I’d say a better plan at least though is to bring a polearm such as a billhook or halberd. That way, you have reach advantage and the possibility of disarming Ross if you manage to pivot right. Short weapons are too risky, and not necessary
Halberd mention, but I was on some level assuming the vanilla triangle applies- but then we get into the whole “halberds are axes in fire emblem for some reason” debacle. Halberds are neat and I like them there’s a wallhanger halberd upstairs, but it’s heavy and I don’t think I could swing that thing around, while swords are Lighter Than You’d Think.
I was thinking of that whole thing w/ certain weapons or fighters having a “preferred range” and figuring that if your weapon’s is shorter than your opponents, you probably still wanna get past the dangerous bit of your opponent’s weapon, even if you needed to account for it. And the Sickle was… Kinda just the first hooked non-polearm I could think of.
I could take Tethys since we’d both be unarmed
ok seriously what the fuck happened to the little edit log indicator thing.
Right. Reason why fighting with an axe is tough. There’s only a limited range you can deal damage.
Yeah, I wanted to exploit the weaknesses of my opponents weapon.
You see, the plan works, but it’s pretty risky. You’d be exposing yourself by immediately rushing into his range. Also Ross could just have enough grip strength to apply enough torque to just rip the sickle and knife from your hands if you try to catch it. Maybe with enough coordination, it could work? I’ll have to try using a sickle someday, but generally off handed weapons like knives and sickles are meant to be used defensively
It probably wants. like, a decent chunk of speed, too. Sonic could do it.[/hj]
So put the kill-weapon in the main hand and the weapon used to tie up the opponent’s in the off hand, then? Parrying daggers. Gwyn Him, that’s why they work like that in dark souls.
Seriously, I swear that little edit history button used to just pop up on any edit and not under some inscrutable condition that doesn’t fully make sense…
I would win against Julius
why are people taking weapon triangle effectiveness into account, the weapon triangle doesn’t exist in real life where you all (presumably) reside
'cus it’s fun. and also it actually is somewhat realistic according to one(1) skallagrim video, just a little abstracted, what was the logic again, sword is more nimble than the axe, and uh axes & lances was the interesting one, like, I think he said axes are actually kinda good grappling weapons somehow which if your polearm gets grabbed That Is A Bad Situation, I think? So uh…
Yeah IDK maybe Brawling should’ve had triangle effectiveness against lances in 3h lmao
But mostly it’s just fun.
Reason why lances were used so much in warfare were cause they were cheap and very strong in formation. Reason why we had rows of men marching with ten foot pikes poking out. A pike is a crappy weapon in a 1v1, but pike formations are very hard to penetrate
Wait a minute no one said this was a 1v1 right
Get ten billion friends and go into spear formation with them
Aaaand Greatswords were good at breaking those formations up or something, right?
Well not strictly speaking, no, but
You don’t have ten billion friends. I don’t think there’s even that many people on the planet.
But also, you only need one. A 2v1 is already just a nasty situation from action economy alone.
The 10 billion friends are stricitly necessary i am telling you
Nah.
