What is your favorite Rom Hack and why

Just what it says, the time of “what’s your favorite (insert weapon here) user” has ended, it’s time to talk about full on rom hacks.

It’s pretty close, but I think code of the black knights is my favorite. I love the T3 promotions, the route splits with multiple endings, and the story a lot.

So how about you?

My favourite is Dark Lord and the Maiden of Light. Hard choice still as there’s so many really good ones out there.

Honestly, I like The Last Promise. I tend to prefer very basic, traditional FEGBA hacks without skillsys, and TLP’s story is charmingly bad but a time capsule into my childhood.

Yeah, that was an awesome game.

out of what I’ve played to completion, that’s stuck with A Star Wars Story b/c I’ve been busy participating in PMEs and playing other games, plus I couldn’t even get past the first combat chapter of Sturge. Oh and also I showed it to a friend who’s a pretty big star wars fan and we had fun voicing the characters. I still need to play Order 66, and I’d like to show it to them, too.

If we step outside of Fire Emblem, then FFV Custom Classes jumps out, 'cause it’s based off FFV which is great and gives the game’s job system the flexibility it was always meant to have.

Do rebalances like Sacred Echoes and Reforged count? Because I loved those.

In terms of full-on romhacks, I really like Life of Seiros, although it’s not complete atm. Four Kings is another good one.

I like Void’s Blitzarre adventure. Still funny, still good.

Sacred Echoes is based. Actually the first rom hack i ever actually completed.

Same!

The truth is, I have several, and choosing just one would be a bit unfair.
Here’s a top 5 Fire Emblem hack roms:
5: PokeEmblem
Fire Emblem and Pokémon… What more do you need?
I’d rank it higher, but I haven’t played it in a while, so I’d rather leave it here for now.

4: The Last Promise
It’s been around for a while… and it really shows, but it’s still a very solid hack. It has a particular charm.

3: (Tie) Dark Lord and the Maiden of Light / The Dark Amulet
Both have blue-haired, noble, dual-sword-wielding protagonists… and I love them. They’re similar in some ways (which isn’t a bad thing, just curious). If I had to choose one, I’d go with The Dark Amulet.

2: Black Fang
Honestly, I was more surprised than I expected. The tone of this hack is rarely seen, and I think that’s why it earned this spot. It has a very unusual atmosphere.

1: 7 Siblings
In terms of story and difficulty, I think it’s excellent. Plus, it has its own “Black Knight” (Kenneth)! It had me hooked from start to finish.

Honorable Mention: Vision Quest
The only complaint I have can be summed up in one word… Titus.
Dude, a mage with low stamina? What is this?
Other than that, it’s a very complete experience with a final message that left me thinking.
(It should be noted that this is a personal list)

Road to Ruin, first ever played
The Last Promise, felt like old school

Out of the very few romhacks I’ve played, the ones that I liked the most were Sacred Echoes and COBK Code Of the Burger King. The first one because it’s a pretty cool demake of the first FE game I watched that also had its own unique things, and the second one because of it’s silly and funny tone combining well with what I would call fun gameplay.

While I don’t have the same nostalgia for TLP, nowadays I also consider it one of my favorites if not my absolute favorite (mainly competing with Dream of Five). I think despite poor execution in a lot of areas, there were some cool story concepts and I genuinely really like the lords. And despite the unfortunate lack of variety in unit growths, I really like how a lot of the units feel to use, such as Ace and Eduardo.
