll try to update the OP with it.
These questions are pretty surface level and leave a lot to be desired in terms of interesting questions. In general, while ultimatums in surveys can be useful, they’re not really all too interesting or telling of anything when they consist of most of the survey.
The questions are vague and too general for them to have any meaning, and some can have a lot of depth.
The one I’m most intrigued by is the “Who’s more important? The story or the player” question. It’s one I like to think about a lot
What did you mean by that, specifically? Is it about abrasive moments in the story? Beats in the story that are intentionally a struggle to go through? Hidden meanings? Ludonarrative aspects, like difficulty? Or is it more like player feeling, like “don’t make the avatar look bad”?
I’ve been interacting with media that prioritises story over the reader as of lately (Hollow Knight: Silksong, Assassin’s Quest or even my own hackrom), and they can make you hate them really easily. It’s interesting to see what balance makes the best use of the narrative tools Fire Emblem gives you
Being a moderator isn’t an excuse to push people around and make them talk how you want. If you’re going to demand I show respect to my fellow forum users, you should show me the same courtesy and not police my speech to the point it’s impossible to have a casual conversation.
a mod asking you to not speak rudely to people is not pushing people around, and you can have casual conversations just fine without being inflammatory about it
And people shouldn’t get in trouble for ONE loose curse word that was used solely for emphasis, that’s just ridiculous. Slurs are one thing, but if you’re not going to give someone the benefit of the doubt on loose lips, that’s a pretty clear lack of respect or care for the amount of effort being careful with your words takes.
People should be able to chill and some people just cuss a lot.
This has derailed enough I’d say. @Starshadow_Melody if you have an issue with a request for general courtesy, feel free to message the staff about it.
It has been 4 days since the poll was submitted and 30 or so responses were submitted so let’s do it
But first I would like to adress the feedback
I would like to point out that none of the questions were mandatory and you could submit your form without answering a single question. Your choice would still be counted as google forms allows you to see how many people responded to a particular question
Problem is, I didn’t point it out, so my bad.
And yet I don’t think that’s the main issue,
It’s not “I don’t have the ability to NOT answer” but rather “I don’t have the ability to give a proper answer”.
So If I ever do one again I’ll try to fix that.
Yeah I can’t argue with that, I like open questions but I believe it backfired, I’ll work on that!
I will say tho, the results were not unanimous and I’ll take as a win ! (except for one question where it’s like 80% 20% but we’ll talk about it)
The question popped in my head while searching for questions to put in that poll,
to be honest, I can’t find an answer to it!
I believe it has something to do with the reader’s imagination and the place it takes in a story but I can’t find an answer that i’m happy with
Flashbacks should raise questions the audience cares about or answer questions the audience is already asking, but always involve characters we already care about. This includes “fake flashbacks” like characters reading the meticulously detailed diaries of dead people and Environmental Storytelling Skeletons.
