Hello. I made a hack. Wanted to post the hack. Realized I couldn’t post the hack because my account is too new. So, I’m posting here to do my time.
I guess I can talk about my hack. I call it Fire Emblem: Scholar of the Fell Stone. It’s a not so subtle nod to Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, because that’s mostly the spirit of what my hack is trying to do.
It’s not a whole new game, it’s just a remix of FE8. I’ve modified the maps and enemy placements of every unique chapter in the game in an attempt to create an experience that will “let you play Sacred Stones for the first time, again.”
I decided to make this hack because I’m a Level Designer who needs a fresh portfolio piece. But the trouble with Level Design it that it can only exist in the context of a game; you can’t properly demonstrate the skill without a playable game to build levels for. Great modding tools like FeBuilder create an awesome environment where we can show our stuff without needing to re-invent the wheel, or develop skills that are outside of our job description.
So I’m incredibly grateful to this community, the tools and guides it has made. It’s really been a delight to work on this project. It’s made me really curious about the prospect of making my own fully original Fire Emblem game. Unfortunately I simply don’t have the art skills required for that sort of thing. So I’ll probably have to stick to projects like this one, if I make another.
Aight that’s my ramble done. I hope someone gives my hack a try and likes it; when I get to post it of course.
